You will manage events, and where appropriate act as project lead. Projects involving VIPs and other forms of public relations engagement will require you to maximise media coverage including social media. The role The Media and Communications Manager will create and implement media plans which result in a measurable rise in the profile, reputation and positive coverage of the department and its activities with national and international business and film industry press and media. With the support from the team, you will manage and implement campaigns to engage various stakeholders and support. You will manage events, and where appropriate act as
project lead. Projects involving experiential activity, VIPs and other forms of public relations engagement will require you to maximise media coverage including social media. You will need to forge and maintain excellent working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Your excellent communication skills are essential, as is your experience of delivering and implementing campaigns with tangible outcomes. Key to this role will be your experience delivering impactful events and working in or with the media, the entertainment industry, politicians or with VIPs and their agents. This is an exciting, challenging post and one that is critical to the successful positioning of The London Film School amongst its target audiences. Responsibilities Connect with influential media outlets and journalists to place stories about LFS news and other initiatives. Serve as an exemplary writer, consistent with our company s tone and mission. You write clean, concise, well-polished copy. Create content regularly to grow the company s footprint (press releases, corporate announcements, and creative content like SlideShare). Collaborate with prominent members of the company, including executives, to craft and pitch press releases and thought leadership columns. Establish a sustainable, strategic approach to PR at the company based on adding value to media outlets and event managers, not just asking for it. Determine sources for content creation, both internally and externally. Assist with event planning, including working with the wider team for on-site collateral. PR Identify press opportunities Develop and manage press communications and campaigns that support LFS s communications and marketing objectives.
Proactively support the development of ideas and create powerful material that effectively communicates the story, value proposition and key messages to targeted audiences. Prepare proactive and reactive media content in coordination with the team Maintain and apply rigorous media communications guidelines and protocols with staff and leadership to enhance reputation. Ensure that news, insight, intelligence, staff or student work is appropriately featured in relevant outlets. Monitor and alert management to forthcoming media stories or trends with risks to reputation and advise on managing media handling Establish clear performance metrics and report on performance against objectives on a monthly and as needed basis Develop, implement and manage a spokesperson and crisis handling strategy and media training programme for staff. Develop and maintain effective relationships with key journalists in national regional and trade press in the UK and overseas. Develop corporate messages, disseminate proactively and measure responses Marketing Support the delivery of a corporate communications implementation plan, highlighting future opportunities for brand enhancement Support marketing campaigns in partnership with internal and external teams, assist with relevant coordination in line with the Business Plan Act as the custodian of the brand Social Media Managing with the team all social media accounts Work with staff and seek out partners to support campaigns and initiatives Develop with the team and the organisation best practice approaches to customer service
About you Requirements BA/BS degree or equivalent working experience. Experience in public relations, content marketing, or relationship management. Press Portfolio Strong English, editorial, and creative writing skills Excellent research, proofreading skills Competitor monitoring Collaborate with team for campaign ideas and creative growth strategies Analysing of performance metrics and optimising campaign performance Understanding of Digital Marketing Ideally knowledge of SEO, content writing for web or social The ability to work and thrive in a rapidly changing work environment. Bonus points for knowledge of SEO best practices, keyword discovery and utilisation, content and page development, metatags, page titles, URLs, linking strategy, landing pages, site indexing for SEO to drive and increase relevant traffic to online destinations and increase online conversion and brand awareness Ideal candidate will have experience pitching, crafting, and placing content externally through guest blogging or op-ed development and experience with event management and sponsorships. Person Specification Strong project management and organisational skills Proven and visible press activity, ideally with experience creating content for the web across several disciplines (text, design, video, etc.) and media (blogging, guides, whitepapers, research, infographics, podcasts, etc.). Driven by creative intuition but able to gut check and course-correct with data, as well as report results and optimise using data. Leadership support: experienced providing excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to senior influencers. Ability to exercise judgment, identifying and managing risk and making informed, pragmatic and timely decision within a pressurised environment
