BUILDING A CLASSROOM Classrooms should include each subject area taught. Subpages can be added according to Chapters, topics, etc. 1. From the homepage, click ADD NEW CLASSROOM. 2. Enter Classroom Title and click SAVE CLASSROOM. 3. The new class will appear somewhere below the Display Name under Classrooms. Classrooms can be reordered by clicking and dragging the button in front of the classroom title to the desired location. Now click on the class title (EX: MATH 4).
4. There are 7 parts to the class page: the blog, the image and the class description, the calendar, class announcements, class assignments, class files/links, and a classroom image gallery. The image and class description is the same as on the homepage (see Creating a Webpage from Scratch tutorial). The Blog has its own tutorial (see Creating a Blog on CMS tutorial under the "Creating a Webpage" class page. The Calendar will soon have its own tutorial (coming soon). 5. Class Announcements - Click ADD ANNOUNCMENT.
6. Provide the Announcement with a Display Title and type the message in the textbox. You may also insert an optional image (by clicking BROWSE, locate the picture, OK). Click SAVE ANNOUNCEMENT when done. 7. The announcement will appear under Class Announcements. You may click EDIT to make corrections or DELETE to eliminate the announcement. 8. Class Assignments - Click ADD ASSIGNMENT.
9. Provide Assignment Name, Assign On and Due Date (click on calendar for dates), and a description of the assignment including directions. There is a box at the bottom--check if you allow students to submit assignments online (since the Blog will handle this, no check is needed). Assignment Name and Due Date is required. If all information is correct, click SAVE ASSIGNMENT. 10. The assignment will appear under Class Assignments. Use EDIT to make corrections and DELETE to eliminate the assignment. Only current assignments appear. To look for back assignments, click VIEW ALL ASSIGNMENTS.
11. Viewing Assignments in Drop Box, Click VIEW ALL ASSIGNMENTS under Class Assignments. 12. Click on VIEW SUBMITTED ASSIGNMENTS for that particular assignment. 13. Uploaded assignments will appear. To View, click on the assignment. The Word document will appear.
14. Choose between Open, Save, or Save As. To view, select open. 15. Students submitting assignments online, click SUBMIT ASSIGNMENT under Class Assignments from the Class Page (EX: Math 4).
16. Input First Name, Last Name, and click BROWSE to find the assignment in a Word Document. 17. Click on the Assignment Word Document (will appear under Uploaded Assignment) and click UPLOAD ASSIGNMENT. A message will appear on the screen that the assignment has been successfully uploaded. 18. Class Files/Links - include documents, tests, handouts, PowerPoints, and website links as well as Folders to keep it organized. To add a folder, click ADD FOLDER.
19. The Add/Edit File Folder box will appear. Name the folder and click SAVE FOLDER. If you want to create this in advance and don't want it to show yet on the website, check the box in front of Hide Folder. 20. A message "Folder Added Successfully" will appear as well as the folder itself. Now click ADD LINK. 21. Click on the blank tab to get to a new window, find the website you want to link, highlight the URL and right click on the highlight and select COPY. Return to the first tab (SchoolPointe Administration).
22. Click ADD LINK under Class Files/Links. 23. In the Add/Edit Class Link box, Select folder (EX: INTERACTIVE GAMES) is optional (make folder before adding the link). Enter the Display Title of the link, then paste the link into the Web Site Address (highlight the http://www, then right click on it, and select PASTE). Check the Open in New Window to provide the capability of navigating between your website and the linked site. Write a brief description of the link (include directions) and click SAVE LINK. 24. The link will appear under Class Files/Links (in Folder if included--double click on folder).
25. Adding Documents (Word, PowerPoint, PDF) - Click ADD FILE/DOWNLOAD 26. Select folder (optional--i made a PowerPoints Folder previously), type in Display Title, click BROWSE to find file, click OK, click in "open in New Window", type of brief description, and click SAVE FILE. 27. Click on the Folder (if placed in one) to verify that file appears.
