NETWORKING LPH SIGNS OR THETER SOLUTIONS v2.0-1 Single sign networks with lphanet plus, lpha Messaging, or Simply Theater software Use this setup when a simple serial (RS232) connection to a single sign is needed. Maximum distance = 50 feet RS232 1088-8625 25-foot RS232 cable 1088-9627 50-foot RS232 cable Plugs into the sign s RS232 or TTL jack. 4370-0001 RJ11-to-25 adapter or a P with a 25-pin RS232 port. 1088-9108 RJ11-to-9 adapter or a P with a 9-pin RS232 port. 1092-7802 lphanet plus for Windows v1.2 software 1092-7821 Simply Theater software daptive Micro Systems, Inc 7840 N. 86th St Milwaukee, WI US 53224 414.357.2020 (phone) 414.357.2029 (fax) sales@ams-i.com www.ams-i.com

NETWORKING LPH SIGNS OR THETER SOLUTIONS v2.0-2 Multiple sign networks with lphanet plus or Simply Theater software Use this setup when multiple signs need to be connected to a serial (RS485) network. This network requires the installation of RS485 wiring. Up to 255 signs can be connected and individually addressed in this type of network. RS485 Maximum network length = 10,000 feet (for 1200 baud) 4,000 feet (for 9600 baud) To next sign. E G 1088-8624 8-foot RS485 cable Plugs into the sign s RS485 jack. (The last sign on the network 1088-8636 1-foot RS485 cable (recommended) must have an End-Of-Line terminator in the sign s RS232 jack.) 4331-0602 Modular Network dapter Used to interconnect signs. 1088-8000 RS485 cable (1000 foot spool) Used to interconnect signs. 1088-1111 onverter ox III onverts RS232 signals to RS485 signals. E 1088-8634 Type 9 RS232 cable onnects onverter ox III to P RS232 port. 9-to-25 adapter Required if P has a 25-pin RS232 port. G 1092-7802 lphanet plus for Windows v1.2 software 1092-7821 Simply Theater software or more information on RS485 networking, see the document Network onfigurations (9708-8046). daptive Micro Systems, Inc 7840 N. 86th St Milwaukee, WI US 53224 414.357.2020 (phone) 414.357.2029 (fax) sales@ams-i.com www.ams-i.com

NETWORKING LPH SIGNS OR THETER SOLUTIONS v2.0-3 One-to-four sign networks with lphanet plus or lpha Messaging software Use this setup when 1 to 4 signs need to be connected to an Ethernet network. The lphanet plus software has the ability to display a unique message on each of the four signs in this network. However, the lpha Messaging software can only send messages to one sign, not four. This setup also requires the use of the Redirector software. Ethernet Ethernet LN using TP/IP protocol (10SE-T using lpha Ethernet dapter) or (100SE-T using MSS100) In order to network LPH signs to a 100SE-T Ethernet LN, each LPH sign must be connected to the LN using a MSS100 Micro Serial Server (see below). 1092-7802 lphanet plus for Windows v1.2 software Redirector software must also be used. (This software is included with the 1092-9102 lpha Messaging v1.0 software lpha Ethernet dapter kit. See below.) The P must be connected to the Ethernet LN with a network card. 1088-9120 lpha Ethernet dapter kit Each lpha Ethernet dapter is mounted on the back of the sign and draws it power from the sign itself (no separate power supply is needed). Each lpha Ethernet dapter will need its own unique IP address. (10SE-T only) 1088-4113 MSS100 Micro Serial Server Same as above, but either 10SE-T or 100SE-T. or information on using lpha Ethernet dapters and Redirector software, see the document Networking lpha signs with lpha Ethernet dapters (pn 9708-8093). daptive Micro Systems, Inc 7840 N. 86th St Milwaukee, WI US 53224 414.357.2020 (phone) 414.357.2029 (fax) sales@ams-i.com www.ams-i.com

NETWORKING LPH SIGNS OR THETER SOLUTIONS v2.0-4 Multiple sign networks with lphanet plus software Use this setup when multiple signs need to be connected to an Ethernet network. The number of signs in this network is only limited by the number of available IP addresses. The MSS1-T (or MSS100) Micro Serial Server must be configured to operate like a modem. The lphanet plus software has the ability to display a unique message on each of the signs in this network. Ethernet MSS1-T or MSS100 Ethernet LN using TP/IP protocol (10SE-T using lpha Ethernet dapter) or (100SE-T using MSS100) In order to network LPH signs to a 100SE-T Ethernet LN, each LPH sign must be connected to the LN using a MSS100 Micro Serial Server (see below). lso, the P running lphanet plus software must be connected to the Ethernet LN using a MSS100 (see below). 1092-7802 lphanet plus for Windows v1.2 software 1088-8611 Null modem cable onnects MSS1-T (or MSS100) to the P s RS232 port. 1088-4111 MSS1-T Micro Serial Server The MSS1-T (or MSS100) must be configured to act like a modem. Each sign on the LN can then be addressed by using the IP address of the lpha Ethernet dapter attached to the sign. This IP address 1088-4113 MSS100 Micro Serial Server is sent to the MSS1-T (or MSS100) as part of a standard modem TT command. 1088-9120 lpha Ethernet dapter kit Each lpha Ethernet dapter will need its own IP address. These will probably have to be assigned by a network administrator. or information on using lpha Ethernet dapters, see the document Networking lpha signs with lpha Ethernet dapters (pn 9708-8093). daptive Micro Systems, Inc 7840 N. 86th St Milwaukee, WI US 53224 414.357.2020 (phone) 414.357.2029 (fax) sales@ams-i.com www.ams-i.com

NETWORKING LPH SIGNS OR THETER SOLUTIONS v2.0-5 Multiple sign networks with lphanet plus software Use this setup when multiple signs need to be connected to an Ethernet network and an RS485 network. Using the Redirector software, up to four MSS485 Micro Serial Servers can be used, and up to 255 signs can be connected to each of these serial servers. The lphanet plus software has the ability to display a unique message on each of the signs in this network. Ethernet / RS485 MSS485 Ethernet LN (10SE-T) using TP/IP protocol RS485 network 1092-7802 lphanet plus for Windows v1.2 software Redirector software must also be used. (This software is included with the MSS485 Micro Serial Server. See below.) The P must be connected to the Ethernet LN with a network card. E 1088-4112 MSS485 Micro Serial Server Used to connect an Ethernet and a RS485 network. The MSS485 must be assigned an IP address which the lphanet plus software uses to address this device. Up to four MSS485s can be used, and each can address up to 255 signs. 4331-0602 Modular Network dapter Used to interconnect signs. E 1088-8000 RS485 cable (1000 foot spool) Used to interconnect signs. 1088-8624 8-foot RS485 cable 1088-8636 1-foot RS485 cable (recommended) Plugs into the sign s RS485 jack. (The last sign on the network must have an End-Of-Line terminator in the sign s RS232 jack.) or information on using lpha Ethernet dapters and Redirector software, see the document Networking lpha signs with lpha Ethernet dapters (pn 9708-8093). daptive Micro Systems, Inc 7840 N. 86th St Milwaukee, WI US 53224 414.357.2020 (phone) 414.357.2029 (fax) sales@ams-i.com www.ams-i.com
