REVELATION ONLINE SUMMER SCHOOL We are an online High School, using multimedia based interactive courses which offer a new experience compared to a traditional classroom setting. Our Learning Management System (Desire2Learn) provides you with the total educational experience using a wide range of online tools. The Online approach offers flexibility with web based access anytime anywhere! Each course has a dedicated instructor to answer all your questions and help in your success. Our goal is to provide courses that enhance the program of studies to ensure students have a positive transition to the next level of their studies. We currently offer Religion, CALM, Science 10, Science 14, Science 24 online for the summer. The Centre is located within the Clareview Recreation Centre and easily accessible via the LRT northeast line. WHO SHOULD ATTEND ASCENSION AT CARDINAL COLLNS HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIC CENTRE? Cardinal Collins completion program is designed for students who are in their 4th or 5th year of high school. Students may need to upgrade a course grade or take a course for the first time. Our students can also complete any Alberta High School Diploma requirements that they are missing to graduate. Our students have full access to academic counselling. Our primary goal is to help you on your post-secondary or career path. A Cardinal Collins student: Has attended a regular high school for three years Is 19 years of age or under on September 1st of the school year you are planning to attend Is focused and motivated to meet their post-secondary and career goals Is working on the course for the first time or repeating course work WHAT DOES THE ASCENSION PROGRAM LOOK LIKE AT CARDINAL COLLINS? Cardinal Collins timetables all core subject courses around the November, January, April and June diploma writes. In an intensive 8 week quarter program, students are able to complete the Program of Studies in the course they are registered in enabling a mid-semester diploma write. This works great for students who want to attend post-secondary second semester. Classes are also set up for students who wish to take the entire semester to finish a course. REVELATION ONLINE Revelation offers a unique approach to online learning in that students can participate in a virtual classroom where they, their fellow students and their teachers collaborate during the scheduled delivery of their courses. As well, students can select an independent, method of course delivery. The program offers students an opportunity to take one or two courses or to enroll as a full time student. Revelation Online offers a full high school program. Recent curriculum development activity has added more courses, especially in the nonacademic area. Students can register in Work Experience 15, 25 and 35. Fresh Start Academic Centres are student-centered programs for high school students (Grades 10-12) who are not attending a traditional high school. Work experience courses earn credits that provide experiential learning activities in coordination with our off-site campus education coordinator. Work experience courses also provide opportunities for the student to access resources in their community to further their personal development, career planning and employability stills through their placements in off-campus work locations. Students may earn up to 30 credits in work experience using 15 of those toward their high school diploma. GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION Summer School, P.A.S.S. & Diploma Preps Prerequisites All Programs Alberta Education regulations regarding prerequisite courses apply to summer school. These regulations specify that a student must have a pass standing (ie. 50% or higher) in the prerequisite course in order to continue with the series. If you register for a course without prerequisite standing, you will be withdrawn from the course without a refund of Program & Material Fees. SUMMER SCHOOL ATTENDANCE Classroom-Based Attendance Full attendance is crucial. Students will not be allowed to start at a later date, end early or write final exams early to accommodate holiday plans. Students cannot miss more than two instructional days for a 5 credit course or one instructional day for a 3 credit course. If this occurs, students will be automatically withdrawn from their course. Self-Paced Attendance Attendance must be regular and consistent in order to complete the course. Students must attend the first 5 days of July 2-8 in order to finalize registration. If 50% of the course is completed, this requirement can be waived by the lead teacher. Please do not plan on taking holidays or on working full-time during summer school. Students are expected to hand in work on a regularly scheduled basis. Withdrawals PASS program withdrawals must be made in person at the PASS location the student is registered with. All Program & Material fees are Non-Refundable after registration. Only the $100.00 Textbook will be refunded upon the return of textbook/material in satisfactory condition. Summer School withdrawals prior to June 29 must be made by phone at 780 944-2000. Summer School withdrawals after 3 pm on June 29 must be made at the summer school location the student is registered with. All Program & Material fees are Non-Refundable after registration. Course Change/Transfer Fees All Programs There is an additional $20.00 processing fee per course for changing or transferring a course. This fee is charged each time a change or transfer is requested and takes place. Refunds All Programs School of Alternative Education reserves the right to cancel any class where the minimum enrollment is not met. A full refund will be issued for any course cancelled by School of Alternative Education. All Program & Material fees are Non-Refundable after registration or upon withdrawal. Only the $100.00 Textbook will be refunded upon the return of textbook/material in satisfactory condition. Inappropriate behavior or damage to school property will result in the immediate dismissal of the student. Refunds will not be issued. Diploma Exams All Programs Students who are writing a diploma for the first time will be registered for their diploma exam through their Summer School or PASS site. Students who are re-writing* or are registering late for a diploma exam must register for a mypass account with Alberta Education. mypass is a secure-self-service website for students to access information about their education.
