Feature Sheet Version 6.100.14 FileNexus Major Advances Client Server Communication - Dependency on Windows DCOM protocols eliminated which means NO additional configuration required on Client PCs after applications installed. Client applications now communicate with the FileNexus Server using enhanced Web Services. Archive Management - Improved document archiving speeds; data enters the FileNexus System at a faster rate! See benchmark test spreadsheet. Now using Advanced Compression; higher compression rate for archived Text, PDF, and other data to.far files (previous.nar files still supported) which means less storage required on your servers. See data compression spreadsheet. More efficient storage of data; have eliminated need to store duplicate data in.far files if the same physical document must be archived to FileNexus more than once, the document will be archived and compressed once but have multiple archived instances in the FileNexus Client that load the original file during document retrieval. Client - Addition of Index Level Security on archived documents. Administrators can now further limit which FileNexus User/Group access the documents within the SAME folder based on Index values rather than having to set all security at the Folder level. Fewer folders to manage and tighter restrictions keeping your documents secure! Improved UI for the document Search Pane; easier to understand comparison operators, clear previous search criteria button, search options added, and simplified Advanced Search Pane. Dramatically faster folder and subfolder document searching and retrieval across multiple folders and multiple document classes for an improved user experience.
Client Archiver Ability to create and specify multiple destination folders (Description Paths) on the network in lieu of using the default Client Archiver directory on the FileNexus Server. This allows you to segregate your data by type, department, customer, or other factors to ensure documents are automatically routed to the appropriate Archive Session to help maintain data integrity. Data Capture Setup Program Enhanced Document Class setup providing the ability to add a Multi-value Index on new Document Classes. Users will now be able to search for documents in the FileNexus Client that may contain multiple values for the same index resulting in more meaningful document search results. Enhanced UI for FileNexus Administrators to easily set up the capturing of meta data from documents to be archived when configuring capture settings files for the Email, Text, and PDF modules. Simplified UI; easier for FileNexus Administrators to link to a FileNexus Database, create a new FileNexus Database, update tables, and update Document Classes. FileNexus Email Module Ability to automatically index and archive incoming/outgoing emails for Microsoft Exchange users saving valuable space on Mail Servers and helping your organization stay compliant with correspondence retention and archival. FileNexus Universal Application Link (UAL) program FileNexus UAL allows users to link directly to documents in FileNexus from almost any Windows application (JD Edwards, MS Word, Excel, Harris Financials, etc). No custom programming required; simply press a hot-key combination, highlight the search value in your Windows application (Invoice number, Account number, etc) and FileNexus will automatically search for the document and display the search results in the FileNexus Client. Web Access Improved UI and functionality; faster searches and additional features previously available only in the FileNexus Client now included in the out-of-the-box Web Access module.
Web Services More robust functionality available; additional features that were previously only available to users in the FileNexus Client can now be made available to users accessing FileNexus through a Web interface. Text Capture Program Document classes and identification settings can now be configured from a user s pc. Setting up zones is now just a matter of drawing a box Document Class Information Identification settings for document classes are now stored in external.ini files making it easier to migrate to a newer server. Multiple.ini files can be pointed to one document class thereby reducing the number of document classes necessary. Scanning The scanning program has been separated out of the Document Identifier program. Scan settings can now be locked preventing end users from making changes. Scan settings can be remembered for each user. Text Collator - the text collator is no longer a separate program. It is now fully integrated with the Text Identification
Service. Consistent Interface - Since the PDF, Text, Laser Capture modules all use the same set-up program they are much easier to learn and administer. NXS File Handling Now able to open and view any FileNexus.nxs file by double-clicking on the file, eliminating the need to Open with Notepad to verify and edit index values captured. Remapping of Text Files Improved filter settings allow for remapping of characters sets. This means it s now possible to use more than just ASCII and EBCDIC encoded files. 4.7x.xx 03/01/2004 Forms Overlay When using forms overlay with the FileNexus WebBrowser module, the overlays now make use of compressed.tif image files speeding up display. Viewing - Navigating through documents in the search result list also updates the current document displayed in the preview plain. Security Dcom settings can now be automatically set to use encryption if available. The word encrypted now shows in the client s status bar if encryption is being used. Higher levels of Dcom security are now available even if the client is not part of the server s domain. Web Server Integration new integration kit allows web developers to access documents stored in FileNexus through their own web application. It s very useful for customer selfservice sites, bill presentment etc. Updated Active-X Developer s Kit allows developers to create their own front end application and use all of the searching, indexing, archiving, and retrieval functions built into FileNexus. Useful for developers who want to recall documents stored within FileNexus from within their own application. 4.63.11 11/17/2003 Security Update Enhancement to prevent DOS attacks against FileNexus server. Archiving Documents that contain indexes with % signs can now be archived. Leading and trailing spaces in indexes are no longer archived. 4.3.1 12/02/2002 Full Text Indexing Uses MS SQL2000 for Full Text indexing. It s faster than ever before. Hit Highlighting Text Documents and Laser Capture Documents now support hit highlighting when used with the Full Text search engine. Full Text Indexing Manager Easier to use interface makes it simple to select document classes for full text indexing.
Full Text Indexing Scheduler A VB script that starts the full text indexing service can be put into the Window s task scheduler- schedule Full Text Indexing to operate in off-peak hours. Full Text Indexing Load Balancing After indexing 20,000 records of one document class, the Full Text Indexing service will move onto other document classes - one large class will not hold up indexing of other smaller document classes. Combined Index/Full Text Searching Full Text searches can be done independently or combined with indexed searches. 4.2X.11 10/16/2002 AFP Capture Module With the AFP capture module it is now possible to capture, identify and automatically index AFP documents.
