July 2015 THE OFFICIAL Newsletter OF TAMPA PALMS NORTH We are happy to announce that we had a great End of School party on Friday, June 12 th. We had pool noodles, beach balls and bubble machines along with the American Weiner food truck and Cold Stone Creamery. They were a big hit and will most certainly be invited back again.

This is the time when all of the varieties of palms should have already produced their blossoms that can be pruned away with the dead fronds. The vending machines have been installed by the rear entry of the Club for member usage. We have a nice selection of drinks and snacks available. You have the choice to use cash or a debit/credit card. TAMPA PALMS NORTH IKarePublishing.com 3

Ashington Reserve Happy Fourth of July! We hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday. Not much to report in neighborhood news this month and that is probably a good thing. The Board is soliciting estimates to repaint our fence and gates at the entryway and to do some minor brick repair but that is about all for near term maintenance projects. For the longer term, the Board is looking at projects that should be included in the 2016 budget. One of those projects will be to once again repair unsafe areas in our sidewalks. Tree roots continue to push up some of the concrete slabs which creates a tripping hazard. To keep the overall cost down, we will repair slabs by grinding down uneven areas where we can, and only replace slabs when necessary. As always, all homeowners are welcome to attend the Ashington Reserve Board meetings. Our next meeting will be held on 9 July at 6:30 pm in the Tampa Palms North Clubhouse. Lancaster Our legal council, after doing some diligent detective work, determined that we, Lancaster, did not own Remington's streets after all. The Remington Streets we thought we owned have been deeded back to the city of Tampa. So many thanks to our attorney for his efforts and for turning a negative into a positive. Todd Parker and Lisa Crawford have been working tirelessly to replace the dead palm tree in the roundabout. They are examining a new tree as I write and our landscape contractor believes he has found a drainage solution so the new tree will not be killed by root rot. Todd, using his superb negotiating skills, has bargained the price of the tree down approximately 45% from its original asking price. Todd and Lisa will be bringing photos of the tree to the next board meeting for neighborhood approval. So many thanks Todd and Lisa for your hard work. Thanks too to Terry Bachman for circulating an application for police surveillance of your home if you go on vacation. Bad actors are always on the lookout for vacant houses and if that weren't enough there is a band of gypsies working the 'hood and they are brazen. They will walk right into your house if your door is not locked. So keep your house secure when you are at home or when you are away. Since taking over the literary sector of the board, twelve homes, or roughly 15% of the neighborhood, have come on the market. At the risk of sounding arrogant, I had difficulty believing that my writing could actually be so bad that it would drive folks out of town. So I took a tour of the neighborhood yesterday and found that, by and large, everyone's home is looking good and well maintained. For a 10 year old converted swamp, we're in good shape. Mayfair Now that 2015 is almost half over, we thought it would be helpful to publish some of the basic homeowner information that we deal with each and every day here in Mayfair. Your Garbage (gray container) Collection days are MONDAY & THURSDAY. Your recycling (blue container) Collection day is MONDAY. Your yard waste (place on curb) Collection day is THURSDAY Please note: your gray and blue containers and yard waste cannot be placed on the curb no earlier than the evening before your scheduled pickup and must be removed at the end of each collection day. Lawn and Garden Watering Days; Lawn irrigation is not permitted between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Micro irrigation and other low volume irrigation on garden areas my be done any day at any time. Windsor Work on the call box began in June. Not only was it being moved, it was being enhanced with cameras to enable the viewing of vehicles entering and leaving Windsor. The Board approved pressure washing of common sidewalks and swales. This would be a good time for homeowners to power wash their driveways and sidewalks so all will be clean. The Board also approved trimming of the oak trees in common areas up to 15 feet so garbage and emergency vehicles can get through the neighborhood more easily. The Board will continue to enforce rules for basic upkeep including grass cutting; palm tree trimming; power washing of roof, driveways and sidewalks; repair of mailboxes; and landscaping. As we celebrate a wonderful Fourth of July weekend, your Windsor Board is asking all residents to refrain from using aerial fireworks within our neighborhood. In addition to personal safety concerns, the danger to residents should a fire start in any of the adjacent conservation areas is real, as is the danger of igniting a roof or lanai cage. Please remember that the State of Florida law bans all retail sales of consumer fireworks and illegal sparklers. Details can be found on the Department of Financial Services website (www.fldfs.com). Thank you for your cooperation. We wish everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July Upcoming Board meetings: August 18, October 6 (budget meeting), and December 1 (annual meeting). All meetings will be held at Club Tampa Palms at 7:00 p.m. KNOW YOUR DAYS; Addresses Ending in; 0,1,2, or 3 Your Irrigation Days Are: Mondays and Thursdays Addresses ending in: 4,5 or 6 Tuesdays and Fridays Addresses ending in7,8 or 9 Wednesdays and Saturdays Keep in mind that Tampa Returned to Year Round irrigation allowances March 1.
