Advanced Electronic Not Invasive Buoy-Field System System Description and Application

What is MarPark MarPark is an innovative mooring system, based on electronic and not invasive buoys, studied for a sustainable use of best marine areas. Bookable via internet or call center, MarPark is able to either recognize customer automatically and activate requested services or, in case of unauthorized use, to send an alarm message. Developed for Protected Marine Areas, it is now applied in several valuable touristic areas, outside Marine Parks too. 1. Internet or call center booking procedure 2. SeaPass delivery 3. Mooring within MarPark area 4. Acknowledgement SMS message 5. Services supply

Environmental Safeguard The Problem Anchors are the primary cause of damage to the seabed and in particular to the Posidonia, a species of sea grass protected by international treaties, that acts like forests on land for biodiversity, coastal erosion protection and oxygenation. Marine areas and seabed without Posidonia must also be protected from excessive crowding of boats, responsible of pollution and safety problems. The Solution Prohibiting free anchorage in precious and fragile marine areas Limiting boats number, according to characteristic of different areas Installing zero-impact and well dimensioned buoy-field MarPark system, installed with not invasive techniques, allows electronic reservation and management of mooring: transparent and efficient protection-and-use method of valuable marine areas Images of seabed, damaged by anchors (CoNISMa Study for SafeBay in Cala di Volpe)

Anchorage devices The ancorage devices are both designed case by case and realized by Italgest Mare, using specific underwater machinery They are zero-impact plants, constituted by mechanical expansion devices, set into sand, clay or rock by means exclusive techniques, which guarantee always a big over-resistance. MarPark for boats MarPark Porto Cervo (SafeBay Costa Smeralda) Main roles of this buoy fields are: Seabed protection, containment of boats presence near around harbours, reduction of pollution and navigation risk within these areas.

MarPark for ships (Cala di Volpe SafeBay Costa Smeralda) MarPark is designed for boats until 100 mt. long, under condition of maximum 40 knots wind speed. In order to guarantee safety and comfort, within MarPark buoy fields: Boat speed limit is 3 knots, Ships in motion are not allowed to approac h those ones in mooring. The mooring circle of each boat is free from the others. Maxi yacht mooring in Cala di Volpe - August 2007

Active MarPark buoy fields - Year 2007 ITALIA Sardegna Costa Smeralda - SafeBay (Italgest & Smeralda Holding ) Capo Carbonara (Italgest & Marina di Villasimius) Liguria Cinque Terre (Italgest & Blu Dream) Puglia Otranto (Italgest & Comune di Otranto) Porto Giunco - Villasimius Porto Cervo Costa Smeralda GRECIA Patrasso (Italgest & ADEP) Vernazza Cinque Terre

Management results 2007 MarPark is well accepted from boats, especially from the big ones and from ships. Within the three operative MarPark buoy fields over 600 costumers (more then 300 boats in Costa Smeralda, more then 100 ships betw een 30 and 80 meters) paid to moor their boats Many marine areas ask for MarPark to install within their territory Many local enterprises are interested in cooperating with MarPark Team Mass media interest for MarPark is always high
