Giving an ExamView Test Online Create a Test using ExamView. If you would like your test to be graded for you then you may only use objective questions (Multiple Choice, True/False etc). Save that test to your Desktop by clicking on File then Save As Choose to save your test to your Desktop by clicking on the desktop icon (see picture below) and then name your test and click Save.
The next step is going to be up to the person who is in charge of your Computers in your school. You will need to check with that person to determine where they will allow you to house your test(s) for students to take online. For the sake of this demonstration, I will do everything from my Desktop. Open up the test you just created from your Desktop (see picture below). Next go to the main toolbar at the top of your test and click on File then Publish To and finally ExamView Test Player on LAN (see picture below).
The following screen will appear after you choose ExamView Test Player on LAN LAN stands for Local Area Network Leave the first bubble alone and limit access to students in a particular class. If you choose to allow access anyone the test will not be graded for you. Click on Next
Click on Save when the next screen appears and leave the box checked which will launch ExamView Test Manager after publishing the online test. Click on Desktop and then type in the name of the Test. In my case it is Test notice in the box below test it has ExamView Online Test (*.eot) This is the format we want to convert our ExamView test to so students can take it online. Finally click on Save (see picture below).
Automatically ExamView Test Manager will open up. You will see the screen below. I will use a Sample Class that has already been created. As a teacher you would want to start first by creating all of your classes and inputting your students into ExamView Test Manager.
Open up the class Sample Class in this example and then click Open (see picture below) After you click Open the following screen will appear. This is my Sample Class (see picture below). Notice, I have given a Quiz and a Practice Test and the students scores are there
My next step will be to create a new assignment or test for my students. Click on New Assignment (see picture below) Name the assignment and then choose to have the Online Test delivered over a LAN and click Next (see picture below)
Click once and highlight the file Test.eot in blue. Then choose whether you want your students to be able to Allow students to take the test multiple times or Allow students to complete test over multiple sessions. If you want your students to only to take the test one time and to log on and take the test all in one setting then leave these boxes unchecked. Then click Next (see picture below) You have to give your test a Password. In this case, I will use the following password. Select if you want the students to take the test anytime or at specific times and then click Next (see picture below)
Choose whether you want your students to have a set amount of time or unlimited time. Next choose if you want the questions to come up in the same order for all students or if you want to scramble questions for each student and then click on Next (see picture below) Choose if you want your students to be able to check their responses after they have answered the question as well as whether you want them to be able to see their results as soon as they finish their test. Then click Next (see picture below)
Click on Finish (see picture below) You will now see the test you created and assigned in the yellow box (see picture below)
You will see both versions of the tests wherever you saved your test. They are on my desktop in this example since that is where I saved them Open up the Orange version of the test Test.eot (see picture below) When you double click on this icon the following screen will appear
Students will enter their name and their ID and then click on Next. The ID is in the Class Roster next to each student s name (see picture below)
The test you assigned will appear in the screen. Click on the test one time to turn it blue and then click Next (see picture below) Type in the password that was created. Passwords are case specific so be sure students know exactly the password, whether it is all caps, all lower case etc. and then click Next (see picture below).
Click Start to begin taking the test (see picture below) Students can begin taking their test. The test will look like the picture below
Students select their answer by clicking on the answer they think is correct on the right side of their screen (see picture below) Down on the bottom left corner of the student s test they will see the following. They can click on Score after they have answered the question to see if they got it correct (providing that you as a teacher selected to allow students to be able to see how they did on individual questions (see picture below)
Down on the bottom right corner of the student s test they will see the following. They can click on the arrow to advance to the next question or the double arrow to go to the end of the test (see picture below). If you have turned on the ability to check whether their answers are correct students can click on Score and they will be told whether their answer is correct or not (see pictures below) When students have finished their test they click on End
If you have answered all of the questions the following screen will appear when you click End (see picture below) When student click Yes they will receive a copy of their test and whether they got the question correct or not (see picture below)
After students have finished their test the teacher can then import all of the student s tests into their ExamView Test Manager. Open up ExamView Test Manager and open up the class. Your screen will look like this (see picture below) To import the students test scores go to the main toolbar and click on the following (see pictures below)
The score was imported into your ExamView Test Manager Grade book. If all students had taken the test then all scores would have been imported.
