LSGMI REMOTE DESKTOP SERVICES. This Document is to describe the steps that you should follow in order to have a secured Remote Access to this Service. Requirements: Access to Remote Services is only supported from the following Microsoft Windows Desktop Platforms: Windows XP with Service Pack 3 and must have latest windows Updates. Windows Vista Service Pack2 and must have all Windows Updates. Windows 7 and must have all windows updates Internet Explorer 8 and windows updates. Antivirus Software must be updated everyday. Linux and Apple desktop software Platforms haven t been tested yet. You can connect to lsgmi remote desktop services from anywhere any time, using your home pc, your laptop or lsgmi s laptops. Do not use a public computer or lend a computer that you are not familiar with to avoid introduce viruses and threats to Lsgmi Network. it is all about: My Pc s Internet Explorer Browser Configuration. So here are the steps Remote users must do to configure their home Pc or Laptop for fist time access to Lsgmi Remote Desktop Services. Step 1. Connecting to Lsgmi Remote Desktop Services Open Internet Internet explore and type https://rds.lsgmi.org/rdweb On this screen you will see a pop Warning yellow banner requesting permission to install Terminal Services ActiveX client Internet explorer browser Add- On. Right click on Yellow Banner and click on option Add-on on all websites. See next screen shot.
On install pop up window click RUN Once it is installed, you will see another pop up warning at the bottom of the browser status bar saying:
Add-on disabled, To enable the Add-on click here, so click on the Red Prohibited circle, or click on browser menu Tools, then click on Manage Add-ons and you will get the following screen
Highlight each Microsoft terminal services client add-on with status disabled and click on - ENABLE BOTTOM - for each of then. This process will activate the add-on that will let you connect to Lsgmi Remote Desktop Services. Step 3. Close internet browser for changes to be applied. Then Open internet Browser and type again: https://rds.lsgmi.org/rdweb Then proceed to login as shown on the next screen and type your everyday desktop pc login user id and password.
Type your login id and password, then hit enter. If you can t login, revise your login id from typos, always use the format lsgmi\loginid, make sure caps lock is not enabled, make sure you type your password upper case and lower case letters and numbers, passwords are case sensitive. Click on Private computer for your laptop or home computer. If you can not login, wait 15 minutes until the system unlock your account and try again. Once you are authenticated in the Remote Desktop Web server, you will get the REMOTE APPS PROGRAMS webpage with the list of applications your are allow to run. SEE NEXT SCREEN.
MAKE SURE YOU ONLY CLICK ONCE ON THE APPLICATION ICON THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO RUN. Click on any application icon once, and you will get another screen that requires a login. SEE NEXT SCREEN TO DISABLE A CONNECTION NOTIFICATION..
Click and check don t ask me again to disable this pop up screen, then click on CONNECT On next screen. Enter login id and password using the format lsgmi\login-id, same as the one you use on previous login. This is a one time required login every time you connect to Lsgmi Remote Desktop services and run the first application(whichever you choose to run), after this step is validated and completed, you will not be asked to enter your login again SEE NEXT SCREEN FOR LOGIN INTO THE GATEWAY.
This is the last login and from now on you can run as many apps you want and the system will not ask you to login again. When you open any application and click on open file, the application s windows file and folder browser will open, to see your network drives click on my computer, then you can open the network drive and see your files. Remote desktop services will print to your local printer, to accomplish this process, your remote desktop connection will download the file to your pc s local printer queue to print it out.. Remote Desktop Services uses a generic Microsoft printer driver and supposedly support most of the printers.
