1 GUIDE FOR TEACHERS TABLE OF CONTENTS Accessing Reports and Printing Reports Customizing Reports Types of Reports To access reports in the Skyward Gradebook open the Gradebook Main Screen. 1. Click on the Report menu in the gray toolbar and a drop down menu appears. The reports available from this view are templates that may be cloned and customized or they may be used as is 2. Or double click on the Report menu in the gray toolbar and another screen appears. In this view reports may be customized by turning fields on and off to select content that will appear on the report. 3. Or to print a summarized, one page report for an individual student click on the student information link from the Home Page of the Gradebook. 2 USING THE REPORT DROP DOWN MENU There are several ways to access reports in Skyward Gradebook. Open the Gradebook Main Screen. Click on the Report menu in the gray toolbar and a drop down menu appears. The reports available from this view are templates that may be cloned and customized or they may be used as is. A popular report to run from the drop down menu is the Grade Sheet Report. PCSD Information Services Department Page 2

3 Use Templates 960, 970 or 980 to print a blank spread sheet containing the class roster. Click the <Print> button to print to the queue or the report may also be exported to Excel. The report below was generated from the 960 template which uses a size 10 font. To view a report, select it and click on <Print>. A print queue screen opens showing the progress of the print command. It reports waiting, running and completed. Once completed a display report option appears. Skyward prints to a PDF file from the queue rather than to a physical printer. If the report looks satisfactory, print the PDF file as you normally print, using the printer icon at the top of the document or the <File / Print > command. Reports are saved in the queue for 48 hours. Double click on a report saved in the queue to view. Customizing a report from the drop down menu: Notice an option to view the parameters of a report is available.( See first graphic on this page ). This view displays content that will be seen if the template is used as is. No changes can be made from this view but users can see what could be changed if the report was cloned and edited. If the template is one you want to use but you would like to make changes then select <Clone Template>. Name the template when prompted. The template will now appear in a window to allow editing. The same fields that were grayed-out when viewing the parameters may now be edited. Edited templates are saved and will appear in the list of templates for that report. 4 Double click on the Report Menu in the gray toolbar on the Main Screen of the Gradebook and a screen appears, rather than a drop down menu, that lists report templates. In this view reports may be customized by turning fields on and off to select content. The Enhanced Multi-class Progress report may be used to send home midterm grade reports. Elementary teachers can use this report to put all subjects on one report. Middle and High School teachers may not want to use the "print all classes" feature. Check with your school administrator about the policy on your campus before printing reports from other teachers gradebooks. If "print all classes" is selected, incomplete reports might be generated if other teachers have not entered all their grades. If a one page report is desired, try turning everything off except "display categories" totals and "percent earned" in the body of the report. Turn on a signature line in the footer portion of the report if desired. Select the classes to be included on the report (a button labeled "select classes" is located at the very top of the screen). Tip : If a lot of blank categories appear on the report go to "Categories", select "add/edit categories" and uncheck the categories that are not being used. 5 Print a summarized one page report for an individual student by clicking on the student information link from the Home Page of the Gradebook. Select a student and click on the link located at the bottom of the left column labeled Progress Report Letter. Check with your school administrator to determine midterm and report card protocols for your site. Report cards will be printed by the office and midterms may be printed by the office as well.
