Procedure Saturate core sample with Formation brine Measure liquid Permeability in reverse direction Flood the Core Sample with Oil (or gas) till Swi Measure effective permeability to oil (or gas) in reverse direction Flow acid across the upstream end face of the core sample to wash the mud cake Flow mud across the upstream end face of the core sample to form a mud cake Flood the core sample with oil (or gas) in reverse direction again to remove all mud filtrates Measure effective permeability to oil (or gas) in reverse direction to obtain the permeability value after the core Flood the core sample with acid in forward direction Flood the core sample with oil (or gas) in reverse direction again to remove acid traces. Instrument The PMI Advanced Formation Damage & Well Treatment System is equipped with a humidifying system that is able to regulate and control the humidity of various gases. The dry gas is split into two streams. One stream will remain dry while the other stream will pass through a humidifier vessel to become humid. The two streams will then pass through flow controllers and join back up in one stream. This stream will have the humidity measured so that the software can control the dry-wet ratio to achieve the desired humidity. The sample cell is designed to hold rock cores with 1" and 1.5" diameters and 1" to 6" lengths. The whole instrument is designed to be corrosion resistant, withstand pressures up to 10000PSI, and temperatures up to 180º C.
