RESEARCH / CONFERENCE PRESENTATION EXPERIENCE 8/96-11/97 Directed Study: Research Nova Southeastern University, Broward General Hospital, Research examined the psychological effects of head injuries as well as unexpected illnesses and other accidental injuries on children ages 5-16. Specifically, the research identified the presence of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in children who have sustained head injuries as compared to children with other accidental injuries or unexpected illnesses. Assessment included a series of questionnaires and a structured clinical interview (DISC IV) at the time of hospitalization. Post-test measures were given one month after hospitalization. Presented at the 1995 Conference of the Midwest Psychological Association, Chicago. 9/93-6/94 Undergraduate Senior Honors Thesis in Social Psychology The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio Designed and implemented a study looking at the causes and consequences of overachievement behaviors. The research involved administering several scales and measures to 100 undergraduate students. Upon completion of data collection and analysis, conclusions were written as a thesis, entitled, An Attributional Model of Overachievement. Findings provided implications that behavioral, cognitive, and affective perception of a task viewed as important yields to overachievement behaviors.
