Australia has one of the world s most resilient economies, thanks to strong productivity growth, low inflation and major reforms to the labour market, business taxation and competition policy.* As a thriving and dynamic city, Sydney provides an ideal setting for your business studies. It is the nation s leading financial centre and home to the Australian Stock Exchange. Two-thirds of Australia s banking and finance industry, and nearly half of Australia and New Zealand s top 500 companies are headquartered in Sydney. Sydney is consistently voted as one of the world s top 10 cities. It has all the excitement and convenience of a modern city, with street cafes and fine restaurants, grand theatres and arthouse cinemas, elegant shopping precincts and bustling markets. The city boasts a gorgeous harbour and is famous for its golden beaches, sunny weather and relaxed lifestyle. Program length AGSM s fast track MBA program is designed to minimise time away from the workforce, enabling students to stay in control of their career and life. The program is generally completed within 18 months. It can be finished in 15 months if students study for five consecutive terms. The 15 or 18 month study timeframe may include a term as an exchange student at one of our partner schools. If students undertake an internship, it will take 18 months to complete studies. Both the exchange program and internship are subject to availability and a competitive application process. A typical program outline First Year of Study Second Year of Study Duration Orientation Program 1 week, beginning in January Core IP0 (Compulsory course) Optional IP4 1 week Term 1 Term 5 10 weeks BREAK BREAK 1 week Core IP1 Optional IP5 1 week Term 2 Term 6 10 weeks BREAK 1 week Core IP2 1 week Term 3 10 weeks BREAK 1 week Core IP3 1 week Term 4 10 weeks, ending in December

Program Overview Intensive and intellectually stimulating, the AGSM MBA program is designed to challenge assumptions and promote critical thinking. It is a generalist degree providing depth of understanding across the core management disciplines. An AGSM MBA gives students the opportunity to enhance career prospects and provides a solid foundation for pursuing new directions. The Full-time MBA program mixes traditional classroom learning with group exercises and has a two-stage structure. The first stage comprises 10 core courses and a set of three, compulsory, short Integrative Programs (IPs). The second stage is made up of 12 elective courses and further elective Integrative Programs. The program is designed to be completed in 18 months with a fast-track option of 15 months over five consecutive terms. Integrative Programs Integrative programs (IPs) are intensive three, four or five-day sessions at the beginning of each term. They integrate discipline-based knowledge from different courses into a broader view of management problems and their solutions. Students select three out of four IPs in the core phase of the program. Students can also choose from a range of elective IPs in the second stage of the program. The AGSM MBA program is extremely well-structured. It is tailored to suit the needs of demanding professionals and is very flexible to the individual. I am impressed with how meticulously the order of core courses and the structure of semesters are designed to facilitate optimal learning and development. Johan Brammer MBA Class of 2005 Elective Courses Students need to complete 12 elective courses. For more information about the range of electives visit www.agsm.edu.au. Schools of Thought The ideas discussed in class are leading-edge because they are based on active research work and experience. They also demonstrate the evolution of content: that ideas are not static but open to challenge by research contributed by faculty members. The AGSM faculty is organised into six academic disciplines according to areas of research and teaching. General Management This discipline helps students develop strategic and entrepreneurial skills. It includes topics on innovation and strategy, international business strategy, corporate law, managerial decision-making, and managing biotechnology, among others. www.agsm.edu.au AGSM MBA Program 7

Learning how to interact efficiently with team members from different countries, cultural backgrounds and work experiences, is one of the greatest assets one gains from the AGSM MBA program. Andi Pannell, MBA Class of 2005 Andrew Thyne Reid Scholar Accounting and Finance The Accounting and Finance discipline helps students to improve their understanding of capital markets and the roles of organisations in those markets. Courses examine how the three basic ideas in finance the time value of money, diversification and arbitrage are used to evaluate investment and financing decisions. Student will learn how to best apply these concepts to add value to the firm. Economics The Economics discipline introduces students to macro and microeconomic issues. Students will learn how to model the behaviour of firms operating in diverse markets using the concepts of demand, supply and market equilibrium. Critical tools such as elasticity, opportunity cost and game theory are developed and used. By improving their understanding of the business environment, students will develop the skills to become knowledgeable business leaders. Marketing The Marketing faculty help students analyse and understand customer behaviour, communicate with customers and develop strategic marketing skills. By taking marketing courses, students can learn the skills to conduct a complete audit of the marketing environment, understand how to generate new marketing options, and use the marketing mix and account management strategies to deliver sales and other business benefits. Organisational Behaviour Organisational Behaviour draws on concepts from the social sciences to identify and solve some of the behavioural challenges faced by managers. Students learn how to design effective work units and gain an insight into how leadership influences individual and organisational performance. Courses in this discipline provide tools for building and sustaining high performance at the individual, group and organisational level. Statistics and Operations The ability to effectively model and manipulate real-life numbers is a key element of business success. The courses in this discipline aim to help students develop expertise in statistical and graphical techniques. Students learn new ways of evaluating arguments and making decisions through the application of statistical methods and procedures. 8 AGSM MBA Program www.agsm.edu.au

Investigate the options as early as possible and avoid relying on one source of funding. Most MBA students use a range of sources to finance their study, including personal savings, family contributions, bank loans and scholarships. In addition, there are several kinds of financial aid available to finance your MBA: Grants or scholarships are given on the basis of different criteria (country of origin, gender, merit or other past accomplishments) Loans Fellowships (opportunities to earn money by teaching or assisting with research). The best way to find funding to help meet the costs of an MBA is to research the available options. There are several sites with good introductions to different opportunities and links to sources of loans and scholarships for MBA study. These include: http://www.finaid.org/ http://www.hhs.se/mba/admissions/financialaid/international.htm http://www.businessschools.com/financial-aid/#scholarships http://www.mbainfo.com/funding.html http://www.mba-advice.us.com/mba-scholarship.html 10 AGSM MBA Program www.agsm.edu.au

International students are encouraged to investigate funding sources in their home country. Many government ministries of education, employers and banks offer assistance in the form of grants or loans. FEE-HELP FEE-HELP is a loan scheme that helps eligible, full-fee paying Australian citizens to pay their tuition fees, up to a lifetime limit of A$50,000, at eligible public or private higher education institutions. For details, contact the Department of Education, Science and Training on 1800 020 108 or visit www.goingtouni.gov.au. Scholarships Scholarships are awarded to highly talented candidates whom AGSM and its corporate sponsors believe possess the aptitude, personal qualities and entrepreneurial talent to be leaders in the private or public sector. Scholarships attract high-calibre applicants from diverse academic, cultural and professional backgrounds. Open to both local and international students, scholarships range from partial fee reductions to company-sponsored stipends. The school also awards a number of scholarships, including the AGSM Alumni Scholarship. To see the range of scholarships available, eligibility criteria and application forms, please visit the AGSM website at http://www2.agsm.edu.au/agsm/web.nsf/content/prospectivestudent-scholarships The quality of teaching was phenomenal.
