The Ohio State University College of Dentistry D.D.S. Student Awards List 2008 Dental Hygiene Student Awards List 2008 D.D.S. Student Awards Dr. Jason Peacock, 3 rd Year Advanced Prosthodontics resident, won the OSU Astra Tech Dental implant Posterior Challenge competition and was also the first place winner of the Academy of Prosthodontics Foundation Research Grant Award. Tyler Scott (D3) has been elected to serve as this year s American Student Dental Association (ASDA) representative for District 6. Dr. Brent Rigby, 2 nd Year Advanced Prosthodontics resident, was awarded a grant from the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias.
Charu Gupta (D2) and Rebecca Goldberg (D2) both received the poster prize in the student category at the Ohio Dental Association annual meeting. Charu Gupta Rebecca Goldberg Brian Fangman (D4) received the OSU Student Recognition Award for June 2008. Jaqueline Mays (D3) won the award for the most outstanding presentation in basic science research at the Hinman Symposium in Memphis.
Jaqueline Mays (D3) was honored with the Student Clinician Award from the American Dental Association. Erin McMurray, a junior dental hygiene student, has been selected to serve as the 2008 District V Student Delegate to the 2008 American Dental Hygienists Association Annual Session Jacqueline Mays won the 1st place prize for the PhD/Resident Award at the annual OSU Dentistry Research Day competition.
Alireza Moshaverina won the 2nd place prize for the PhD/Resident Award at the annual OSU Dentistry Research Day competition. No Photo Available Eileen Farahay won the Academy of Osseointegration Outstanding Dental Student in Implants Award, which supports scientific investigation in the field of dental implants. Eileen Farahay won the student award from the Academy of Operative Dentistry as the OSU student who provided the most outstanding restorative care to his or her patients.
Kathleen Varley was chosen as the ADEA Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Preventive Dentistry Scholar (2008), which recognizes academic excellence in preventive dentistry. David Gailey won the student Alumni Research Achievement Award (2007). The Ohio State University Dental Alumni Society presents this award to a senior dental student who demonstrates outstanding achievement in research. Lesya Kulick won the student award from the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. Ryan Abbott won the student award from the American Academy of Dental Practice Administration, which recognizes professional
growth in managerial skills and development of outstanding performance in four-handed dentistry. Brent August won the student award from the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. Donald Rehl won the student award from the American Academy of General Dentistry. Jason Coliadis won the student award from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry for his demonstrated initiative in advancing the art and science of implant dentistry.
Andrew Rummel won the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology award, which recognizes interest and accomplishment in the field of oral pathology. Robert Scoresby won the student award from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry for his interest and proficiency in the care of young patients. Ruchi Nagpal won the student award from the American Academy of Periodontology as a graduating senior who displays the highest level of academic and clinical achievement related to periodontics.
Michael Simpson won the American Association of Endodontists Student Achievement Award for his outstanding achievements in endodontics. Ashley Paulus won the student award from the American Association of Oral Biologists. The award recognizes a worthy senior dental student who demonstrates original research in the biology of the oral cavity or related structures, and who also demonstrates high academic achievement in basic science courses and displays an interest or appreciation for teaching in oral biology and public understanding of research and education in oral biology. David Gailey won the student award from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and Anesthesiology
for his outstanding performance in undergraduate study and clinical training in the area of oral and maxillofacial surgery and anesthesiology. Brent Paulus won the student award from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology for his outstanding performance in undergraduate study and clinical training in the area of oral and maxillofacial radiology. Ross Gille won the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Dental Implant Student Award for his outstanding performance in undergraduate study and clinical training in the area of implant placement.

Heather Crockett-Washington won the Washington AAWD Eleanor J. Bushee Senior Student Award, which honors senior dental students who have achieved academic excellence and have demonstrated outstanding leadership.
Michael Sullivan won the American College of Dentists Outstanding Dental Student Award, which is awarded by individual sections and recognizes senior dental students for demonstrated leadership and outstanding scholastic performance. Michael Wasco won the Berkowitz Senior Alumni Award. Nathaniel Farley won the Carl O. Boucher Prosthodontic Conference Award, which is presented to an outstanding student senior who excels in the field of prosthodontics. Ashley Paulus won the 1st Place prize for Clinical Excellence Day Patient/Poster Awards (2008).
