can all of your traffic analysis needs be met at the push of a button?

A SOLUTION FOR ALL TRAFFIC ANALYSIS NEEDS How do you conduct traffic studies, evaluate new development impacts, and time your signals all at once? PTV Vistro is the all-in-one solution for all of your traffic analysis needs. With PTV Vistro, you can analyze traffic operations, evaluate new development impacts, and optimize signal timing. It can be used to analyze an intersection, a corridor, or an entire network. PTV Vistro was developed specifically for traffic analysis and assists transportation planners and traffic engineers with their projects. It provides quick and easy network setup, efficient data entry, and automated report generation, saving time and money. Bing maps, drag & drop graphics, and intersection templates facilitate efficient network construction. In addition, a workflow panel guides users efficiently through the various stages of the project and provides signal timing optimization at the push of a button. The integrated scenario management allows the user to evaluate and compare alternatives all within a single project. PTV Vistro offers a selection of industry-standard analysis methodologies, such as the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) 2010 and HCM 2000. PTV Vistro displays results for volume-to-capacity, level of service (LOS) and delays instantaneously as both a table and graphically in the network window. User-friendly reporting functions make generating report-ready tables and figures quick and easy. The software is also attractive as an additional tool for users of PTV Visum and PTV Vissim: the integration into the Vision Traffic Suite allows the importing of PTV Visum models into PTV Vistro and exporting of PTV Vistro models out to PTV Visum or PTV Vissim, providing the connection between the strategic planning level and the detailed operations level. Users can combine their software tools as needed in a modular fashion, depending on the task at hand.

Traffic Impact Analyses with PTV Vistro New developments can have a significant impact on traffic operations. Many jurisdictions have standardized processes for evaluating these impacts and PTV Vistro uses its workflow panel to guide users through the individual steps of trip generation, trip distribution, and trip assignment. UNIQUE TRAFFIC IMPACT ANALYSIS (TIA) NETWORK STRUCTURE The easy network setup includes objects specific to new development impact analysis. PTV Vistro includes zones to represent the new development site(s), gates to represent origins and destinations of the new development traffic, and paths to route traffic between the zones and gates. Easy input of trip generation rates for each zone, trip distribution between zones and gates, and path shares for specific trip paths complete the assignment of development traffic to the network. DEVELOPMENT TRIP TRACKING By having the TIA functionality in PTV Vistro, you can then track the trips associated with these new developments and evaluate the traffic impacts for different scenarios. The graphical and tabular reports provide a quick assessment of the traffic specific to the new development. MITIGATION ANALYSIS When the new development results in traffic operations that do not meet jurisdictional requirements for level of service, PTV Vistro provides the ability to test various changes in geometry or traffic control to determine the best strategy to mitigate a failing intersection. DEVELOPMENT SCENARIOS The PTV Vistro Scenario Manager allows the user to manage the analyses for different time periods, different analysis years, and even different development scenarios all in a single project. EFFICIENT NETWORK SET-UP Bing maps, drag & drop network editing, and intersection templates facilitate efficient network set-up. Lane configurations, traffic volumes, and traffic control are quick and easy to define. Alternatively, existing networks can be imported from PTV Visum traffic planning software or from other software solutions.

Signal optimization with PTV Vistro TIA network structure for evaluating new developments. Infrastructure improvements, changes in traffic volumes, or the addition of a new development can change the traffic conditions significantly, resulting in signal timing that no longer meets traffic needs. In these cases, signal re-timing is often required. PTV Vistro offers robust signal optimization algorithms to achieve the best cycle lengths, splits, and/or offsets to assist the user in generating the new timing plans required for a single intersection, an entire network, or even a specific route. INTERSECTION OPTIMIZATION For single intersections or intersections that are not coordinated with other intersections, PTV Vistro offers local optimization of cycle lengths and splits. The user can choose to optimize the splits by balancing the volume-to-capacity across all movements or to minimize the critical movement delay. In addition, the user can define parameters for the cycle lengths by either setting a range of cycle lengths to test or a set of specific cycle lengths. PTV Vistro offers instantaneous visual feedback through the signal timing diagram showing the green, amber, and all red times for each movement at a specific intersection. Time-space diagram for signal timing visualization. NETWORK OPTIMIZATION In contrast to the local optimization, the network optimization considers the interaction between the signalized intersections. For this level of optimization, the user can choose from two powerful optimization methods: Genetic Algorithm and Hillclimb, each offering parameters for the objective function and the thresholds for the optimization. At the network level, the user can also set parameters for the cycle length and the offset optimization. PTV Vistro provides powerful output through the optimization results graph, details about the optimization process, and visual representation of the output through a time-space diagram. Graphical analysis results for quick network reviews. ROUTE OPTIMIZATION PTV Vistro is unique in that it provides the ability to define specific routes for optimization. The routes can be any series of continuous movements through the network. Through the network optimization setup, the user can then define weights to preference specific routes higher than others in the network, giving the user control in finding the solution that best fits their network and objectives. Side-by-side network and tabular views for easy setup and editing.

5 GOOD REASONS FOR PTV VISTRO Benefits A tool especially for traffic analysis Opt for PTV Vistro for a tool that focuses on the operational side of transportation planning. PTV Vistro offers both functionalities for conducting traffic impact analyses (TIAs) and signal timing studies. Automated, easy-to-use reporting in tabular and graphic form completes the tool and displays the results so they are easy to understand. This way, the effect of the measures examined can be analyzed quickly. User friendliness & efficiency Build your traffic model in PTV Vistro quickly. Bing map aerial photography, drag & drop, snap-to-handles, intersection templates and simple tabular data input make modeling easier. The software allows the import of existing networks from the traffic planning software PTV Visum and other planning tools and export to PTV Vissim for detailed simulation analysis when needed. Integration and flexibility Select software that complements your work with the planning tools PTV Visum and PTV Vissim. Traffic networks generated in PTV Vistro can be exported seamlessly to and from PTV Visum and, using the ANM interface, to PTV Vissim. In PTV Visum there are processes and tools available for all strategic traffic planning questions. PTV Vissim provides detailed simulation analysis when needed, such as evaluating near or over-saturated traffic conditions, comparing various alternatives, or analyzing detailed signal timing.
