vce.com DATA SHEET VXRACK SYSTEM 1032 Product Overview VCE adds rackscale hyper-converged offerings to the industry s broadest converged infrastructure system portfolio. The VxRack System 1000 series is a VCE engineered and manufactured product family with industry-best life cycle management and assurance, adding rackscale capabilities to complement VCE Vblock Systems offerings. The VxRack System 1000 series can reach massive scale and is adaptable to multiple types of environments. The VxRack System 1000 series was designed to participate in, and scale, through VCE Vscale Architecture, enabling additional Enterprise and Service Provider use cases and consumption models. Only VCE provides standardization, modular scale, tightly integrated converged solutions, life cycle management, and industry-best customer experience for its fully engineered products enabling on-demand IT services that further accelerate business outcomes and time-to-value. VxRack System 1000 Series The new VxRack System 1000 series enables customers to flexibly scale deployments for use cases that are best suited to hyper-converged infrastructure. With the VxRack System 1000 series, customers benefit from Asymmetric Scale. Flexibly add hyper-converged compute and storage, or independently scale storage, or compute capabilities. Flexibility. Flexible choice of hypervisors, including VMware vsphere, and KVM. No more silos. Dissolve data-centers silos through an expanded VCE Vscale architectural continuum that accommodates both traditional converged infrastructure and hyper-converged with variable granularity of compute:storage ratio. Simplified Operations with unified UI. Manage and orchestrate converged systems through a standard framework that provides a comprehensive systems and data-center view of infrastructure. VCE Experience. VxRack Systems are engineered and configured for optimal performance. They are prebuilt, pretested, and delivered within 45 days of purchase. VCE customers receive engineering prevalidation on new firmware/software releases Release Certification Matrix (RCM). Customers only need to call VCE for service and support. Flexible consumption model. Ability to rapidly deploy applications through a VCE integrated hyperconverged offering. Grow-as-you-need. Start small with a single rack and grow to data-center scale in flexible discrete increments with high performance and availability for existing and emerging web-scale opportunities.

VxRack System 1032 Overview VCE VxRack System 1032 is the first product in the VxRack System 1000 series. It is engineered by VCE and based on EMC ScaleIO technology. The enclosure for each VxRack System 1032 falls into one of the following three types within one 28-inch 42U cabinets. There is a base configuration that is a minimum set of resources. VxRack System1032 virtualizes the server s directattached storage into a shared network-based storage that s similar to SAN storage. This makes it easy to achieve extreme scale up to thousands of nodes. VCE VxRack System 1000 series is the only hyper-converged infrastructure that provides extreme scale. And it achieves this without compromising data center performance, high availability, resiliency, or security. The following is the base system configuration for VxRack System 1032. Network Layer Hardware The Cisco Nexus switches with 10 GE are used for the VxRack System 1032. The 10 GB network switches inside the VCE VxRack System eliminates the network bottleneck that limits the scale of other hyper-converged infrastructure solutions in the market. In the future, other 10 GE switches will be introduced. Network switches in the VxRack System 1032 enables the seamless participation of VCE Vscale Architecture, eliminating infrastructure and application silos. Storage Virtualization EMC ScaleIO is the storage virtualization layer. DAS storage on servers within the VxRack System 1032 is virtualized into a shared network-based storage that is similar to SAN storage. This makes it easy to achieve extreme scale-up to 1000 nodes. Customers can start with as little as four-server enclosures, and keep adding more based on their business needs. ScaleIO optimizes resource allocation to improve performance. Management Layer The VCE VxRack Management Software is comprised of VCE VxRack Manager and VCE Vision Intelligent Operations software for VxRack Systems. The VCE VxRack Management Software bundle is licensed by the node but bundled in the VxRack Systems SKU and price. VCE VxRack Manager VCE VxRack Manager is a unified UI for the management of the entire VxRack System. It provides VxRack System administrators a direct and complete way to deploy, monitor, sustain and support the VxRack System. Deploy. Go from power-on servers to a fully provisioned system. Allow for configuring network, installing base OS, and installing ScaleIO. Monitor. Monitor the overall system performance, health and metrics. Report on current state of infrastructure server, switch, storage, and smart cabinet. Report on current state of ScaleIO software defined storage. Provide basic system health and performance data. Sustain. Keep the system updated with the latest versions and fixes. Provide RCM guidance. Update VxRack Management Software. Support. Report all system issues affecting operations and performance. Aggregate log and configuration. Provide knowledge base, VCE support contact and process information. VCE Vision Intelligent Operations The VCE Vision software suite provides an integrated set of software products for managing a data center. VCE Vision software is the first software suite to provide an intelligent solution to the problem of managing operations in a converged infrastructure environment. These tools enable and simplify converged operations by dynamically providing a high level of intelligence into a customer s existing management toolset. VCE Vision software enables VCE customers and third-party consumers to know that the VxRack Systems exist, where they are located, and what components they contain. It reports on the health or operating status of the VxRack Systems. It also reports on how compliant the VxRack Systems are with a VCE Release Certification Matrix and the VCE Security Standards. VCE Vision software effectively acts as a mediation layer between your system and the management tools that are already in place. The software allows for intelligent discovery by providing a continuous, near real-time perspective of your compute, network, storage, and virtualization resources as a single object ensuring that your management tools reflect the most current state of your VxRack System. Persona-based Management Platform The VCE VxRack Management Software is a persona-based management platform that provides toolsets for VCE Data Center Manager concerned with multiple systems from VCE VxRack Systems, Vblock Systems, VxBlock Systems, VCE Vscale Block, VCE Technology Extensions, and is provided a multisystem view via VCE Vision 3.x. VCE Data Center Manager inherits all other views and is considered the super user for all systems VxRack System Administrator concerned with VxRack Systems only and is responsible for the deployment, monitoring, sustaining, and supporting of the entire VxRack System through VxRack Manager VxRack Tenant Manager concerned with managing one or more tenants and with the portions of the VxRack System that have been allocated to tenants under management VxRack Tenant concerned with information only on the performance of infrastructure as it relates to the consumption of the VxRack System via virtualization or applications
