3 AQUAWORKS The instrument for leakage detection and pressure control ACTIVE PRESSURE MANAGEMENT AQUAWORKS is a specialized software that assists the operator to immediately capture the most important events in water network: from the DMAs creation to the leak detection. Using the operator language it helps to evaluate the network efficiency and to practice a leakage management more effective. The PMZ management becomes particularly effective and the manager can verify network performance using real data and IWA indicators. AQUAWORKS is a powerful analysis tool able to identify and capture every critical event by presenting it clearly to the management service. Even in very extended and complex networks, the manager can evaluate in real-time the network efficiency, estimating the leakage, monitoring pressure values and performing any intervention / maintenance / configuration action at the right time. DMAS ORGANIZATION The districts are topologically identified and organized through the water balance calculated thanks to the values taken from the instrumentation and from statistical and theoretical assessments. Each district is characterized by the data acquired from aqueduct, users and instrumentation applied. FUNCTIONS Graphical analysis show the trend of flows and pressures with special reference to nocturnal behaviors Comparisons between different periods in the same district or different districts Loss estimation in accordance with IWA indicators Evaluation of fault repair and operation recovery effects Evaluation of improvement convenience Efficiency evaluation and reporting Alarm in case of exceeding thresholds Pressure transient notification THE CONTROL TECHNOLOGY GROUP
4 AQUAWORKS The AQUAWORKS software main functions are: DISTRICTS MANAGEMENT Each district is associated to its own detection instruments set installed (also temporarily) in order to be able to evaluate the leakage, making easier their calculation both by methods provided by the Italian legislation (decree 99/97) and those developed by the technicians of IWA Water Losses Specialist Group, the world association born on a problem known everywhere: the water leaks. VARIABLES CALCULATED ELABORATION The trace is the sequence of values corresponding to a variable. The traces can be natural, that is reflecting exactly the variable in field, or calculated (variables linked by arithmetic operations, derived, minimal, maximal, medium), flow derivations from a tank level s trend. TRACES VISUALIZATION BY ADVANCED GRAPHIC FUNCTIONS A powerful graphic display shows the trend of the variables, aggregated according to the customer needs. This function supplies a clear image of the situation and its evolution. Each trace is supported by a line of statistics enclosing: minimum, maximum, medium, volumes integration (in case of FLOWS). STATISTIC TRACES VISUALIZATION data representation s interval variation starting from 5 min. up to 24 hours: corresponding to the data average within the 24 hours corresponding to the minimum within the 24 hours corresponding to the maximum within the 24 hours related to the time interval selected, i.e. minimum from to representation scale variation, i.e. from l/s up to m3/hour, from bar to m.c.a. TARGET SETTING In order to give objectivity to the information recorded, the traces are compared with target lines corresponding to the minimum and maximum dispersion level in each district. IDENTIFICATION AND REPORTING OF LEAKAGE Based on the investigation strategy, generally deviation or remarkable discontinuities, reports of such interceptions are provided. The reports are graphic type or as alarm message transmitted via e- mail or SMS. EVALUATION OF INTERVENTIONS At last it is possible to evaluate the actual effectiveness of any localization and repair intervention and the recovery of dispersed volumes.
