HOW TO APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS AT THE DOTHAN CAMPUS STEP 1 Go to www.trojan.troy.edu/dothan and click on Dothan 2014 Scholarship Packet under CAMPUS LINKS to download scholarship descriptions and application Read Steps 1-3 and all information in the Scholarship Packet. Apply for admission to the Dothan Campus prior to applying for a scholarship. (Students may apply for admission and for a scholarship simultaneously, but delays in processing admission applications could eliminate students from the annual scholarship competition.) Pursue an approved course of study at the Dothan Campus (your University Home Location must be Dothan D01 for the duration of your scholarship). Scholarships do not pay for on-line (etroy) courses. STEP 2 Submit a complete scholarship package which includes the following: (1) A completed Scholarship Application. (2) Copies of transcripts from all colleges and universities attended (you must contact all other colleges and universities to obtain copies of your transcripts). If you are an incoming freshman, submit a copy of your high school transcript. If you are a Dothan Campus student and have attended Troy University classes for at least one full semester, you may submit only an unofficial copy of your TROY transcript received from the Records Office; which requires a 24 hour turnaround time for processing TROY transcripts. We are now accepting transcripts printed from the internet providing the institution name is clearly indicated on the transcript. (NOTE: Although official transcripts are required for student admission to TROY, the scholarship package may contain copies. However, these copies must be submitted with your scholarship package and received in the scholarship office by the scholarship deadline.) (3) A resume (a short summary of one's previous job history, community activities and education). NOTE: Do not include photographs of yourself in the application. Including photographs will automatically disqualify your application. (4) A statement (typed and limited to one page) in which applicants explain why they desire and deserve a scholarship. If applying for a scholarship that requires financial need, please be very specific about your financial need when writing your personal statement. Comments should relate to criteria specific to each scholarship (leadership, financial need, working full- or part-time, etc.). Submit only one complete scholarship package. When applying for more than one scholarship, one copy of your statement is sufficient for all
scholarships except those requiring further information: Sublette, Patterson and Connell (undergraduate and graduate). If you have any questions, contact the Student Services Administrative Assistant. Statements and essays should be typed and signed by applicants. (5) Written verification of ACT/SAT scores (if specified for the scholarship). (6) Three (3) reference letters, completed, signed, and received by the deadline. STEP 3 NOTE: Be advised that you should approach your potential references as early as possible, giving them ample time to complete letters. Two to four weeks before application deadline is recommended. The letters may be picked up or mailed but must be submitted in a sealed envelope with recommender s signature across the seal. Meet the requirements of unconditional admission to the Dothan Campus of Troy University. Students have until August 6, 2014 to receive unconditional admission. (Students with the admission status of temporary, conditional, post degree, transient, certification, or special admission are not eligible for any scholarships.) Meet eligibility criteria for your specified scholarship. Some scholarships require students to be enrolled full time each semester. Scholarship applications are available from October 3, 2013, through March 3, 2014. The Scholarship Committee considers these applications only once a year--during spring semester--with all scholarships beginning in the fall semester. A complete Dothan Campus scholarship package must be received in the office indicated on the application form no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday March 3, 2014. A scholarship package received after the deadline will not be considered in this year's annual competition. Incomplete scholarship packages will not be considered. The responsibility rests with the student applicant to insure that all parts of the scholarship package are received by the March 3, 2014, deadline. For any and all questions regarding the scholarships in this Scholarship Packet, please contact Student Services, Administrative Support in Malone Hall, Room 100, or call (334) 983-6556, ext. 1204. Because of limited funds for scholarships, the University will not be able to offer scholarships to all qualified applicants.
