ITALO-HELLENIC FRIENDSHIP SAILING RACE NOTICE OF RACE 1 ORGANIZING AUTHORITY. Under the patronage of the Italian Ambassy in Athens and the Greek Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Italo-hellenic Cultural Association Friends of Leros - AIAL-, the Nautical Club of Leros and the Leros Educational Cultural Association of Youth Artemis, with the participation of the Fiumicino Sailing Club CVF - of Rome and the help of the Hellenic Offshore Racing Club, are organizing the offshore Italo-Hellenic Friendship sailing race for ORC-I, IRC, ORC-Club and OPEN CLASS boats from Monday May 23 2011 to Friday May 27 2011. The race are included in the calendar of the Greek Sail Federation. 2 VENUE. Channels 16 & 72 are mandatory on VHF radio. 8 EVENT SPONSORS The Organizing Authority may require all participating boats to display a sponsor s logo for the duration of the event, according to ISAF Advertising Code, Regulation 20.4.1.1 9 ADVERTISING 9.1 ISAF Advertising Code will apply. Therefore boats bearing individual advertisement during the regatta must comply to the above-mentioned Rule and with their National Authority Regulations.

9.2 ISAF Advertising Code will take effect from Saturday, May 21 st 2011 08:00 hours until Friday May 27 th 2011 24:00 hours. 9.3 Boats bearing advertisements must carry the relative permission from their National Authority. This permission must be submitted attached to the Race Entry form. 10 ELIGIBILITY 10.1 Boats with valid ORC International, ORC Club, IRC (endorsed & non endorsed) certificate, and OPEN CLASS with overall length equal to, or greater than 7.00 m. are eligible to enter the event. The ORC Club boats must fulfill the following criteria, to enter the event: Boats with GPH>= 700 with no limits. Boats with GPH<700, having sails from polyester materials. 10.2 Each boat can participate only in one of the above categories. 10.3 The Organizing Authority in order to facilitate boats from aboard, with no rating certificate, to enter the event, offers direct and free issue of OPEN CLASS rating (this rating is not contestable). 11 ENTRIES AND ENTRY FEE 11.1 Entry forms must be submitted to the Secretary of Organising Committee by post or e-m not later than Sunday, May 22 nd 2011 15:00 hours. 11.2 Entries must be submitted in the enclosed official Entry Form. 11.3 Entries must be accompanied by: 11.3.1 a copy of a current valid Rating Certificate 2011 as required by the National Authority. 11.3.2 For the OPEN CLASS boats: a copy of the registry certificate of the boat, in order to be able to issue a rating. 11.3.3 a copy of the boat insurance. 11.3.4 a copy of bank transfer. 11.4 Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Organizing Authority. 11.5 The following documents must be submitted by each participating boat to the Race Secretariat the latest until Sunday, May 22 nd 2010, 15:00 hours,: 11.5.1 - Rating Certificate. 11.5.2 - Crew list. 11.5.3 - Race Entry Form, with a signed disclaimer of liability and rights of use. 11.6 Entry fee is fixed at 50 for each participating boat, by bank transfer to the National Bank of Greece with the fallowing bank data: 11.6.1 IBAN code = GR13 0110 4030 0000 4035 4012 086 11.6.2 BIC (SWIFT code) = ETHNGRAA 12 SCHEDULE OF RACE

The event will consist of a series of three races for all boats. -- Monday May 23 rd 1 st race: Offshore race. Start 10:00 from Lakki. Course: Lakki Leros- Skala Patmos Distance: 18 nm approx. -- Wednesday, May 25 th 2 nd race: Offshore race. Start 10:00 from Skala Patmos. Course: Skala Patmos- Lipsi. Distance 13 nm approx. -- Friday, May 27 th 3 rd race: Offshore race. Start 10:00 from Lipsi. Course: Lipsi-Lakki Leros. Distance: 15 nm 13 CALENDAR OF EVENTS Sunday, May 22 nd 2011 at 19:00 hrs Skippers meeting at the Nautical Club of Leros. Sunday, May 22 nd 2011 at 20:00 hrs Opening ceremony, classical music recital at the Theater of Lakki. Tuesday, May 24 th 2011 at 19:00 hrs Classical music recital at Apokalipsi amphitheatre in Patmos. Tuesday, May 24 th 2011 at 21:00 hrs Welcome party by the Municipality of Patmos in Skala with prize giving ceremony. Thursday, May 26 th 2011 at 19:00 hrs Classical music recital at open space in Lipsi s harbour. Thursday, May 26 th 2011 at 21:00 hrs Welcome party by the Municipality of Lipsi with prize giving ceremony. Friday, May 27 th 2011 at 19:00 hrs Closing ceremony at the Nautical Club of Leros. Prize giving ceremony, and party with local food, traditional greek music and dance. 14 CATEGORIES - SUBDIVISION OF CLASSES The Race Committee may merge the classes in accordance the relevant rules. The list of the categories and class division will be available at the Skippers Meeting. 15 TIME CORRECTION SYSTEM

15.1 Performance Curve, Constructed Course or Ocean Course will apply for ORC-I boats. 15.2 Time on Time Scoring will apply for IRC boats. 15.3 Performance Line Scoring will apply for ORC-club boats and OPEN CLASS boats. 16 SCORING The Low Point Scoring System of RRS Appendix A4.1 will applied. 17 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS Sailing Instructions will be available for each entrant at Skippers Meeting. 18 MEASUREMENT CHECKS AND INSPECTIONS 18.1 Boats shall be made available to the Measurement Committee for random measurement checks and inspections, on Saturday, May 21 st 2011 from 09:00 to 20:00 and Sunday, May 22 nd 2011 from 09:00 to 18:00. 18.2 The Race Committee reserves the right of inspecting any boat without prior notice before or after each race. 18.3 Each boat must hold a copy of her Measurement Certificate, accompanied by the Measurement Inventory for ORC-I boats. 18.4 The person in charge of a boat must submit to the Committee a signed inventory of the sails existing on board, before the beginning of the inspection. 18.5 ORC-I and ORC-club boats are allowed to use only sails that have been officially measured. 18.6 All persons in charge or boat-owners must be aware that according to RRS 78.1, they are responsible that the boat is kept according to the Class rules. 19 CREW LIST 19.1 The person in charge of each participating boat must submit a crew list with the full names of all persons aboard, till Sunday, May 22 st 2011, 15:00 hrs. 19.2 Changes in the crew composition are permitted, provided that the Race Committee is advised in writing, on the specific form available by the Secretariat, not later than one (1) hour before the start of the race. 19.3 For safety and responsibility reasons concerning the person in charge of a boat and the Race Committee, the identification of a wrong or inadequate crew list may disqualify the boat in this race. 20 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

20.1 Competitors participate in the race entirely at their own risk. Special attention is drawn to RRS 4 Decision to Race. 20.2 The Organizing Authority and the committees will not accept any liability for personal or material damage, injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the race. 21 TROPHIES AND PRIZES 21.1 ORC-I boats. Prizes will be awarded to the 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd overall winners and to the winners of the classes according to the number of entries 21.2 IRC boats. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall winners of the IRC categories (endorsed & non endorsed) and to the winners of the classes according to the number of entries 21.3 ORC Club boats. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall winners and to the winners of the classes according to the number of entries 21.4 OPEN CLASS boats. Prizes will be awarded to the 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd overall winners and to the winners of the classes according to the number of entries. 21.5 - Prizes will be awarded to the first winner of each class, ORC-I, ORC-Club, IRC and OPEN CLASS for each individual race. 21.6 Plates will be awarded to each participating boat. 21.7 - A diploma will be awarded to all crew members of the participating boats. 22 NAUTICAL CHARTS The following navigation charts are recommended: IMRAY TETRA G 32, E.Y.Y. 422/2 and 451/1 23 MOORINGS Mooring will be available in all ports of the race. Mooring for the participating boats is free of charge. 24 INSURANCE Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance. In any case, it is the responsibility of the owners to hold adequate insurance cover for Tort Liability and Third Party Insurance (Property and Persons). 25 RIGHTS OF USE PICTURES AND VIDEO By participating in the race, a competitor automatically grants to the Organizing Authority, the unrestricted right and permission to use the name and the

image for any text, photograph or video footage of either themselves or to the boat they are sailing during the race, to be published or broadcast in any media whatsoever, for editorial or advertising purposes or to be used in press information; in this respect competitor s names and any biographical material about themselves may also be used in any way desired. The use of race material is permitted only under written permission of the Organizing Authority.
