RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) and CREDIT TRANSFER (CT) Enrolling students can apply for RPL or CT for units of competency. More information on RPL/CT and Our CT or RPL kit can be obtained from the college. COURSE PROGRESS MONITORING Course progress is monitored regularly and considers a student s academic results, course participation and intervention strategies. Trainers monitor student course progress and advise student engagement team if they believe the student is at risk of unsatisfactory course progress. This can be if the student has poor course participation, or is failing or about to fail a unit of competency. These students are issued with an At Risk of Unsatisfactory Course Progress letter and are required to contact the Institute via email or phone to discuss the intervention strategies available to them. Intervention strategies may include, participating in an academic skills program, tutorials, study groups or workshops, receiving individual case management, counseling, assistance with personal issues, mentoring, being placed in a suitable alternative subject within a course, being granted an extension to complete or a combination of the above and a reduction in course load. COMPETENCY, REASSESSMENT AND REPEATING UNITS OF COMPETENCY To successfully complete a unit of competency i.e. achieve a Competent result for the unit, a Student must achieve a Satisfactory Result for all assessment tasks for that unit. For each Assessment Task, Students are provided with 3 opportunities to achieve a Satisfactory Result in line with the Institute s Student Assessment, Reassessment and Repeating Units of Competency policy. If a student does not submit an assessment task by the due date, the Student will be deemed to have obtained a Not Yet Satisfactory (NYS) result for that assessment task. Should a student be unable to achieve a competent result on the completion of training and assessment for the unit, the Student will be deemed to have obtained a Not Yet Competent (NYC) result. Students who have obtained a NYC result may be eligible to undertake 1 reassessment at no additional charge, provided they have submitted all assessment tasks for the unit of competency by their due dates as specified by their trainer and have made a genuine attempt to complete each assessment task. Should the Student be unable to achieve a Competent result following re-assessment (where the student is eligible for reassessment), the Student will be deemed to have failed the unit (i.e. achieved a NYC result) and will be able to reenrol in the unit in line with the Institute s Student Assessment, Reassessment and Repeating Units of Competency policy.
