Adams Elementary School 3420 North 78 th Street Omaha, NE 68134 PTA Newsletter April 4, 2014 PTA Meeting Happenings Our final meeting was held on Tuesday, April 1st with 16 people in attendance. Topics included Art & Music Festival, Yearbook, Skate Daze Party, Teacher Thank You Lunch, Sixth Grade Recognition and next year's officers and committee chairs. Mr. Kelln spoke on state required testing taking place this month and renovations this summer to the school building. Mrs. Pederson was gracious enough to take kids to her room during the meeting since I had forgot to schedule child care. PTA Scholarship winners will be announced during the Art & Music Festival on April 22nd. Art & Music Festival The PTA will present scholarship winners at the start of the Art & Music Festival. Next year's officers will also be announced and any chairpersons who have signed up. There will be concessions available of hot dogs, chips, water and cookies so that you can stay as a family and enjoy the evening without needing to rush home to have supper. Yearbooks This year the school yearbooks are being published by an Omaha company which has been printing school yearbooks for over 25 years. We will have more control over the final product and can better specify the delivery date. Forms will be going home soon for ordering yearbooks and submitting the "Notes From Home" messages. Did you take any pictures during school parties, sports, after school activities, Fall Festival, Holiday Program or anytime during the school year? If you have any you would like to share, please email to Michele Kennedy at dakennedys@aol.com. Photos will be used as space permits. Spring Skate Daze Party Friday, May 9th will be the spring Skate Daze party. The time will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and since they are open late on Friday nights, you may stay after 8 for a small fee and continue to skate or use the Playdazium. Once again there will be a prize for the classroom with the highest attendance. Please contact Jessica Melancon at 402-714-3761 if you would be able to help ask and chart the number of students and family members as they come in the building.

Field Day Field Day will be held on May 20th this year and the PTA will be providing shirts for all the students free of charge. A form has been sent home requesting the size shirt needed for each student. If you have misplaced the form, please write out your child's first and last name, shirt size and teacher's name on a sheet of paper and have them give it to their teacher. Shirts will be given out the day of the event. There will be a BBQ lunch for students and family members to enjoy together. The PTA will also provide a treat for all students once the games have concluded. We are requesting volunteers from area high schools to help but any help from parents either with the lunch or monitoring game stations will be appreciated. Sixth Grade Recognition May 23rd is the last day of school and also Sixth Grade Recognition for our graduating students. The PTA will be providing refreshments and decorations for this event. 2014-2015 PTA It's that time of year again to elect new officers and committee chairs for the PTA. Our volunteers do a wonderful job helping out every year to benefit out students, their families and our school staff. Please consider offering your talents and time to continue this fantastic benefit of Adams Elementary for our kids. Forms are available in the office and attached to the newsletter. New Carpeting For The School Adams Elementary has been fortunate to not only be scheduled for renovation for renovation of the library this summer but the entire school will be re-carpeted this summer. The down side of this is that everything needs to be packed up and moved to the gym before this can take place. Wednesday, May 28th is packing and moving day. Adults and high school age students can volunteer to assist teachers and staff in packing, labeling and moving supplies, books and furniture. Coming Soon Art & Music Festival, Tuesday, April 22nd, 6:30 p.m. Administrative Professional Day, Wednesday, April 23rd Teacher "Thank You" Lunch, Tuesday, May 6th Skate Daze, Friday, May 9th, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Field Day, Tuesday, May 20th Sixth Grade Celebration, Friday, May 23rd
