Smart Tracker Application allows the user to apply alerts, check reports & much more from his PC, laptop or mobile phone 2. Do I need any special hardware or software to access the tracking data? No special hardware is needed to access the tracking data. You only need an internet enabled PC, to logon to the SmartCar web-site using your unique username and password. 3. How do the tracking units transmit data? The tracking units transmit data over the GPRS network provided by Tata Docomo Network 4. Can my car be tracked anywhere in India? Yes. SmartCar solution works over the GPRS network, and your car can be tracked all over India using the wide spread GSM/GPRS network coverage of Tata Docomo 5. What happens if my car moves to an area with no GSM/GPRS coverage? The SmartCar intelligent vehicle tracking unit will store data in it's internal memory, and once the vehicle moves to an area with GSM/GPRS coverage, then the stored data will automatically be transmitted to the SmartCar application server Simultaneously it will alert you through an SMS that your vehicle has stopped sending data along with the time 6. Will it notify me, if my car moves back into network coverage area? Yes it will notify through an SMS alert 7. Does GPS work under covered areas (e.g., tunnels, parking garages)? No. GPS utilizes satellites for accurate tracking. If the sky is inaccessible to the mobile unit, tracking cannot take place.
8. Will bad weather affect GPS? This is highly unlikely. The sky must be blocked by an object for GPS to be affected. 9. What are various features for SmartCar? The Smart tracking allows you to mark areas on the website map. If you have set alerts for your marked location, you will get an alert when your vehicle enters or leaves the marked area. 11. What is Geo-Lock? The Smart tracking allows you to lock your car to a particular location during the vehicle being stationary. If you have set alerts for your geo-lock location, you will get an alert when your vehicle moves from the geo-locked area. 12. What is the Route Replay option? It is an option to replay the route which your car has taken on defined date & time on map, along with information on speed & time along the route.
13. How do I track my car? How often is the information updated? When you log into the smart tracking portal, you will see the current position of your car marked on a map. The live tracking page auto refreshes with information of the car as it moves along. 14. Can I track my car instantly without logging in into my SmartCar account? 18. Will there be a delay in receiving of alerts? Alerts are generated immediately as soon as Car crosses or deviates from the defined parameter, however there will only be a lag depending on telecom network (Tata or others) 19. How many mobile numbers can I configure for alerts? One can configure two mobile numbers for receiving alerts & notifications 20. Can I smart track my car using my mobile phone? Yes, you can access the smart tracking portal by browsing the WAP link sent to your mobile via SMS. Soon you will have option of downloading a mobile phone application from our portal; we will update you on the same 21. What road support will I get on car breakdown? We are providing a free of cost VAS service which will comprise of Point of Interest (POI) location identification, this will enable you to generate & locate your defined POI on map The smart tracking application will have POIs for 1. Can I access the Smartcar application on my mobile with telecom services other than Tata Docomo? 23. What login information can I edit? Only password can be changed at any time 24. How can I change my password? To change your password, log in. Click "Change password" under Settings tab, make desired changes and click "submit" You will receive an e-mail & SMS alert for the same 25. What characters may I use in my password? You may use alphanumeric characters and the following special characters: * @ - _. /. Remember that passwords are case sensitive (eg. 1qWeR5, not 1qwer5, or 1QWER5) 26. How long should my password be? Your password can be 4 to 17 characters in length. 27. What if I forget my password? If you forget your login ID, check your old emails.
