Page - Introduction: poisonous animals..1-2 - Insects: bees...3 - Arachnids: scorpions...4 - Mammals: platypus.5 - Jellyfishes: sea wasp... 6 - Some Important information...7 - Bibliography 8

There are many animals which use chemical substances that are toxic and sometimes are deadly for the human being. There are a lot of kinds of poisonous animals such as: -Insects. Insects consist of a huge group of creatures that are able to bite and sting. The inoculation of toxic substances in the human been represents a serious medical problem in all the world. They are responsible of most of deaths caused by poisonous animals. -Spiders, scorpion and centipedes. Arachnids dispose a big ability for using poison. Some kinds of spiders and scorpions have a powerful inoculator system and very toxic substances which cause serious injures or death to the human been. The speed and voraciousness of centipedes, and the big size which some kinds of animals are able to reach makes them a serious danger to consider.

-Mammals and birds. The existence of poisonous species has been discovered among mammals. The platypus, for example, has in his legs a spur with toxic substances. And in 1992 it was demonstrated that there is a group of birds which are able to use chemical defences. -Jellyfishes. The stings of jellyfishes causes an intense pain like a burn, and also can appear blisters which can cause important scars. The most serious stings are caused by stinger, fisalia, and Portuguese caravel ; and its symptoms are muscular spasms, vomiting, shock and even heart failure.

As we said before, the most known and poisonous of these animals are: mantis, bees and wasps, but the most important of these group are bees. :The female has in its abdomen a tubular prolongation which is used for laying eggs and sometimes as a sting that is connected to a poisonous gland, when the sting keeps contact with the specimen, it is firmly fixed and the poison is injected at 2 or 3 millimetres under the skin. The quantity of poison that a bee is able to inoculate in every sting is about 0,2 or 0,5 milligrams. When a bee or a wasp stings you in the tongue larynx, etc., sometimes is mortal, Death is caused by asphyxia. If the sting is directly in a vessel is the same as an injection in the veins that is able to cause serious injures.

About this kind of vermin and bad known animals, we have to point out the scorpions. :Are the only arachnid with pincer and a poisonous sting. It has a tail as big as its body ( 6 centimetres). In Spain there are 4 species: Euscorpius (small and nearly black), belisorius (with smaller tail than the body and huge pincers). The sting segregates a toxic substance, very painful for the human been and deadly for the preys of the scorpion. Scorpions are nocturnal and they hide in the morning in galleries that they make under the rocks, so, you have to be very careful if you raise a rock and even if you are going to lay on the group.

In these group besides rats and bats transmitters of the illness of rabies, we have to talk more about platypus :Is a shy creature that will attempt to swim away and avoid aggressive situations. However, during the breeding season the male platypus is likely to become aggressive towards potential competition. This aggression is predominantly demonstrated with the use of the poisonous spur located on his hind legs. These spurs are hollow and are hollow and are connected to a sac of poison, which is pumped through the spur and into the object that is pierced. It has been known that this venom can kill dogs and other platypuses, but wild platypuses with injures sustained by spurs have survived.

Beautiful animals but at the same time very dangerous we detach the stinger, fisalia and Portuguese carabel, although the deadliest is the sea wasp. :Or box jellies, are not aggressive, they don t have to be. For jellyfishes, they are pretty fast swimmer, dangling their long tentacles in the surf behind them until some fish, gets caught in their practically invisible tentacles. The poison is used to kill close their preys as to instant as possible in order to present struggling victim from trashing their delicate tissues. Then they can take their time devouring their meal without risking themselves. Not everyone who has been stung by a Sea Wasp has died, but those who didn t may have wished not they had. The sting from a box jelly is said to be excruciatingly painful. It can cause nausea, vomiting and breathing problems.

THE MOST POISONOUS MOLLUSC. The sting of a blue rings octopus can kill a human been. Three kinds of cones have a deadly sting too. THE MOST POISONOUS FISH. When it s steped on, the rock fish, which hides in the water near the shore of The Pacific Ocean, injects through the fishbones in its back, causing an intense pain and sometimes death. THE MOST POISONOUS AMPHIBIAN. The frog poisonous arrow, that lives in Colombia, expels through its skin the most powerful poison in the world. One frog s venom can kill 15000 people more or less. THE MOST POISONOUS JELLYFISH. The human been stinged more than six times by a sea wasp can die in 2 or 3 minutes. You can find this jellyfish in the North coast of Australia. THE MOST POISONOUS SPIDER. The Brazilian wolf spider has the most powerful poison in all the spiders. This spider has the difficulty of injecting venom in humans, so, it causes few deaths. THE MOST POISONOUS SNAKE. Marine snakes have an extremely deadly poison; they live in the sea of Timor, in the North West of Australia, their poison is 100 time more powerful than spider s. THE MOST POISONOUS MAMMAL. The platypus injects poison through a spur of one of its hind legs. Its sting causes intense pain in humans. The platypus is one of the two species of poisonous mammal, the other is the shrew. THE MOST POISONOUS BIRD. The only poisonous bird which is known is the hooded pitohui from New Guinea. This bird of bright colours keeps the poison similar as the frog s, although the bird s ones is less toxic.
