Salary and Payslip Salary is at disposal at the very last banking day of the month Tax is deducted before the salary is paid out to you You have to register with SKAT (tax authorities) in advance (if not, you ll be taxed 55%!!) You need a (Danish) bank account to have your salary transferred into Your payslip will be sent to your digital mailbox a few days in advance of the salary payment You and AU pay contributions to pension through the wage, 17.10 % of wage (17.10 % of 85 % of wage for PhDs) 18

Working hours 37 hours a week = full time position Usually you are not entitled to overtime pay Normally half an hour paid lunch break is included in the 37 weekly working hours 5 + 1 weeks of paid holiday Sickness: Normally full pay during sickness Sickness of children: Paid leave for the first two days of sickness of a child 23

Public transport (bus, train, metro) www.journeyplanner.dk or APP to find connections from A to B Local and regional transport (bus / commuter trains) Buy a 10-trip bus pass ( klippekort ) valid for both regional trains and busses Possible to buy tickets (cash only, no credit cards) on busses, but not on trains Penalty fees: 750 DKK! How do I get around Aarhus and DK? National connections (train/bus): www.dsb.dk (trains), DSB APP or www.abildskou.dk (bus). Buy tickets in advance (online), seat reservations are recommended Rejsekortet the new travel card for all public transport: Buy it at www.rejsekort.dk Most affordable to use in Copenhagen area and for travel across the country Rejsekort is an electronic ticketing system for travelling by bus, train and metro. Be like a Dane get a bike: Buy at a large supermarket (Føtex, Kvickly or Bilka), app. DKK 1500-3000 (cheap bike) 27
