I. ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS THE SKANEATELES CENTRAL SCHOOL ENDOWMENT FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS. Through the help of an anonymous benefactor, endowment scholarships are awarded to seniors at graduation. These scholarships are applied to tuition, books and fees as needed, to any college or university of the recipient s choice for up to four years in some cases. The award is based upon character, scholarship record, industry and community service. Since 1994 the Walter and Cecil Borchert Scholarship Fund has been administered by the Skaneateles Endowment Fund. The Borchert Fund was set up to benefit the Fayetteville-Manlius School District and the Skaneateles School District. Both Districts will share equally the annual interest from this account to make scholarship awards. The funds may, again, be used for college fees, books, and tuition. THE CLARENCE M. AUSTIN SCHOLARSHIP in the amount of $300 each year for four years is awarded to a member of the graduating class on the basis of character, scholarship, financial need, leadership and service. The recipient must be in the top 20% of the class and must be enrolled in a two year or a four year course at an accredited college. Application Needed! THE ROBERT J. CHECCO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. This scholarship has been established by Mrs. Checco to be awarded to a student who meets the following criteria: 1) Lives within the outlying townships of the Skaneateles School District; 2) Will attend a two or four year college; 3) In the top third of the graduating class; 4) Has leadership abilities in extra-curricular activities. This scholarship is a $150 award.

THE CAYUGA COMMUNITY COLLEGE TRUSTEE SCHOLARSHIP. This $500 merit-based scholarship is awarded to a member of the senior class of Skaneateles Central School who meets the following criteria: 1) Have been accepted and intend to register at Cayuga Community College for the fall of the year graduating; 2) Have achieved a minimum average of 80, or the equivalent, in the core academic courses; 3) Be deemed to have contributed significantly to the life of the School and/or community. THE NORA E. AND LORETTA W. FEELEY MEMORIAL FUND. This fund was established to honor seniors who exhibited excellence in the subject areas of Math, Latin and English. Three $175 awards are to be awarded. ST. MARY S OF THE LAKE LANGUAGE AWARD. This award is for $200 and is presented in memory of Father McMahon to the student in the senior class who has shown outstanding ability in Latin. THE SONJA FINCH ALLYN SCHOLARSHIP. This award of $2500 is given to a graduating female student of good standing who has excelled in a foreign language.

II. ART AND MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS THE HENRY BRYANT SCHOLARSHIP. This award in the amount of (varies) is given to a member of the senior class, who is of good, moral character and who demonstrates the values, dedication and appreciation of music exemplified by the person for whom this award is named. The recipient shall have been involved in at least two extra-curricular activities during their four years in high school, a minimum of three years will have been served in band, orchestra, or chorus. THE DAVID O. CHASE SCHOLARSHIP. This four-year scholarship has been established by the friends and family of David O. Chase, founder of Chase Design Inc. and long time community member. As a child he spent summers in Skaneateles with his parents. His passion for Skaneateles and the surrounding area led him to establish his business, an industrial design consulting practice, here and to move his family to this community. David believed that the quality of the community was a direct result of the willingness of residents to contribute to its growth. The recipient must plan to pursue a career in design and art, demonstrate a commitment to excellence as a student and as a citizen, as well as, having demonstrated community service above and beyond required activities. THE MIGNON BOYD ALLYN SCHOLARSHIP. This award of $2500 will be given to a graduating female student of good standing who has displayed an interest and love of music and the arts.

THE SKANEATELES CENTRAL SCHOOL MUSIC BOOSTER SCHOLARSHIP in the amount of $500 is presented to a graduating senior who has been an active participant in the high school music program, and has been accepted into a college level program for either music education or music performance. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of a competitive audition. THE SKANEATELES SYMPHONY GUILD AWARD. The Skaneateles Symphony Guild, aware of the years of study, discipline and effort required to produce a musical artist, each year honors a senior student who has shown special interest and talent in the field of musical performance. Audition Required!

III. ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPS THE KERRI CARD SCHOLARSHIP was established by family and friends in memory of Kerri Card, a student in the Skaneateles School District. An award of (varies) is given to a hard working student who loves sports, is pursing a career in the helping professions, is enrolled in an accredited institution, and demonstrates financial needs. THE FRANK M. HYDON SCHOLARSHIP of $300 is awarded to the student in the graduating class who excels in scholarship, leadership and athletics. This annual scholarship is made available from the income of the Robert J. Hydon and Frank M. Hydon Memorial Fund. THE VERNON WHITEY WILSHERE MEMORIAL BASEBALL AWARD. This award consisting of $100 has been established by the Wilshere family to recognize and honor a Skaneateles senior who has excelled in baseball. Mr. Vernon Whitey Wilshere was a Skaneateles graduate who enjoyed a successful high school, college and professional baseball career until his retirement. This award commemorates his achievements. THE SKANEATELES HOCKEY BOOSTER CLUB SCHOLARSHIP. This scholarship is in the amount of $250 and is awarded for excellence and sportsmanship to a member of the Varsity Hockey Team. SKANEATELES SPLASH SCHOLARSHIP. This $250 scholarship is given to a senior girl from the Varsity High School Swim Team who is going to compete at the college level. Additionally, the recipient must show leadership, character, team spirit and a true love for the sport of swimming.

IV. BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIPS THE SOCIETY OF BUISNESS WOMEN OF SKANEATELES AWARD. This (amount varies) award has been established by the Society of Business Women of Skaneateles to recognize the senior girl who has demonstrated special effort, although perhaps unrecognized, in striving for success in her chosen field. It is offered as encouragement and further incentive as she continues her education. Application Needed!

V. COMMUNITY SERVICE/LEADERSHIP/CITIZENSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS THE MAX BREWER MEMORIAL PRIZE in the amount of $100 is awarded to the senior student who emulates the characteristics of good citizenship, honor, and dignity, which were typical of Max Brewer. THE SKANEATELES POLICE CHIEF-GEORGE E. DAVIS-MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: This scholarship award is giving given annually by the Skaneateles Police Department and the Davis family to the graduating senior girl or boy who is pursing a career in law enforcement, shows leadership, displays citizenship, is the son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter of a police officer. Application Needed! THE SKANEATELES PTC SUSAN CIABOTTI SCHOLARSHIP. This $1000 award is given to a graduate who has a commitment to volunteer work and shows academic promise in the student s chosen field of study at college. The scholarship fund is provided by the elementary, middle and high school Parent-Teacher committees; three volunteer organizations dedicated to assisting the schools in enhancing the quality of life for students. The award is offered in memory of Susan Ciabotti, a parent who gave her time, skills and energy to the PTC. Application Needed! THE SKANEATELES ROTARY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP. A $500 award will be presented to a senior who exhibits excellence in scholarship, community service and leadership. Application Needed! THE SKANEATELES CENTRAL SCHOOL, CLASS OF 1958 SCHOLARSHIP. A one year award will be given to a senior who attends a two or four year college, is involved in community activities, has contributed positively to the high school community and has maintained at least an 85% average. Application Needed!

THE SKANEATELES FIREMAN S AUXILIARY AWARD. This award will be given to a senior boy or girl in the Skaneateles Central School graduating class who is a child of a Skaneateles fireman or a member of the Skaneateles Fireman s Auxiliary. The applicant will be judged on the basis of: 1) character; 2) initiative; 3) future plans which will result in the greatest personal growth and potential for community service. THE LIONS CLUB SPECIAL EFFORT AND SERVICE AWARD. This award is given to a student who has shown special effort, perseverance, and overall growth scholastically. This is a $75 award with an engraved plaque. THE RICHARD WHALEN JR. MEMORIAL AWARD, a $100 savings bond was established to recognize a student who demonstrated such qualities as love of life, family and friends, strong personal values, academic effort, perseverance involvement in athletics and strong leadership skills. This scholarship is also honored with a plaque. THE NEW HOPE FIREMEN S AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP. The scholarship shall be awarded to two students upon entering any accredited institution of higher learning. The maximum one time award will amount to $500 ($250 per student). Selection is based on dedication to community service and excellence in education. Additionally, the student must have a parent that has present or past involvement with the New Hope Firemen s Department or Auxiliary. Application Needed! SKANEATELES SCHOOLS ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP. This award will be granted to a child or grandchild of an alumnus of the Skaneateles Schools. The applicant will be judged on character, citizenship and leadership.

SKANEATELES SONS OF THE AMERICAN LEGION, POST 239, MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. This award has been established to honor past and current veterans of the United States Armed Services. One award of $750 is given to a senior who plans on pursuing a career in government, history or political science. An essay of 250-500 words is required revolving around the 1 st Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. Application Needed! CARL H. FISHER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. This scholarship has been established by the family of Carl H. Fisher, a life-long resident of the village. His legacy of community service (mayor, trustee, volunteer fireman, SAVES, water treatment plan, recreation commission, etc.) helped make Skaneateles what it is today. The award of $1000 goes to a graduating senior who has demonstrated strong community service above and beyond required. Must be in good standing academically and morally, financial need and acceptance to a two or four year college is not required. DAVE PIRRO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. This award is two $500 scholarships to one male and one female graduate in good standing. The recipients must demonstrate a strong desire to continue his/her education at a trade school, two year or four year college. Recipients must also demonstrate strong financial need. Dave s success was measured though his character, zest for life and dedication to his family. This scholarship provides an opportunity for students who share Dave s values, ambitions and vision for success.

VI. ENVIRONMENTAL SCHOLARSHIPS THE SKANEATELES GARDEN CLUB SCHOLARSHIP in the amount of $200 is awarded to a senior that is accepted to a two year or four year school or trade school and is majoring in environmental studies, conservation, horticulture or agriculture. The recipient should be involved in extracurricular activities related to conservation, horticulture, or agriculture. Application Needed!

VII. FAMILY CONSUMER SCIENCE/AGRICULTURE RELATED SCHOLARSHIPS THE RICHARD C. HUTCHINS, JR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. This scholarship was established by the Richard Covington Hutchins family and the senior class of 1983. It is based upon senior class membership, plans to attend a two or four year college, be active in the Peer Sharing program and have a minimum average of 75%. This is a $1000 award. THE SKANEATELES GRANGE-GEORGE M. TALCOTT PRIZE of $200 is to be awarded to the student who has shown outstanding ability during the school year in home economics. THE WILLIAM E. THORNE PRIZE (amount varies) is awarded to a student who actively works on a farm from the senior class who has shown a high level of success in the four major subject areas. Funds for this scholarship are raised by the Skaneateles National Honor Society. THE SKANEATELES GARDEN CLUB. Awarded to a senior, in the amount of $200. Must be pursuing environmental studies, conservation, horticulture or agriculture. Additionally, must be an active member of Four- H, scouting activities or the Environmental Club. Application Needed! THE SKANEATELES PONY CLUB COMMEMORATIVE AWARD. The Skaneateles Pony Club Commemorative Award was established in 2002 to recognize a Skaneateles graduating youth who, in addition to being a successful student, has committed their time and energy to the care, sport, and education of the horse, and who exhibits the characteristics of enthusiasm, perseverance and team spirit that exemplify a successful pony clubber. VIII. HEALTH PROFESSIONS SCHOLARSHIPS THE LESLIE K. FELDMANN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. This $3000 scholarship has been established in memory of Leslie Feldmann, a 1982 Skaneateles graduate. Leslie was a woman of substance who had a passion for medicine dedicating her life to caring for critically injured or ill patients as both an intensive care nurse and medivac professional. She was also, a prize-winning photographer receiving a national award for her photograph of the village, which will be presented to each scholarship recipient. The scholarship winner must be pursuing a nursing degree or any other health care profession at an accredited college or university. They must also have demonstrated strong commitment and effort to their academic program. THE DR. ROBERT P. HORNE SCHOLARSHIP FUND has been established to provide financial support to graduates of Skaneateles Central School who have completed four years of undergraduate work or the equivalent and have been accepted at an accredited medical school. This is a $200.00 award. THE EDNA STRONG JAKES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. The Edna Strong Jakes Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $500 is to be awarded to a student how is entering a nursing or allied health profession and who has a strong academic standing, extracurricular involvement, as well as, a willingness to help others. THE LIONS CLUB NURSING AWARD. This award is given to a student who plans on a career in a nursing or related field. The amount of this award varies. THE HELEN ELECTRA LOVELESS MCNAMARA AWARD. This $250 award was established by the McNamara family to honor a senior who will be entering the field of nursing/medicine or veterinary medicine. This award will be paid to the college during the senior year of enrollment.

THE STEPHEN MASTERS AND ELAINE WITHEY MEMORIAL AWARD in the amount of $250 is awarded in memory of Stephen Master and Elaine Withey who graduated with the Class of 1972 from Skaneateles High School. The recipient of the award must be entering a two or four year program in a health profession and possess the following attributes; a good sense of humor, good sportsmanship, positive attitude and perseverance. CNY FERTILITY CENTER BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP. This scholarship has been established by Dr. Robert Kiltz, founder and director of the CNY Fertility Center. The purpose is to encourage graduating seniors to pursue their interest in the biological sciences and to pursue this passion as a career choice. The amount of the award will be $1250 per year for up to four consecutive years of college education. Application Needed!

IX. TEACHER/EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS THE SKANEATELES TEACHER S ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP. Awarding a total of (amount varies) in scholarship awards. The money for these awards comes from voluntary contributions from Skaneateles teachers with the belief that generous financial support given within will foster continued excellence for the future of teaching. The Skaneateles Teachers Association takes great pride in its awarding of these scholarships. The recipients are chosen on the basis of scholarship, accomplishment, and their stated commitment to a career in teaching. Application Needed!

X. TECHNOLOGY/ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIPS THE ROSCOE BILLS SCHOLARSHIP. This endowment fund scholarship at RIT was established through the generosity of Welch Allyn, Inc. As a memorial to Mr. Bills. Roscoe Bills was an alumnus of RIT s engineering program, Class of 1941. He had a distinguished career at Welch Allyn, starting as a tool maker and rising to plant manager, vice president and executive vice president. The scholarship is given to the children of Welch Allyn employees who select engineering or engineering technology as their field of study at RIT. THE LIONS CLUB BOARD OF COOPERATIVE EDUCATIONAL SERVICES AWARD. This award has been established by the Skaneateles Lions Club to be awarded to the senior boy or girl who has shown outstanding achievement while attending the Occupational Educational Program in Auburn. This award of $75 is with an engraved plaque. THE HOWARD L. ZELLINGER SCHOLARSHIP. This four year scholarship is given in memory of Howard L. Zellinger, a local engineer. The recipient must be attending an accredited college or university and intends to major in engineering. He or she must be a student of good moral character and demonstrated academic ability. THE JOHN B. THOMAS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR ARCHITECTURE. A one time $300 award will be given to a senior who will pursue a course of study in Architecture. Candidates must be accepted at an accredited Architecture program. Application Needed!
