Reg Corkum Equine Photography Course September Field Trip and October 26, 27, 2013 Five Fires Equestrian Center, 1554 Highway 289, Greens Creek, NS Reg brings an eclectic and enviable resume to his photography and art. Trained at the Ontario College of Art, he started his career as a successful fashion photographer in Europe, spending eight years there and shooting for such publications as Vogue, Marie Claire and Moda, in France, Italy, Germany and Spain. Upon return to Canning, Nova Scotia, Reg rekindled his passion for horses (he groomed for Canadian Equestrian Team Show Jumping Captain James Elder as a young man), and launched what has become a very successful career as an equine photographer, shooting some of the biggest and most prestigious horse shows in North America. He s collaborated with some of the industry s best, including Flashpoint (Texas), Lili Weik (Virginia), Deb Dawson (CalifornIa), Ed Moore (California) and more. His major circuit coverage includes Hits Ocala (Florida), Hits Culpepper (Virginia), Hits New York, Brownland Farms (Tennessee), Pebble Beach (California), Del Mar (California), The Hampton Classic (New York), etc. l will do my best to help improve your skills. As the industry evolves, I believe education is an advantage, to combine with your personal approach to each situation. Reg Corkum Course Description: The course will be offered in two parts (1) a two hour field trip to shoot on location, and (2) a weekend at Five Fires Equestrian Center which will include theory and practice. Participants may choose to enroll in either one, or to take both. 1. Field Trip, Old Bull Farm, Brooklyn The date for this field trip will be decided fairly last minute to ensure weather is good. It is likely to be a mid September early evening, week day shoot, on a sunny day to yield best results for light and color.
Reg says, we can operate as a group and I would be shooting as well - a Follow the Leader type of scenario. I would verbalize what I am looking for and what I find most appealing based on my experience and what presents itself to us naturally, and this would give insight for adapting to the situation and producing an attractive result. To Register For The Field Trip: The cost of the field trip is $50.00 + HST ($57.50) and since notification of the date may be only a few days in advance, the fee and signed waiver may be brought to the session. Date, time and meeting arrangements will be provided to those who notify me by email (carol@fivefires.ca) that they wish to attend. 2. Weekend Course, Five Fires Equestrian Center The weekend course will be held in the lounge and indoor arena at Five Fires Equestrian Center. It will include both theory and practice for various scenarios working horses, portrait, at liberty, etc. If weather permits, the group will take advantage of fall foliage for some outdoor shots. The weekend course will be followed by a show and sale of student work at a future date determined by the class. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided. Directions To Five Fires Take Highway 102, between Halifax and Truro, and take exit 12 at Brookfield. Turn away from Brookfield on Highway 289, and drive for approximately 5 minutes to reach # 1554 - Five Fires Equestrian Center, on the right hand side, A on the map.
