Introduction PAGES: used to select pages ZOOM Keys: used to zoom in/zoom out (On GPScapable units, press keys simultaneously to create Man Overboard waypoint) KEYPAD: controls cursor & selects items on menus MENU: Opens settings, context and page menus NOTICE This manual covers several units. Some features and screenshots may differ from your unit s capabilities or from what you see on your screen. Your unit, however, will function in a similar manner. Turn unit on/ off Getting Started Press and hold the Light/ Power key for three seconds. ENTER: confirms menu selections LIGHT/POWER: controls backlight level and turns unit on/off Adjusting the backlight Muting Audio Press the Light/Power key, select Brightness and press the keypad left/right. Select Mute Audio from the System menu and press Enter. 1

General Operation Overlay Data Allows you to display data on the screen. Overlay data can be accessed on the Chart, Sonar and DSI menus. Standby mode Lowers power consumption by putting the unit into a sleep mode. Press any key to resume normal operation. WARNING: Leaving the unit in Standby with the boat turned off will drain the battery. Advanced Mode Enables advanced features/settings. On some units, advanced mode is enabled by answering Yes to the advanced user question in the Setup Wizard. To repeat the Setup Wizard, restore defaults. Restoring Defaults Resets unit options and settings to defaults. 3

Sonar Operation Trackback You can review your sonar history by pressing the keypad to the left until the screen starts to move in reverse and the sonar history bar appears at the bottom of the screen. Sonar history bar DSI only Move the sonar history bar all the way to the right to resume normal sonar scrolling, or press Menu and select Exit cursor mode. Adjusting the display Colorline (Advanced mode - traditional) Separates strong sonar echoes from weak sonar echoes, making it easier to distinguish fish or structure from the bottom. On monochrome units, wide bands of gray indicate a hard sonar return, while softer returns are shown as dark, narrow lines. Sensitivity (Traditional Sonar) Controls the level of detail on the screen. Too Contrast (DSI sonar) much detail will clutter the screen. Conversely, Adjusts the brightness ratio between light and desired echoes may not be displayed if Sensitivity dark areas on the screen, making it easier to distinguish objects from the background. is set too low. 4

Sonar Operation Noise Rejection: counteracts sonar signal interference by reducing onscreen clutter. Features Range: selects the section of the water column shown on the display Frequency: selects transducer frequency Surface Clarity: reduces clutter near the water s surface (Advanced mode only). Color Changes the look of the display using palettes with varying degrees of color and brightness. Stop sonar: pauses the sonar screen Color sonar Monochrome DSI Color DSI 5 Fishing Mode (Traditional) Fishing modes are preset packages of sonar settings geared to specific fishing conditions.

Alarms menu The Fish Alarm sounds a tone when a fish symbol appears on the display (Non-DSI). Depth threshold NOTE: Press Enter to silence alarms. 6
