AMITY INDIAN MILITARY EDUCATION SOCIETY AMITY INDIAN MILITARY COLLEGE BROCHURE GENERAL 1 The Amity Indian Military College has been established under the aegis of the Amity Indian Military Education Society, at the Amity Education Valley, Manesar, Gurgaon. It is an all boys residential school conducting classes from VIII to XII standard. The College is located amidst the Aravali hills on NH8; five kms from Manesar towards Jaipur. The campus is spread over an area of approx 113 acres in a pollution free and environmentally developed surroundings providing the right ambience to students to develop their academic, adventurous and extra curricular pursuits. 2 Being leaders in the field of education, the Amity Universe is spread over 22 campuses across the country and runs 130 different programmes at school, college, and post-graduate levels. It has over 40,000 regular students on its rolls. 3. Amity has excelled in the fields of business administration, biotechnology and engineering education. The Amity Universe consists of a large faculty comprising of 2,500 faculty members. It has a few former Vice-Chancellors, former Vice-Chairman of AICTE, retired IAS officers and senior armed forces officers to provide the best of guidance and directions in the field of education. 4. With the aim of shaping the students to face successfully the prevailing and contemporary challenges, competitive milieu and to develop a wholesome personage, the AIMC lays special emphasis on character building and leadership through activities such as drill, horse riding, shooting, para sailing etc. The AIMC also strives for academic excellence and for development of moral and ethical values. All students of the College are addressed as Cadets. OBJECTIVES 5. To provide quality education to cadets of 10+2 stream based on CBSE pattern. The College will equip the cadets to appear for entrance examination to the National Defence Academy (NDA), Kharakvasla, by training them on the lines of Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun. 6. The AIMC provides an interaction based individual approach by maintaining 1:25 Teacher to Student ratio. The teaching is based on integrated approach and theory based learning with emphasis on one to one counseling. The students are encouraged to discuss matters both 1

personal and relating to academics with the teachers in a free and frank manner to create an environment of mutual respect and confidence. It thus ensures a holistic growth encompassing aspects of personality, character, attitude and traits. ORGANISATION 7. The College is being run under the overall aegis of the Amity Indian Military Education Society. 8. To meet the dual aim of providing quality education on CBSE pattern and training on the lines of RIMC, the organisation has been tailor made to cater for both academics and adventure cum military training. 9. The college is being administered and managed by the following committee:- (a) President Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, (b) Director General - Lt Gen BK Bopanna, PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd) (c) Commandant - Brig SK Bahl, VSM (Retd) (d) Administrative Officer (e) Head Master (f) Subject Teachers (g) Lab Assistants for science and computer lab. (h) Training Staff to cover aspects of physical training, horse riding, military training, swimming and sports activities. (i) Staff for Hobby clubs CURRICULUM 10. The College will provide the cadets holistic growth to include academics, sports, adventure, horse riding, shooting and military training. It conducts classes from class VIII to class XII based on CBSE pattern and military training on the lines of RIMC. The cadets will be enrolled in the Amity Cadet Corps which is compulsory for all. Amity Cadet Corps imbibes the quality of leading from the front, dedication, devotion, sincerity and uprightness. The cadets will thus be developed to be men of strong character, leaders in all fields, morally upright and ethically sound. Dharma and Maryada are the guiding principles of developing a wholesome personality. Creativity and Decision making is the hallmark of all education and training being imparted to the cadets. 2

ADMISSION 11. Admission for classes VIII and IX will be based on written test and interviews. FACILITIES 12. The following facilities would be provided to the Students of the Amity Indian Military College, Manesar:- (a) Residential lodging and boarding (b) Science and computer labs (c) Horse Riding and Shooting (d) Swimming pool (e) Indoor and outdoor games (f) Adventure activities to include Para Sailing, Trekking, Camping, Rock Climbing etc. (g) Administrative facilities of health cover, washer man, barber, cobbler etc. FEE STRUCTURE 13. An annual package fee of Rs.1,10,000/- to include Tuition Fee, Computer Lab Fee, Boarding and Lodging, Laundry, Medical, Riding, Swimming, Adventure Activities, School Uniform and Education Development Charges.. 14. Fee will be paid through an accounts payee bank draft payable at Delhi. The fee can be paid in three installments; first of Rs 50,000/- payable at the time of admission, second installment of Rs 30,000/- on 01 Aug and third installment of Rs 30,000/- on 01 Dec 06. Draft should be made payable to the Amity Indian Military College, Delhi, A/c payee only. Money orders and cheques are not accepted. POCKET ALLOWANCE 15. A pocket allowance of Rs.5,000/- @ Rs.500/- per month to meet essential personal expenditure by students will be deposited by the parents through a payee account bank draft payable to the Amity Indian Military College, payable at Delhi. This amount will be deposited at the time of admission into the college, along with the first installment of fee. The management will handover a maximum of Rs.500/- per month or as requested by the cadet, whichever is less, to the cadets for their sundry expenditure. Parents are advised to ensure that the cadets are not given any cash over and above the pocket allowance as mentioned above. Disciplinary action may be initiated against those found in possession of cash more than the allowed pocket allowance 3

RULES AND REGULATIONS 15. The following rules and regulations would be strictly administered at AIMC, Manesar:- (i) The boarders are not allowed to leave the school premises, except on holidays with specific permission of the Headmaster and the Commandant. (ii) Withdrawals during the academic session is not permitted. However, if a parent seeks withdrawal from the College, tuition fee and lodging and boarding for the complete session besides other costs will have to be paid. (iii) All fees will be paid on due date as notified by the College from time to time. Delay in payment will incur a levy of 2% charge extra per month or part thereof. (iv) All acts of discipline will be dealt with severely and the decision of the management in this regard would be final. (v) Each cadet will keep his cupboard, bed and kit tidy. He has to turn out in the prescribed kit for classes, parades, games, evening periods and excursions. On Sundays and holidays students may wear informals/civies. (vi) A cadet must not bring from home or keep in his possession any medicines, food stuff, obscene literature/photographs, weapons or money more than authorised. (vii) Expensive wrist watches, fountain pens, rings etc of any sort are not allowed to be used in the campus. (viii) A cadet must not make any purchases from the town through school employees or servants. Any pressing requirement should be obtained through the House Masters only. (ix) Cadets must strictly abide by the leave rules and rules about making or receiving telephone calls, meeting parents, relatives or visitors. (x) Parents/relatives/guardians are permitted to visit cadets in the common room on specified days between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm. The hostel is strictly Out of Bounds for all except for nominated staff members. 4

SCHOOL CALENDAR 16. At the start of the academic year, the College publishes an engagement card which contains details of the year s work. DAILY ROUTINE 17. Daily Routine of the College is given at Annexure-II. BOOKS / STATIONERY 18. Basic requirement of books and stationery will be provided BY the College. However, additional requirement of stationery if any by the students, will be procured from the canteen by the cadets, on cash payment. LIBRARY 19. AIMC will maintain a library containing educational, fiction and reference books. The library will cater for sufficient number of national newspapers besides competitive magazines on current affairs. Cadets will be allowed to draw books from the library for a fixed duration. MEDICAL EXAMINATION 20. The campus will have a full fledged medical examination room manned by a nursing assistant to provide medical cover to the students. A qualified doctor will visit the medical examination room at regular intervals. A thorough medical examination of all students will be conducted by the doctor at the time of admission. Students with serious ailments will be sent for specialist opinion outside the campus, expenditure of which will be borne by the parents. 21. No student is permitted to keep with him any private medicines without the permission of his House Master and School Doctor. If a particular medicine/treatment is required by the student, parent should submit prescription from the family doctor and obtain the House Masters permission to leave the medicines with the student. The school doctor will also be informed about it. 5

22. Any illness needing special attention will be reported to the parents. Whenever any special consultants are called in or their opinion is sought, necessary charges will be debited to the boys personal account. PARENT TEACHER MEET AND REPORT CARD 23. Parent-Teacher Meeting will be held every quarter wherein the performance of the child will be discussed with the parent at length. The parents will be informed of the strengths and weaknesses of the boy. This not withstanding, parents desirous of visiting the College can do so once in a month to discuss issues, if any. The College will also send a quarterly report covering the results of various examinations/tests conducted at the College. FEE STRUCTURE 24. Detailed fee structure is given at Annexure-I. OUT PASS 25. A cadet will be allowed maximum one night out in a month, if escorted by parents. All other outings will be at the behest of the College based on educational and adventure related activities. Students going out with parents for the day are expected to be back in the campus by 10:00 pm. All outings will be on a proper out pass signed by the Headmaster and the Administrative Officer. REFRACTORY 26. There is a common refractory where all the meals i.e. bed tea, breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner are served. The food served will be vegetarian. Non-vegetarian food will NOT be served in the college. However, eggs will form part of the menu. Vegetarians will be served with a special alternate dish. Extra milk, eggs, soups, fruits will be provided on payment only, when advised by the school doctor. 27. Every meal is supervised by duty masters and house masters on duty. Students will attend a formal dinner once a week attended by Commandant, Head Master, Administrative Officer and nominated teachers to inculcate table manners and good eating habits.. 6

CLOTHING & ACCESSORIES 28. AIMC will provide College uniform at the following scale,to all students :- (a) Summer Uniform (i) Trouser 2 (ii) Shirts 2 (iv) Black Shoes Oxford 1 pairs (v) Socks Black 2 pairs (vi) College tie 1 (vii) College belt 1 (b) Winter uniform (i) Trouser Woolen 1 (ii) White Shirts 2 (iii) College Blazer 1 Uniform For Military Training 29. In addition, uniform for Amity Cadet Corps/adventure activities will be provided by the College. Items to be Brought by the Cadets. 30. The students are required to bring following clothing items:- (i) Civies, summer wear- 2 pairs (ii) Winter clothing to include pullovers, sweaters, woolen cap, hand gloves, woolen socks, woolen inners, etc. (ii) Casuals - 2 pairs (iii) Night Dress - 2 pairs (v) Blanket/ Quilt for the winters (vi) Adequate under garments (vii) Bath room slippers (viii) Hanker chiefs (xi) Shaving kit and Toiletries (x) Swimming trunk (xi) Bath towels (Blue) 2, Hand towels -2 (xii) Sports kit to include:- 7

Each cadet will be provided with:- (i) Bed with Mattress and Pillow. To ensure uniformity, linen and bed cover will be procured centrally by the college. The cost of these items will be deducted from the pocket allowance of the cadets. (ii) Study table with a chair and a table lamp (iii) Cupboard with locking arrangements All boxes and suitcases with name tags will be deposited with the management for safe custody. CANTEEN AND STATIONERY SHOPS 32. AIMC will have a canteen and stationery shop for meeting basic and day to day requirements of students besides some refreshments. WASHING OF CLOTHES, HAIRCUTTING AND REPAIR OF SHOES 33. Washing of school uniforms twice a week will be free. However, cadets will have to pay for washing of their private clothes. Rates of washing will be fixed by the management. CONCLUSION 34. AIMC provides a conductive environment for multi-disciplinary growth of its cadets in the fields of education, adventure, physical fitness, ethics, moral values and overall development as confident young men aspiring for a bright career in the armed forces of India. 8
