Applications for General Education English Course Credit Exemptions 1. There are TWO PHASES of applications for General Education English Course exemptions. Applications submitted later than the application and verification deadlines will NOT be accepted. The students who do not meet the criteria for credit exemptions or fail to adhere to the deadlines should take the courses as required. [First Phase] Application ONLINE Applications for credit exemptions shall be completed online via the Confirmation of English Competence System (http://eagle.english.ncku.edu.tw/) between the first calendar day of every semester until one day before the actual course begins. Application Deadline for the 2015-2016 Academic Year Fall Semester: August 1, 2015 ~ September 13, 2015 Spring Semester: February 1, 2016 ~ February 21, 2016 [Second Phase] Verification by Foreign Language Center A printout of the application form along with one of the following documents should both be submitted in person to the Foreign Language Center on the second floor of Hsiu-Chi Building on Kuangfu Campus before the end of the third stage enrollment period: Valid passport (for those from countries where English is an official language). Original transcript verified from high schools (for those who received high school education where English is the instructional language). Original proficiency certificate of GEPT, TOEFL ibt, IELTS, TOEIC, Cambridge Main Suite, BULATS, or Oxford Online Placement Test. The qualifications for credit exemptions are listed in the table on the next page. Verification Deadline for the 2015-2016 Academic Year Fall Semester: September 1, 2015 ~ September 25, 2015 Spring Semester: February 15, 2016 ~ Match 7, 2016 2. The credit exemptions will ONLY be approved after the second phase of verification is done. Please go to the Confirmation of English Competence System (http://eagle.english.ncku.edu.tw/) to find the results of your credit exemption application after the start of October. 3. NCKU students are required to complete four credits of General Education English courses before their graduation, and the approved maximum number of exemption credits is four for those students who have successfully met the criteria for credit exemptions. 1
