Lots of Enthusiasm for Teams and Coaches Best Thing About SYHA (open-ended responses) The coaching staff works very hard to constantly teach the players whether its at practice or when they come off the ice after a shift I like that everyone on our team is like family- I think it's a good experience for my son to bond with his team-and they all did.
Opportunity Areas Many families don t have specific suggestions for improvement, but those who do focus most on: individual skill development, need for more clinics, time of practice, and need for greater attention to the House program Suggested Improvements for SYHA (coded open-ended responses items with 3 mentions only) Satisfied as is 25 More individual skill development More clinics Practices too late More focus on House 12 10 10 9 Practices too early More practice time More specialized clinics Better recruitment/expand enrollment More communication from coaches More small drills More/better skating instruction Earlier tryouts 6 5 5 3 Fewer games Numbers represent # of mentions (not percent) 3 5

Conclusions 1. Overall satisfaction with SYHA is extremely high, with almost all categories having 90+% extremely or somewhat satisfied. 2. The remaining four categories HD leadership, familiarity with SYHA mission, and number and quality of clinics still have very high ratings, but there is room for some improvement. 3. When asked about the best thing about SYHA, families mentioned words like Great, Team, and Kids frequently enough to be prominently displayed in a word cloud. Families clearly like the coaches and coaching; in fact, Rosario (one of SYHA s most seasoned travel coaches) is mentioned enough to merit his own spot in the cloud.. There are some discrepancies in satisfaction between the experience of Travel and House/Developmental families. Accordingly, SYHA is making active efforts to rebuild and reinvigorate the House/Developmental league to better meet the needs of our families. 5. Although SYHA is pleased to see how many families are satisfied overall, we recognize families interest in more individual skill development and will take this interest along with feedback on clinics into account as we plan for next year. 6. As part of its 2015-2016 goals, SYHA plans to better communicate the organizational mission, including our commitment to USA Hockey s American Development Model (ADM), and the individual player development associated with this philosophy. 7
