UTS:INSEARCH pathways Whatever your future direction we have the course to get you there. At UTS:INSEARCH we believe a better indication of your current academic ability is your HSC subject results, not your ATAR. Admission to UTS:INSEARCH is based on your average HSC subject results (based on your top four non-vet subjects and must include English). HIGH SCHOOL Minimum HSC subject average* of: 8 month diploma = 75% 12 month diploma = 67% 16 month diploma = 63% UTS:INSEARCH Diploma (8,12 or 16 months) UTS 2nd Year** Bachelor Degree * Average is based on English plus your top three non-vet subjects ** The point where you enter into your UTS degree will depend on your chosen major. Choose your pathway: High School: Condell Park Klodia s pathway: Klodia studied the UTS Foundation Studies (Design stream) and a UTS:INSEARCH Diploma of Design and Architecture and is now in her first year of the UTS Bachelor of Design (Architecture). Klodia says: UTS:INSEARCH not only gave me a second chance to get into UTS but it s also helping me get closer to my dream career (Architecture). By studying the Diploma of Design I got to explore and learn all about the different aspects of the design world from research to image experimentation. UTS:INSEARCH diplomas are offered over 2 semesters (Accelerated), 3 semesters (Standard) and 4 semesters (Extended). Entry into our diploma programs is based on your HSC subject average and the pace of learning you wish to undertake. Accelerated (8 months) The fast track program The fastest way to get into a UTS degree. However, the intense workload means it will not be suitable for everyone. Opportunity to fast track into second year at UTS. Depending on the course chosen. You will study the same subjects as first year UTS students. Guaranteed entry* into a UTS degree. Based on successful completion of the diploma. Standard (12 months) You will study the same content as the Accelerated diploma but paced out over 12 months. This diploma allows you more time to enhance your academic study skills while adjusting to university life. Opportunity to go straight into second year at UTS. Depending on the course chosen. You will study the same subjects as first year UTS students. Guaranteed entry* into a UTS degree. Extended (16 months) The all-inclusive preparation program with extra support and academic skill building. You will study the same subjects as first year UTS, PLUS Academic Communication and additional enabling subjects. In the first semester of this program you will also undertake an Academic Communication subject and two course-specific enabling subjects, designed to prepare you to succeed as you progress through your studies. Enabling subjects in the first semester will prepare you to tackle more complex subjects. Subjects such as Accounting for Business, Physics for Engineering, and Maths for Science have been identified as subjects students need more support in. This extra support and skill development means your chance of success is greatly increased as you progress through the rest of your diploma and university studies. Build up your academic communication skills to a university level. This program offers an Academic Communication subject in the first semester, designed to help boost your communication skills so you will be confident studying at a university level. Some of the topics covered include: essay writing, research techniques, effective note-taking, performance and presentation skills, information and digital publication skills, and university-style referencing. You will benefit from a blended learning approach. This means you will benefit from a combination of state-of-the-art technology, traditional classroom teaching and online self-paced learning. This innovative approach will allow for a more engaging and interactive student learning experience that will help improve learning outcomes. Opportunity to enter second year at UTS. Depending on the course chosen. Guaranteed entry into UTS. If you achieve the required Grade Point Average (GPA), you can secure a place in the corresponding UTS degree after completing your diploma. Due to lower HSC subject averages, some students may not have a gained a place at UTS previously, and now have the opportunity to study at university level with our Extended (4 semester) diploma.
