Mediator/Arbitrator Biographies Jay N. Abramowitch, Esquire is a partner in the Wyomissing law firm of Leisawitz Heller Abramowitch Phillips, P.C. He heads the Civil Litigation Section of the firm and has taught and lectured in varying areas of civil litigation. He received his B.A. with Honors from Lafayette College in 1964 and his J.D. from Dickinson School of Law in 1967. For the past 30 years he has limited his practice to civil litigation in the areas of motor vehicle accidents, general negligence, and products liability. He is an active member of the Berks County Bar Association and has served on various committees involving civil litigation. He is a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and an active member of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He is a member of the Berks County Bar Association s Civil Dispute Resolution Program and has been certified as an approved arbitrator in Berks County. In that capacity he has arbitrated many disputes and served as an arbitrator in innumerable uninsured and underinsured motorist arbitrations, both in Berks County and other counties in Pennsylvania. He has authored numerous articles for Pennsylvania publications such as the Pennsylvania Law Weekly and the Pennsylvania Bar Quarterly in areas of litigation. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and has been named to America's Registry of Outstanding Professionals, and the National Registry of Who's Who. Daniel E. P. Bausher, Esquire graduated from Juniata College in 1976 and from Dickinson School of Law in 1979. Since 1979, he has been employed at Stevens & Lee performing civil litigation. He is presently the head of the Personal Injury Trial Group at Stevens & Lee and does both plaintiff and defense personal injury work. He is admitted to practice in all courts in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Madelyn S. Fudeman, Esquire attended Finch College in New York City and the University of Miami School of Law (J.D. 1988). Ms. Fudeman served as an Assistant State Attorney to Janet Reno in the 11 th Judicial Circuit of Florida from 1989 through 1992 and is a shareholder with the Wyomissing law Firm of Essig, Valeriano & Fudeman, P.C. practicing primarily in the areas of civil litigation, business, real estate, zoning and land use, commercial transactions, bankruptcy, and wills and estates.

Ms. Fudeman is a certified Mediator/Arbitrator and a founding member of the Berks County Bar Association s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program. She has served as its Chairperson since its inception in 1997. Stephen J. Gring, Esquire A graduate of the Business School of Temple University (1969 B.B.A.) and Dickinson School of Law (1973 J.D.), Steve is an original member of the Civil Dispute Resolution Program as well as a Mediator of real estate transaction disputes for the Reading-Berks Association of Realtors. In numerous uninsured/underinsured motorist cases, he has served as the neutral arbitrator as well as a party arbitrator. Hatt, Esquire is an attorney with a practice concentrated in the area of civil litigation, including personal injury, commercial, construction, municipal and employment claims. He accepts appointments as a Neutral Arbitrator in Underinsured Motorist cases. Mr. Hatt is admitted to practice before all Pennsylvania Courts, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, U. S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. David M. Kozloff, Esquire has more than forty years of civil litigation experience in state and federal courts, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. He is a member of Kozloff Stoudt, and chairs the firm s litigation section. He is admitted to practice in the courts of Pennsylvania, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Kozloff s trial practice includes serious personal injury and death cases, fire and explosion litigation, commercial disputes and estate and trust litigation. He has argued cases regularly in the Commonwealth Court, Superior Court and Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He has lectured on civil litigation practice for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the Berks County Bar Association. He is certified as a mediator/arbitrator and was an original member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution panel, and is an appointed arbitration chairman in the Court of Common Pleas of Berks County. Mr. Kozloff has been an approved member of the mediation panel of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, as well as serving as a privately engaged neutral. He is a member and former president (1992) of the Berks County Bar Association, a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and its Civil Litigation Section, and a former member of the House of Delegates. In addition, he is a member of the American Bar Association and its Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section. Mr. Kozloff is a graduate of Harvard College (A.B. cum laude, 1963) and the University of Pennsylvania (LL.B. 1966). Karen Feryo Longenecker, Esquire is a Berks County Custody and Support Master and a solo practitioner. She was admitted to the bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in 1986; the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania in 1987; the U.S. Tax Court in 1988; the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Pennsylvania in 1991; and the United States Supreme Court in 1998. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Scranton (B.A., Cum Laude, 1983) and her law degree at the University of Bridgeport (J.D. 1986). She is a member of the Berks County Bar Association (former Treasurer) and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. She has served as a mediator for the United States Bankruptcy Court of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and is a former member of the Muhlenberg Township Zoning Hearing Board. She has worked as Child Custody and Support Master in Berks County since 2001. In this capacity, she conducts support hearings and custody conciliation conferences. Her private practice is primarily in the areas of Real Estate Law, Estate Planning and Administration, Commercial Law and Debtor and Creditor Rights. Frederick R. Mogel, Esquire was awarded a B.A. in Economics in 1977 from Syracuse University and a J.D. in 1980 from Weidner University School of Law (Delaware Campus). Mr. Mogel is active in many local, state, and national Bar Association committees. At the Berks County level, he is a member of the Entertainment (past chair), Bench Bar (past chair), and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committees and the Family Law Section (past chair). At the Pennsylvania Bar Association level, he is a member of the Real Property, Probate Trust Law, and Family Law Sections, and at the national level, the American Bar Association, he is a member of the section on Family Law. Mr. Mogel was a past President of the Endlich Law Club as well as the Young Lawyers Section of the Berks County Bar Association. He was also a former Treasurer and a President of the Berks County Bar Association. Mr. Mogel concentrates his practice primarily in the areas of family law, residential and commercial real estate

(including mortgage foreclosure, zoning and planning), municipal law, estate planning and administration and as arbitrator in UIM/UM arbitrations (usually as the neutral) through ADR Options, Inc., (as one of two approved arbitrators/mediators of Berks County) and as a mediator/arbitrator through the Berks County Bar Association s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program. John E. Muir, Esquire is a partner with the Reading law firm of Roland & Schlegel. He received his bachelor s degree in political science from Albright College in 1990 and his law degree from Widener University School of Law in 1993. He served as an Assistant District Attorney with the Berks County District Attorney s Office from 1993 through 1997. Since 1997, he has been actively engaged in a litigation practice in which he does both plaintiff and defense personal injury work. In addition to personal injury work, he has significant experience in defending medical malpractice claims, as well as representing plaintiffs in medical malpractice actions outside of Berks County. Mr. Muir is active in the Berks County Bar Association and is the current Chairman of the Civil Litigation Section and past Chairman of the Municipal Law Section. He presently serves as the Solicitor to the Womelsdorf Sewer Authority and the Oley Township Municipal Authority. He has served as special counsel to numerous municipalities and school districts throughout Berks County in litigation and condemnation matters. Mr. Muir is active in the community and has held various leadership roles with the YMCA of Reading and Berks County. Mr. Muir concentrates his practice primarily in the areas of litigation, personal injury and medical malpractice defense, and municipal law. He is certified as a mediator/arbitrator of the Berks County Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution panel, and is an appointed arbitrator chairman in the Court of Common Pleas of Berks County. W. Edwin Ogden, Esquire chairs the Ryan, Russell, Ogden & Seltzer P.C. mediation services practice, building upon his expertise and extensive experience, spanning more than thirty years. He has served as lead trial counsel in numerous civil proceedings, including in particular eminent domain cases and extensive and highly-contested regulatory proceedings involving public utilities. He has litigated large and complex regulatory proceedings, and assisted clients with the resolution of legislative and regulatory public policy issues through broad-based stakeholder processes. Successfully crafting negotiated settlements in many of these cases has been immensely satisfying, and led him to develop the firm's mediation services practice. In addition to his other professional associations, he is an active member of the Dispute Resolution Section of the American Bar Association and has completed specialized mediation training, and holds certificates, from the Pepperdine University School of Law and the Institute for Conflict Management. He has also completed training with respect to public school education issues within Pennsylvania. Mr. Ogden is proud to serve on

a panel of mediators and arbitrators for the Berks County Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee. Mr. Ogden's preferred focus is on mediation, rather than arbitration. For many business disputes the process of mediation can create solutions that would not be available through litigation or arbitration. Many public policy initiatives also benefit from a creative mediation process where diverse stakeholder views and interests can be heard and accommodated. Jesse L. Pleet, Esquire received a B.S. in Accounting from The Pennsylvania State University in 1977. He attended Alvernia College in 1978 and 1979 for thirty credits of Criminal Justice. He attended Delaware Law School and obtained his J.D. in 1981. Mr. Pleet was a judicial law clerk for the Court of Common Pleas of Lebanon County from 1981 to 1982. He was admitted to the Bar in 1981 and has been admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a Certified Civil Trial Advocate from the National Board of Trial Advocacy. His current practice is approximately 50% plaintiff and 50% defense work. His clients include personal injury victims, insurance carriers, and self-insured corporations. He concentrates his practice primarily in personal injury, workers' compensation, employment litigation, and institutional debt recoveries. He is a certified instrument pilot and has taught Aviation Law in the Professional Pilot Training Program at Reading Area Community College. He serves on numerous charitable boards and holds numerous professional memberships. Mr. Pleet has been a certified mediator/arbitrator for the program since its inception in 1997. John J. Speicher, Esquire has been practicing in Berks County, Pennsylvania since November of 1976. He has extensive civil trial practice in personal injury and commercial litigation and has presented cases in various Courts of Common Pleas throughout the eastern portion of Pennsylvania, as well as the united States District court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the Middle District of Pennsylvania. He earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Penn State University, Smeal College of Business, and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, degree from Temple University School of Law in 1974. He was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1974 and subsequently to the United States District Court Eastern and Middle Districts as well as the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has been engaged in general business litigation and personal injury litigation in Berks County since 1974, has written and lectured on trial practice subjects, has taught business law at Penn State University, Berks Campus. He is a certified graduate of the forty (40) hour course in Divorce, Custody and Support Mediation conducted by the Berks County Bar Association and the Mediation Training and Consultation Institute, as well as the standard six (6) hour course conducted through the ADR Committee. He has regularly served as mediator and/or arbitrator in all types of civil litigation, including commercial, personal injury and domestic matters for a period in excess of twenty-five (25) years. His personal trial practice has been evenly distributed among representation of plaintiffs and defendants, including personal injury cases, complex business dissolution related cases, general business litigation, and insurance contract law disputes. He has actively served as an arbitration chairman and mediator in the Court of Common Pleas and by private appointment since 1974. He was certified as a Family Court Mediator in 2006 and as an approved mediator/arbitrator for the Civil Dispute Resolution Program in April, 2008. He maintains an AV Peer Review Rating with Martindale-Hubbell Attorney Rating Service and is included in various other publications listing pre-eminent Berks County attorneys.
