3 rd Annual Stockholder s Banquet January 12, 2013 Stockholder s Portfolio
Dear Friends, Thank you so much for coming to be a part of our 3 rd Annual Stockholder s Banquet. I look forward to this night every year because of how God has used it to help increase the effectiveness of Resistance Youth Ministry. We are excited to have the opportunity to celebrate what God has done in the past year in Resistance Youth Ministry, but more than that to share what He has put on our heart for the days ahead. We have spent a lot of time in prayer for the coming year and are excited to see what God is going to do. Rachel and I are as committed as ever to be a part of what God is doing in the lives of teenagers in this church and community, and feel privileged to be able to be a part of their lives. We fully believe that teenagers are not only an indispensable piece of the Church of tomorrow, but also a valuable part of the Church today. When we invest into youth ministry, we invest into the health of the Church. Tonight we encourage you to enjoy yourselves as we share a meal and fellowship with one another. We pray that a passion for ministering to teens begins to take root in your lives and that you will seriously consider being a partner with us in this ministry. Pastor Jake and Rachel - Youth Pastors Dear Church Family: Kids are expensive! You would think that once they are out of diapers the cost would go down. not so much. Elementary age brings birthday parties, trips to the ER, and toys they just have to have. Junior high and high school means sports, vehicles (or not), fashionable clothing. etc. Then there is college how can one text book cost $140.00 (or more) anyway? Yet we would give anything for our kids to have the best chance at success in life that we could possibly give them. We will work extra jobs or hours, drive them around town like the professional taxi service that we are, and fight for them at the drop of a hat all because we love them. Students today are bombarded with things we never even thought about let alone have almost instant access to. Effective youth ministry takes money - pure, plain, and simple. Stockholders will enable the youth ministry to go above the operating budget which the church provides so they can take the youth ministry to the next level. You have a chance to get in on the ground floor of students being touched and changed by the gospel of Jesus Christ! I want to challenge you to seek the Lord and be a part of this great opportunity to affect our students and schools for the kingdom. Tammy and I are already on board and want to lead the way in supporting our youth. Join us and together let s see what God has in store for our youth ministry! Pastor Randy - Senior Pastor
Resistance Youth Ministry In Resistance Youth Ministry our goal is to help students discover and live out God s plan for their lives. Why do we call ourselves Resistance Youth Ministry? It is because students have a very important decision to make. They can either choose God s way for their life, or the world s way. Students are constantly faced with many distractions and pressures that lead them down a path away from God. We want to help them discover a better way. James 4:7 says, Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. We want to help students resist the ways of the devil and the world and embrace God s plan for their lives. 1. Vision Statement: a. Students discovering and living God s plan for their lives 2. Why is this important? a. Understanding God has a plan for me helps me to learn to trust in Him and helps to build my faith in Him. b. Understanding God s plan for me challenges me and gives me a compelling reason for continued discipleship and growth in my faith. c. Understanding God s plan for me encourages me to think outward and become a part of His mission in this world. d. Understanding God s plan for me helps me to use my God-given gifts and talents for His Kingdom. e. When I live out God s plan for me, God uses me to make a difference in the world around me. 3. How do we accomplish this? a. Connect i. Connecting students with God, who reveals His plan for our lives in His time (worship). ii. Connecting students with one another to encourage and challenge each other as they discover and live out God s plan for their lives (fellowship). b. Grow i. Helping students to grow and be equipped to live out God s plan for their lives (discipleship). ii. Challenging students to grow in and embrace God s plan for them to influence the lives of those around them toward Christ (evangelism). c. Serve i. Providing students opportunities to serve in ministry so they can discover, develop and use their God-given gifts (ministry).
2012 Stockholder s Report Total Stockholder s Income for 2012 $6695 The money that we receive through stockholders has opened up some great opportunities for Resistance Youth Ministry. Here are just some of the things we have been able to do throughout 2012 because of our generous stockholders. Speed the Light Last year at the Stockholder s Banquet we committed to giving 10% of what we received through Stockholder s to missions through Speed the Light. This year we were able to give $670 to Speed the Light through this 10% commitment and a total of $3326 through student giving and fundraisers in 2012. Sound Equipment Resistance Youth Ministry was able to help purchase a portable sound system that will be used for outreaches and other events around the community. Love Revolution This last year we were able to really invest a lot into our teen small groups because of Stockholder s. Through these groups students have grown in their faith and built relationships with one another that encourage them in their faith. Love Revolution is quickly becoming a key component of what we do in Resistance Youth Ministry. Staff Stockholder s has enabled us to invest into our youth staff and thank them for their willingness to serve in the youth ministry. Outreach Throughout the past year we have continued to try to find ways to reach unsaved students with the Gospel. Because of these efforts we have seen students commit their lives to Christ for the first time and get connected to the youth ministry. Monthly Fellowship We continue to use money from stockholders to provide events that help students to develop relationships with one another. These fellowship opportunities not only give our students a positive atmosphere to hang out with Christian friends, but also give us an opportunity to connect with new students.

Speed the Light $780 As a youth ministry we want to not only be active in trying to reach people in our community, but also around the world. We also want to make sure that we honor God with what we have been given. Therefore, we will give 10% of what we receive through stockholder s to Speed the Light. Volunteer Staff $2240 Our youth ministry has been greatly blessed with leaders who volunteer their time to minister to students. We want to be able to bless them for their investment and also invest in them so they can be more effective in this ministry. Outreach/Evangelism $1000 One of our goals from day one in this youth ministry has always been reaching students who don t know Christ. We try to do this in a variety of ways, and are working on getting some more outreach events planned for the year ahead. Ministry/Leadership Training for Students $550 One of our big focuses for the year ahead is to move our mentality from ministering to students to students in ministry. We believe that as students discover areas where God wants to use them (whether in the church or outside of it) their faith is stretched, strengthened, and they are challenged to grow. A key component for students understanding God s plan for their lives is finding a place where God can use them. We want to help students discover these areas and find the great joy that comes with knowing that God is using them. Identity $450 Over the past few years we have worked hard at providing an atmosphere for students where they can come and feel welcomed and loved. We have done this by creating a youth room that encourages students to connect with one another through playing games together. We want to continue to work on making sure that when students come to Resistance Youth Ministry, they are in an atmosphere where they feel welcomed and encouraged to connect with other students and with God. Student Connection $400 In ministering to students we have found that sometimes the most effective atmosphere for discipleship is meeting with students 1-on-1. We have had some great opportunities to help students with challenges they are facing, challenge them to grow in their faith, and pray for them simply by taking them to get a pop at McDonalds or a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Love Revolution $300 Our Love Revolution small groups have been a great place for students to connect with God and with each other. These groups have provided students a place where they can ask questions, talk with one another, and pray for each while being challenged by God s Word. Our Invitation to You
Tonight our purpose is to present to you a vision for what we believe God has called our youth ministry to do, and to invite you to become a part of making it happen. What is a Stockholder? Stockholders are people who become a vital part of our Church s youth ministry team through buying shares in the youth ministry at the cost of $10 a month for a year. Stockholders are also people who make a commitment to pray for our youth students and youth ministry leadership. Why should I become a Stockholder? As we have said many times tonight, we believe that God is going to move mightily in the teens of our community. As a stockholder, you become a part of what God is doing in their lives. You are not simply investing into a program or department, but into people that God loves and wants to do great things in. What are the benefits of being a Stockholder? Stockholders will receive quarterly reports from Pastor Jake and Rachel about what has been happening in the youth ministry and how God is working in the lives of our teens. This will provide you the benefit of seeing how your investment is being used to further the Kingdom of God among our teens. Thank You We want to say a huge thank you to all the students, staff and volunteers who helped make this banquet possible. We truly appreciate all the hard work that all of you put in. We look forward to working with all of you in the year ahead!
