Lowe s Community Service and Campus Improvement Grant Lowe s continues a sixth year of generosity with another round of SkillsUSA grants in 2015. Grant information and the application are now available on the SkillsUSA website at http://skillsusa.org/membershipresources/grants/lowes/. The guidelines and focus of the grant program is changed slightly from years past. The focus of the 2015 SkillsUSA Lowe s grant program will be Community Service and Campus Improvement projects. Grants will be awarded ranging from $2,500 to $25,000. Only one application per school will be accepted; 2014 Schools in Need grant winners are not eligible in 2015. Through the written application and letters of support, the applicant must clearly outline the proposed project, projected impact and outcomes, and provide a detailed budget and media plan. In addition, Lowe s is looking to engage SkillsUSA students and teachers with their local Lowe s staff. Developing a relationship between the SkillsUSA chapter or technical school and one or more local Lowe s stores is another key component of the grant selection process. Your best contacts at a Lowe s store are the store manager, the operations manager and the commercial sales specialist. There are some local Lowe s stores that may be unaware of this grant opportunity for schools. If, after several attempts, you continue to have trouble connecting with someone from Lowe s, don t hesitate to contact us at LowesGrants@skillsusa.org. Every effort will be made to assist your chapter or school in making this contact. The best proposed projects will detail the partnership with the local Lowe s as well as show how the outcome will provide a life changing experience for the SkillsUSA students involved and the beneficiaries of the grant dollars. Those applicants who can outline their project by planning and implementing a project or event that will allow them to use the tools or skills obtained due to receiving the grant dollars will stand a greater chance of receiving funding. Questions? Join a webinar! Go to: www.skillsusa.org/membershipresources/grants/lowes/lowes-webinars/ for more information. Still have questions? Please send an email to LowesGrants@skillsusa.org. The deadline for grant applications has been extended to December 15, at 11:59 p.m. EST. Late applications will not be accepted. Please review the grant guidelines to be sure that applications are properly completed and submitted.
