Message European Athletics President MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF INOWROCŁAW Every year, apart from during the European Athletics Championships-Olympic year, over 150 athletes take part in the European Cup Combined Events, the biggest annual combined events competition in the world. This year the First and Second Leagues take place in Inowroclaw, Poland, from 4-5 July 2015 while the Super League will be held simultaneously in Aubagne, France. The European Cup Combined Events started a new format in 2013, resulting in the merger of the men and women teams into a single team representing each country. Last year it was the Czech Republic, led by Adam Helcelet, and Eliska Klucinova that took victory in the First League. The Ukraine finished in second place and was also promoted to the Super League. This competition is important for the development of decathlon and heptathlon within Europe. Each year a mixture of the world s best and young up-and-coming athletes compete for their countries in one of the few combined events competitions for national teams. Some of the biggest and brightest names in combined events have competed in this competition. In 2004, Olympic gold and silver medallists Carolina Klüft of Sweden and Austra Skujyte of Lithuania battled it out in the heptathlon in the First League. European Athletics would like to thank the local authorities in Inowroclaw and the Polish Athletics Federation for its continued dedication to athletics and hard work in the preparation of the 1st and 2nd Leagues. We wish the best of luck to all the competitors and teams and an enjoyable stay to everyone involved in what promises to be another great event. Ladies and Gentlemen, City Inowrocław, Sports and Recreation Centre, and the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Athletics Federation are organizing the European Cup in Athletics (I and II League). The athletes will compete representing the best athletics clubs across Europe. Leading European teams will come to our city. Nearly 150 athletes from countries such as Spain, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Turkey, Iceland, Italy, Portugal and Switzerland will take partin the competition. I am very pleased to host the best athletes, all the fans, supporters and activists. On the Municipal Stadium of Olympians of city Inowrocław are held the highest rank competition, which are for the participants the chance to win great sports performance and break the life records in their own disciplines. I also encourage you to visit one of the most beautiful parts of Inowrocław which is undoubtedly the Spa Park, called the Brine Park, and take advantage of the newly created places, which improved attractive conditions for rest in Inowrocławiu such as Terme of Inowrocław and the Pump Room - Palm House. While visiting our city do not miss the graduation towers, located in the aforementioned brines, which were among 16 unique sites nominated for a plebiscite on,, 7 new wonders of Poland - organized by the magazine National Geographic Traveller. For all players of the European Cup in Athletics I wish the best sport performance and unforgettable memories of your stay in Inowrocławiu and Western Kuyavain region. I also sincerely hope that enchanted by this corner of Poland you decide to come back in the future, either for sports or tourism.
