pt Future Internet Service- Based Architecture According to FI-WARE Smart AgriMatics Conference 13 14 June 2012, Paris, France www.huawei.com Dr.-Ing. Egon Schulz European Research Centre Munich Huawei Technologies Duesseldorf GmbH
FI-PPP - what is it? The Future Internet PPP has been officially launched by the European Commission on 12.3. in Nice/France and the expected outcome is: develop a generic, open and secure communication and service platform standardized and providing cross sector services. The vision is to have a common (ICT) platform which can be used in different industry sectors (like energy, health, transport, etc). This will be part of the so-called Technology Foundation project different usage scenarios covering different industries which complement each other SMEs can use the developed platform and develop own solutions HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. FI-PPP - Goals Create European Technology Platform user driven, shorter time to market, social benefit ensure that it is open, allows collaboration between nation authorities and private interests Follows a holistic approach Is industry driven Include new players beyond ICT large consortia for each of the projects which provide not only individual results, but also the integration of the results => only IPs no STREPs large scale trials and demos = Capacity building and infrastructure support what can be used in order to build the testbed Europe can build on its wireless and applications strengths System perspective: Internet as a system integration of different technologies HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. FI-WARE Chapters Cloud Hosting Computation, storage and network resources, upon which services are provisioned and managed. Virtualization, distributed, and federated cloud. Applications/Service Delivery Framework The infrastructure to create, publish, manage and consume FI services across their life cycle, addressing all technical and business aspects. Data/Context Management (DCM) The facilities for effective accessing, processing, and analyzing massive streams of data, and semantically classifying them into valuable knowledge. IoT Enablement Interface to the world of sensors, actuators, and other heterogeneous, resource-constrained devices. Interface to the Network and Devices (I2ND) Communication in an IP driven operator infrastrucutre, connected devices interfacing, cloud edge, network information and control, context information, connectivity, Security Ensuring that the delivery and usage of services is trustworthy and meets security and privacy requirements. 101001111010101 010101111010001 001001111011... FI-WARE Generic Enablers Each architecture chapter in FI-WARE set of Generic Enablers (GEs) GE specifications are open. Generic Enabler (GE) set of components support a concrete set of functions APIs that are in compliance open specifications The FI-WARE deliver a reference implementation of FI-WARE GE Licensed with no costs within the FI-PPP program, Licensed under FRAND conditions elsewhere. The FI-WARE Testbed The FI-WARE Testbed will be a case example of a FI-WARE Instance. The testbed will allow Use Case projects and third parties to test Future Internet Applications based on FI-WARE Ges validating them. will be operated under central control Will be accessible from a dedicated website. FI-WARE partners will provide support to Use Case (UC) projects in deploying their conceptual prototypes on top of the FI-WARE testbed. Adapted from: J. Agile Approach FI-WARE First phase of the project has been focused on delivering a comprehensive FI-WARE Product Vision Communication with the Usage Area Projects in FI-PPP through requirement handling FI-WARE is using Agile methodology: Each GE has a Product Backlog including Themes, Epics, Features and User-stories The first Major Release is planned for July 2012 Minor Releases are planned after the first major release, every 3 months (e.g., Sept. 2012) New Major Releases every 12 months All info available on the public FI-WARE wiki: http://wiki.fi-ware.eu

Summary Many solutions for the verticals already exist but they are often expensive, not interoperable and of proprietary nature FI-WARE Core Platform offer possibilities for new services, inovative business models cost reduction increase of effectiveness Validation of GEs is done in usage area projects of FI-PPP Phase 1 Full capability and large scale testing in Phases 2 and 3 Page 18
