Curse Descriptin Intrductin t the case management prcess and prcedures used in cunseling and human service settings Curse Gals: Develp a cnceptual understanding f case and caselad management and ability t apply this knwledge t different ppulatins and settings. Practical Curse Descriptin Case management in rehabilitatin is a cllabrative prcess f assessment planning, facilitatin and advcacy fr ptins and services t meet the needs f the client (CMSA, 1995). It is the prcess f linking, managing and/r rganizing services in a wide variety f settings t meet client needs (Huber, 1996). Effective case and caselad management results in psitive utcmes. II. Learning Objectives The curse will fcus n dcumentatin, planning, prblem-slving prcesses, and management techniques assciated with the vcatinal issues fr individuals with disabilities. An emphasis is placed n verall gal f quality f life f individuals served. The fllwing are learning bjectives will be addressed in this class: increase understanding f the imprtance f multicultural and diversity issues in ethical case management increase understanding f the range, type, availability f and criteria fr accessing cmmunity resurces; increase understanding f the varius mdels / settings f rehabilitatin case management;

Evaluatin/Grading Scale Quizzes (10@10 pints each) Each quiz will be wrth 10 pints and will cver the assigned reading fr that class. The quizzes will include multiple chice, true/false, matching, fill in the blank, and shrt answer questins. N make-up quizzes will be given. Being in class is imprtant t btain quiz pints. (100 pssible pints) **Nte: Lectures are supplementary t readings. Nt all materials cvered in the readings may be repeated in class. Likewise, nt all curse material presented in class may be included in the text. Midterm Exam (1@40 pints) Student will have in-class midterm exam where they will prepare respnses t questins asked. (40 pssible pints). Case Studies (3@10 pints each) Student will prepare respnses t case studies ffered related t situatins/scenaris faced by case managers/cunselrs (30 pssible pints). Final Exam (1@40 pints) Student will have in-class final exam where they will prepare respnses t questins asked. (40 pssible pints). V. NOTES This is a required class in the RCT prgram. As such, attendance/participatin is encuraged. In the pinin f faculty fr this curse, attendance des nt equate t participatin; rather participatin requires reading/reviewing assigned readings prir t class and cntributing t class discussins. Students in this class are expected t prduce high quality wrk. Faculty (Dr. Kch and TA) are available t assist (r t direct yu t the apprpriate resurces n campus). Hwever, yu must allw enugh time fr such assistance. If yu have questins r need assistance, make sure t cntact faculty well in advance f deadlines. In ther wrds dn t wait until the last minute! There will be n cell phne use r texting during class. Laptps/tablets may be used during class but may nt be used during in class quizzes r exams. Attendance Plicy: There is n specified attendance plicy fr this class. Hwever, research has shwn that students wh attend class typically get higher grades than students wh dn t. Mrever, because part f yur grade is cntingent n participating in the class discussins, cming t class will help yu achieve a better grade than if yu miss class. With regard t plagiarism, there will be zer-tlerance in this class. Plagiarism, here, is defined as representing anther s wrk as ne s wn, including any instance f singly r cmbining any f the fllwing withut acknwledging the riginal surce: paraphrasing r directly quting anther s wrk (either wrd-fr-wrd, r paraphrase by wrd substitutin r rder mdificatin); r using anther s written r spken theries, hyptheses, ideas, pinin r statistics when they are nt cmmn knwledge ; r using anther s tables, graphics r previusly submitted wrk. In all instances f using anther s wrk, acknwledgment must be in a manner cnsistent with APA-6 th editin. Vilatins will result in cnsequences cnsistent with the extent f the plagiarism and whether the instance was the first r latest ffense, including lss f credit n the assignment, lss f letter grade in class, and failure f class.
