Program Outline Module 1 Foundations Digital Photography Foundation We begin with the basics to build a strong and solid understanding of your camera as a tool and of you as the master craftsman. Each segment within the Foundation module reinforces that you are the master behind the lens and that you are capable of achieving amazing results. The basic functions of the camera are explored extensively while your eyes are opened to study the light around you in a more significant way. Through projects and critiques you will develop a keen sense of how each function treats light differently and how you, the master, can control and manipulate it. You will emerge with a new awareness of yourself as an artist, your camera as a tool and the world as your canvas. Digital Editing Foundation Pre-visualizing, composing and executing your shot is only part of the process when making great images. Knowing how to properly import and edit them can make or break the success of a photo. Creating a smart and efficient workflow is a key to keeping a busy photographer organized and able to meet client demands. Lightroom has become the industry standard among working professionals for its database and management capabilities as well as its powerful editing tools. In this module you will learn the ins and outs of Lightroom s cataloging tool and establish a workflow that suits your specialty. You will also learn editing basics and techniques that are relevant to your chosen genre. These techniques vary from portraits to products and each demands a specific mastery. Learning what tools to use and how to apply edits with expert skill will put the final, professional touch on all your images. Adobe Photoshop remains the gold standard of editing programs. It s capabilities are immense and there is a wide range of design and editing you can achieve. In our Photoshop for Photographers class, you will learn techniques relevant to working photographers and examine best practices vital to a studio workflow. 4 Digital Photography Units 6 weeks each unit 3 Digital Editing Units 6 weeks each unit Basic I Lightroom 101 Library Module & Workflow Basic II Lightroom 102 Develop Module & Beyond Basic III Photoshop for Photographers Creative Black & White * Foundation Classes run concurrently beginning with Basic II. Within this module, you will continue your exploration of light, the effects of different types and temperatures and how to use it to your advantage. You will work with natural and supplemental light, learn when to choose one versus the other and when to blend them.
