They tried to stop people from leaving or entering the barracks. They shouted at British personnel and tried to block the road. The duty officer telephoned the German police who arrived at the barracks straight away. The German police told the crowd to leave the area straight away. After half an hour the crowd went away. Many of the British families in the area were angry at the demonstration. This is because many British soldiers stationed in the barracks are currently in Iraq.
