Introduction The 2168 Employment Pathways Directory aims to map the opportunities available for people in relation to employment, education and training. The directory enables residents and organisations to have access to a resource which informs them about which programs and services are available to them within their particular circumstance. How to use the 2168 Employment Pathways Directory Simply look at the Index for the service that will most apply to you. If any extra guidance is needed, three case studies have been included on page 4, with suggested programs that may provide assistance to your situation. Elias has been unemployed since injuring his back twelve years ago when working in a factory. At forty five years of age Elias is happy to be on a disability pension. It means that he has a steady income and doesn t have the stress of looking for work and submitting forms to Centrelink. Elias has received a letter in the mail asking him to attend an appointment at his local Centrelink office so he can undertake a Job Capacity Assessment. His English is poor and he doesn t understand all the contents of the letter. He is beginning to worry and doesn t know where he can get help. We provide specialist prevocational assistance, one-to-one and through our job seeker action group (JAG). JAG focuses on developing work skills and motivating clients to find a job in line with their vocational goals. We provide on the job support and training, working with the employer and the client. Our support is reduced as the client becomes more competent and confident in their workplace. We can provide access to workplace subsidies, workplace modifications and aids if necessary to support the clients successful transition into work. These include: Foccacia Prepare and serve a range of tasty sandwiches and foccacias. Till Handle all monetary transactions by operating the till. Wait Staff Greet customers, take orders and serve their meals. Stove and Grill Prepare and serve hot food items. Kitchen Hand Wash and put away all plates, cutlery, glassware and kitchen equipment. Salad Hand Prepare and serve salads and garnishes. Barista Prepare and serve all hot drinks. These include cappuccino, café latte and mocha coffees. Structured workplace learning provides valuable industry experience for students and an opportunity for employers to view the skills of potential new employees. Career and Transition Support provides a range of career development and transition support activities. Adopt a School Program encourages businesses to "adopt" a school in order to give young people hands on industry experience. Provide Local Environmental Scan. Work with Industry to establish links, gain industry knowledge and facilitate participation to meet needs. Centrelink Multilingual Service (CMS) Organisation: Centrelink Phone: 131 202 Website: www.centrelink.gov.au Program Description: Centrelink provides free interpreter services for interviews and free translation of documents relating to Centrelink business. Multicultural Service Officers consult widely with local migrant and refugee communities on Government programs and help Centrelink improve its services. Centrelink also has regular broadcasts in many languages on SBS radio and on community radio stations across Australia.
