SETTING UP REMOTE DESKTOP IN WINDOWS XP

1 REMOTE DESKTOP FOR WINDOWS XP In order to access your Remote Desktop from your Windows XP Home Computer, do the following steps: (a) Click START, then RUN (or shortcut windows key + R ) (b) Type "mstsc" and click OK button. The following is an illustration of this: After clicking OK, the following will appear: Enter the IP address vt.bdplaw.net in the "Computer:" field as illustrated above and click the "Connect" button. The next page will illustrate what happens next (Note: If you want to create a shortcut icon to access Remote Desktop via your Desktop and change other settings (i.e. screen size options, color etc). Choose Options as illustrated above, see page 2 of this document) LOGGING ON TO BDP VTS1 Please refer to "BDP Remote Access Systems" on "Help & Support" on the Intranet or visit www.bdplaw.net

2 OPTIONS Clicking on the "Options" button from the "Remote Desktop Connection" window (see page 1), will produce the following: 1. Option One - General Tab (Short Cut Icon for Desktop) Vt.bdplaw.net In order to save the connection settings to your computer's desktop at home, you have input the following in the above illustration. They are "vt.bdplaw.net" in the "Computer:" field. Once this is done, click on "Save As..." button as illustrated above

3 Make sure you select "Desktop" as shown above and name your file "BDP vts1" also shown above. You do not have to worry about entering the file extension. Click on the "Save" button when you are done. The following icon will appear on your computer's Desktop window: Next time you want to access the Remote Desktop, simply double-click on the icon as shown above.

4 2. Option Two - Display Tab (Screen Size) Under the Display tab, you can set the screen size accordingly. Setting the full screen is recommended. (Note: setting less than Full Screen will make less space to view documents.)

Option Three - Local Resources Tab (Local Drive Mapping) You can allow your home printer(s) to be used from the Remote server by ensuring the "Printers" check box is selected as illustrated above. If you want to able to access your local drives on your home PC, click on the "More..." button as illustrated above. The following will on the next page will appear:

6 You can select your local drives (i.e. "A", "C", "D", "Drives that I connect to later", etc.) You may have expand the "Drives" tree to see all the drive letters

7 SETTING UP DUAL MONITORS FOR YOUR REMOTE SESSION In order to setup dual monitors for your session, you have to do the following: After clicking on Start / Run and typing "mstsc /span", click on the "Options" button and select the "Display" tab as illustrated in the screen shots below and next page:

8 Select checkbox for "Use all my monitors for the remote session" from the above illustration for the "Display" tab make sure the "Display configuration" is set to Full Screen - Large and click "Connect" button. You will then have to manually adjust the windows sizes as needed. (Note: that both your monitors act like one big screen when you are in your Remote session)

Assuming that you have created your Desktop icon, proceed to Step (2). If not refer to the user guide "vt.bdplaw.net for Windows XP" in "Help & Support" on the Intranet or visit www.bdplaw.net 2. Double-Click on your Desktop icon "BDP vts1" 3. Click on "Other User" button. The following will appear: 5. Once you have entered your "Passcode", proceed to the next step 6. Simply click OK on the "Windows Security" screen: The following will then appear: 7. Type your "Windows Password" (same as office) and press ENTER or click Arrow key to complete log-on process LOGGING OFF FROM VT.BDPLAW.NET ON WINDOWS XP 4. In the "RSA SecurID" log on screen as illustrated above, in the "User name" field enter your username (replace username with your username you use at BDP). In the "Passcode" field enter your RSA SecureID Passcode. This is your 4 digit pin (0+Lawyer Number) followed immediately with the 6 digit Keyfob number that appears on your Keyfob. If you have a two-digit Lawyer Number (i.e. 070) enter 0070 on your device. Click on the arrow key when done Do not click the "X" on the Remote Desktop banner. Instead do the following: 1. Click Start 2. Click Log-off "username" only ENABLING A LOCKED REMOTE SESSION If you log-on incorrectly more than 3 times, your Remote Session will be locked permanently and you will need to contact your administrator on the next business day to un-lock your account An example of entering your Passcode is described below: *Be sure to enter your 4 digit pin number along with this code. For example: If your pin was 1234, you would enter 1234234836. 2009 spremji

Assuming that you have created your Desktop icon, proceed to Step (2). If not refer to the user guide "vt.bdplaw.net for Windows XP" in "Help & Support" on the Intranet or visit www.bdplaw.net 2. On the iphone, open the RSA application as seen on the following illustration: 3. Now enter the PIN (9+three-digit lawyer number) and press the "Arrow" key to accept. If you have a two-digit Lawyer Number (i.e. 070) enter 9070 on your device. See following illustration: 6. In the "RSA SecurID" log on screen, enter your "Username" (same as office) and "Passcode" (8 digit number as illustrated in Step (4). Press ENTER or click on Arrow key to continue NOTE: If prompted to "enter next Passcode", wait until the code on the iphone changes (up to 1 minute) and then enter the new 8 digits that are displayed. The system is just verifying that the token is in synch. If an incorrect PIN is entered, the iphone will display an INCORRECT token code which will cause login to fail. To correct the PIN, access the Menu and then choose "Reenter PIN". If an incorrect PIN is entered too many times, the token will be disabled and an administrator will need to re-enable on the next business day 7. Simply click OK on the "Windows Security" screen: The following will then appear: 4. Once your PIN is entered, 8 digits are displayed on your iphone (see illustration just below) 5. Double-Click on your Desktop icon "BDP vts1"click on "Other User" button. The following will appear: 8. Type your "Windows Password" (same as office) and press ENTER or click Arrow key to complete log-on process LOGGING OFF FROM VT.BDPLAW.NET ON WINDOWS XP Do not click the "X" on the Remote Desktop banner. Assuming that you have created your Desktop icon, proceed to Step (2). If not refer to the user guide "vt.bdplaw.net for Windows XP" in "Help & Support" on the Intranet or visit www.bdplaw.net 2. Double-Click on your Desktop icon "BDP vts1" 3. Click on "Other User" button. The following will appear: To correct the PIN, press the Menu button (to the left of the track pad/roller ball) and then choose "Re-enter PIN". If an incorrect PIN is entered too many times, the token will be disabled and an administrator will need to re-enable on the next business day. Once you have entered your "Passcode", proceed to the next step 7. Simply click OK on the "Windows Security" screen: The following will then appear: 8. Type your "Windows Password" (same as office) and press ENTER or click Arrow key to complete log-on process 4. In the "User name" field enter your username (replace username with your username you use at BDP). In the "Passcode" field, leave it blank for now 5. Now go into your BlackBerry, open the RSA application and enter the PIN (9+three-digit Lawyer Number or 4-digit employee number if you are a Support Staff). If you have a two-digit Lawyer Number (i.e. 070) enter 9070 on your device. Once you enter your PIN, the 8-digit Passcode will be displayed on your Blackberry 6. Enter this 8-digit code in the "Passcode" field and press the "Arrow key" when done. Remember you do not enter your PIN in the "Passcode" field as it has been entered via your Blackberry already. Now proceed to the next step Note: If prompted to "enter next Passcode", wait until the code on the BlackBerry changes (up to 1 minute) and then enter the new 8 digits that are displayed. The system is just verifying that the token is in synch. If an incorrect PIN is entered, the BlackBerry will display an INCORRECT token code which will cause login to fail. LOGGING OFF FROM VT.BDPLAW.NET ON WINDOWS XP Do not click the "X" on the Remote Desktop banner. Instead do the following: 1. Click Start 2. Click Log-off "username" only ENABLING A LOCKED REMOTE SESSION If you log-on incorrectly more than 3 times, your Remote Session will be locked permanently and you will need to contact your administrator on the next business day to un-lock your account 2009 spremji
