Installation Procedure For 40mm Swept T Enclosure (Blown Fibre Cables) Description Component Parts & Specialist Tools This procedure is for the installation of the 40mm Swept T enclosure when used in conjunction with the following Blown Fibre Tube Cables: 24 & 19 tube DB 24 & 19 tube DI & 12 tube DB 12 tube DI & 7 tube DB 3 x DB1 (customer drop) 1 x DB2 (customer drop) This procedure can be followed for Day 1 or Retro Build. When using longitudinal & circumferential cutters it is advisable to practice on a dummy section of cable to ensure that the operation of the cutters does not damage the tubes. During the installation procedure all local Health & Safety statutory regulations must be adhered to. Installation Procedure Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Identify the required position of the enclosure and mark the cable sheath. Mark the cable sheath 70mm either side of the initial sheath mark. Circumferentially cut the cable sheath at both these marks. Ensure that the depth of cut does not damage any tubes. Step 4 Step 5 Step 6 Using the Longitudinal Cable Cutter apply one cut either side of the cable sheath/sub-duct. Care should be taken to ensure that the tubes are not damaged. Remove the cable sheath. For DB cables mark the cable sheath 15mm in from the circumferential cut. Page 4 of 7
Step 7 Step 8 Step 9 Circumferentially cut the cable sheath at both these marks. Ensure that the depth of cut does not damage any tubes. Using the Longitudinal Cable Cutter apply one cut either side of the cable sheath/sub-duct. Care should be taken to ensure that the tubes are not damaged. Remove the cable sheath. Step 10 Step 11 Step 12 Assemble the locking nuts around the cable. Select the correct set of grab rings. Apply the grab rings to the cable. Step 13 Step 14 Step 15 Identify the tube to be used for the customer feed. Using the tube cutter cut the tube at a point 70mm from the cable butt. Apply a tube end stop to the tube end. Page 5 of 7
Step 16 Step 17 Step 18 Apply a tube connector to the tube. Cut the cable and remove 60mm of cable sheath. Cut the tube 30mm from the cable butt. Step 19 Step 20 Step 21 If a port reducer is to be used then slide the customer feed cable through the reducer. Fit the tube into the tube connector. When using a manifold apply plugs to be slots that are not being used. Step 22 Step 23 Step 24 Clip the cable into the manifold. Position the grab ring as indicated. Position the bottom half of the enclosure around the cable. Carefully close the enclosure around the cable. Ensure that the tubes are not trapped between the two halves of the enclosure. Page 6 of 7
