Specifications for Online Real Time Mission Data Logging & Retrieval System Introduction: DRDL is planning to implement unified storage solution (SAN and NAS capability) with storage scalable to at least 144 drives. This will be used by intranet activity like, storing of database, file data, application data, web & email data etc. with 24/7 operational. It is planned for unified storage solution with no single point of failure & with SAN & NAS functionality within the same storage array. Tape Library will be used for having one more copy of the data. Proposed tape library to have inbuilt redundancy like tape drive, power supply. The solution is to provide management facility with front touch screen operational panel & remote management. SAN switches and FC HBAs will be used for servers to storage connectivity. Proposed STORAGE solution should be from the major vendors like IBM, HP, EMC, Fujitsu and NetApp or equivalent. Proposed BACKUP Hardware solution should be from the major vendors like IBM, HP, DELL, TANDBURG and Overland Storage or equivalent. Proposed BACKUP software solution should be from the major vendors like IBM -Tivoli, HP - Openview and DELL Netvault or equivalent. Proposed SAN Switches should to be from the major vendors like Cisco and Brocade or equivalent. One onsite engineer has to placed for 1 year at DRDL to maintain storage, storage connectivity, regular backups and administration. Computer Storage S. No. Feature Description 1 Primary Storage 1 no 1 Storage Controller 2 Cache required 3 Protocols Supported 4 Storage Capacity The Storage system must have at least two controllers running in an active-active mode with automatic failover to each other in case of one controller failure. The system should have 12 GB cache across the two controllers with an ability to protect data on cache if the system fails and it results into controller failure. The cache on the storage should have 72 hrs or more battery backup. The storage shall support FCP, iscsi, NFS and CIFS protocols for use with different applications. Any hardware/software required for this functionality shall be supplied along with it in No Single Point Of Failure mode. The storage shall support FC/SAS and SATA based disks simultaneously. The storage shall be supplied with 10.4 TB of net usable data capacity with 8TB on 1 TB SATA HDDs and 2.4TB on 600GB 15K RPM SAS disks, after removing the drives 1/13

9 5 6 Front-End & Back- End connectivity RAID configuration required for (a) Parity/Mirror, (b) hot spares. The storage should have Fiber Channel protocol to operate at 8Gbps for front-end connectivity. The system should have 8 x 1Gbps Ethernet connectivity for hosts. The Controller should have SAS Ports for connectivity to disks. The system should support RAID 1, 4/5, RAID1+0/RAID6 or equivalent.the RAID implementation on the storage will be such that it is able to protect against two drives failing in the same RAID Group simultaneously. 7 Storage Scalability The storage should be scalable to at least 144 drives. 8 Hot spare disks Storage built-in functionality 10 Clones The number of hot spares should be as per the best practices of the vendor. However there should be a provision for minimum of 2 global hot spare disks for SAS and minimum of 2 global hot spare disks for SATA. The storage shall have the ability to expand LUNS/Volumes on the storage online and instantly.the storage should support 500 Volumes per controller The storage shall have the ability to create logical volumes without physical capacity being available or in other words system should allow over-provisioning of the capacity. The license required for the same shall be supplied for the maximum supported capacity of the offered storage model. The storage shall support quality of service by allocating system resource priority on the corresponding LUNS/Volumes through priority allocation or by use of cache partitioning The storage shall support logical partitioning of controllers in future such that each partition appears as a separate storage in itself. The storage shall support standard storage (SAN & NAS) security features and igroup. System should have redundant hot swappable components like controllers, disks, power supplies, fans etc.storage should supply with Rack mountable Kit and Indian Power Cords. The storage shall support creation of snapshots. This is for use in development environment, for running reports and for DR drills. 2/13

The solution shall support replication in cascade, one to many and many-to-one mode. The replication solution on storage shall support failover to BCP/DR storage and failback as and when required. The failover to the DR site shall be controlled from the Storage manage GUI and should include the functionality to execute any custom post-processing scripts to make sure the complete process is automated. It should be possible to run DR Drills and reports on the system when operating as DR storage without interrupting the ongoing replication. Any additional capacity required for the same shall be provided with the offer. All the licenses on the storage system must be provided for an entire capacity supported by the system from day one. The proposed system should be field upgradeable to a higher model in the family through data-in-place upgrades without requiring forklift upgrade and without requiring replacement of the disk shelves.
