Supported Platform FortiVoice Enterprise Phone System version 3.0.5 (build 191) release supports the following platforms: FortiVoice 200D FortiVoice 200D-T FortiVoice 2000E-T2 FortiVoice-VM 4
Feature Highlights The following list highlights some features in the FortiVoice Enterprise Phone System 3.0.5 release. For more information, see the FortiVoice Enterprise Phone System Administration Guide. SIP trunk authentication name Authentication user name field is added in SIP trunk configuration to meet the requirement of some VoIP service providers. Enhanced PRI R2 signalling In configuring a PRI E1 span, selecting PRI R2 signalling lets you add DTMF dialing and answering. Enhanced music on hold streaming proxy The FortiVoice unit automatically reconnects to remote server for music streaming after network outage. Enhanced NTP service The FortiVoice unit synchronizes with NTP Server to automatically set the system date and time. It can also work as a NTP server and update the date and time on the extensions accordingly. 5
Special Notices TFTP Firmware Install Using TFTP via the serial console to install firmware during system boot time will erase all current FortiVoice configurations and replace them with factory default settings. Monitor Settings for Web UI Fortinet recommends setting your monitor to a screen resolution of at least 1280x1024. This allows for all objects in the web UI to be viewed properly. Recommended Web Browsers Internet Explorer 7 or higher Firefox 3.5 or higher Safari 4 or higher Adobe Flash Player 9 or higher plug-in required to display statistics charts 6
Firmware Upgrade/Downgrade Information Before and after any firmware upgrade/downgrade Before any firmware upgrade/downgrade, save a copy of your FortiVoice configuration (including replacement messages and user data) by going to System > Maintenance > Configuration. After any firmware upgrade/downgrade, if you are using the web UI, clear the browser cache prior to login on the FortiVoice unit to ensure proper display of the web UI screens. Upgrade path For any older 2.x.x release Any 2.x.x release 3.0.5 (Build 191) For 3.0.x release 3.0.x release 3.0.5 (Build 191) After every upgrade, verify that the build number and version number match the image that was loaded. To do so, go to Status > Dashboard > Dashboard. Firmware downgrade Firmware downgrade is not recommended. Before downgrading, consult Fortinet Technical Support first. If you must downgrade, follow the procedures below: Downgrading from 3.0.5 to 3.0.x release Downgrading from 3.0.5 to 3.0.x release is not fully supported and may cause data loss. If you have to downgrade, follow these steps: 1. Back up the 3.0.5 configuration. 2. Install the older 3.0.x image. 3. In the CLI, enter execute factoryreset to reset the FortiVoice unit to factory defaults. Note that you will lose all of the FortiVoice configurations by doing so. 7
4. Configure the device IP address and other network settings. 5. Reload the 3.0.x backup configuration saved before upgrading to 3.0.5. Downgrading from 3.0.5 to 2.x.x releases Downgrading from 3.0.5 to 2.x.x releases is not fully supported and may cause data loss. If you have to downgrade, follow these steps: 1 Back up the 3.0.5 configuration. 2 Install the older 2.x.x image. 3 In the CLI, enter execute factoryreset to reset the FortiVoice unit to factory defaults. Resolved Issues This section lists the resolved issues in this release, but is not a complete list. For inquires about a particular bug, please contact Fortinet Technical Support. Caller ID display issue (ID 256500) Original caller s CID information is not displayed when the call is routed to a remote extension. Trunk status issue (ID 261521) Trunk status column does not show "'In Service" when there is an active call on the trunk. Fax data not synchronized to HA slave unit (ID 263322) Faxes and fax archive are not carried over to a slave unit when using HA to backup data. PRI E1 settings issue (ID 263578) Settings of PRI E1 may be lost when upgrading the firmware from GA 3.0.3 or earlier to GA 3.0.4. 9
Image Checksums To verify the integrity of the firmware file, use a checksum tool and compute the firmware file's MD5 checksum. Compare it with the checksum indicated by Fortinet. If the checksums match, the file is intact. MD5 checksums for Fortinet software and firmware releases are available from Fortinet Customer Service & Support. After logging in to the web site, near the bottom of the page, click the Firmware Checksums button. (The button appears only if one or more of your devices have a current support contract.) In the File Name field, enter the firmware image file name including its extension, then click Get Checksum Code. 10
