Call Recording for Mobile Phones FSA regulations are changing in November 2011. For FSA regulated companies, mobile phone calls are no longer exempt from the call recording regs and the implementation deadline is approaching! Our hosted approach to mobile call recording is quick to implement and there s no need for you to buy any special equipment. It s one of the most cost effective ways of recording mobile calls available. Benefits Mobile call recording can provide the following benefits: Dispute resolution Transaction verification Staff training Aide-memoire Legal protection for both business and staff Reduce overheads by reducing personal calls on company phones We can provide competitively priced call minutes bundles. Good Business Practice and Legal Protection X-on provides simple and cost effective mobile call recording solutions for mobile or land-line calls. The service is hosted, so no hardware purchase is required. Our mobile call recordings are securely stored on our servers for at least six months, and can be downloaded or deleted using our user-authenticated web interface. Alternatively, recordings can be sent to you and deleted from our system straight away For banks, financial services firms, stock brokers and solicitors that use mobile phones as part of their daily business activity, mobile recording means that firms can demonstrate compliance with the latest FSA regulations. Call recordings can be used to resolve disputes more easily, or for staff training, or as memory joggers to improve efficiency, or to share calls with colleagues. Though not necessarily required to do so, an increasing number of smaller businesses record their calls as insurance against false claims. For legal and other professional services firms call recording can assist in client billing and accounting. Legal Implications for Financial Organisations The Financial Services Authority (FSA) have regulated that all phone conversations and electronic communications relating to client orders in the equity, bond and derivatives markets must be recorded and archived for six months. FSA Policy Statement 10/17 (Nov 2010) removes the mobile phone exemption, and firms must comply with these changes to the mobile phone recording rules by 14 November 2011. How Does Our Mobile Recording System Work? We have two methods available and which one s best depends on your requirements. Please call us and we will advise you. Can we provide you with a new SIM card for your phone? Our SIM card connects you to our network and allows all inbound and outbound calls to be recorded. What kind of handset do you have - 2G or 3G? Our network requires 3G phones, but we also offer a prefix dial method that you can use with any phone on any network. Do you want all calls to be recorded automatically, or do you want to record an individual call on demand? Using our SIM card means all your calls are automatically recorded. The prefix dial method allows optional recording. Do you want call handling features (such as the ability to redirect incoming calls to a landline or a mobile, with the call being recorded in either case)? We have a web interface that allows this. X-on SIM Card Method We give you X-on SIM cards for your mobile phones that connect you to our X-on mobile network. This allows us to record all calls to/from mobile phones that use our SIM cards. We use the Three network for mobile coverage, that provides a comprehensive 3G service with over 98% UK national coverage and roaming agreements with non-uk mobile networks. Outgoing calls All calls from your mobile phone are passed by Three to X-on, where we route the call to its destination number and record the call. Incoming calls All calls to your mobile phone are initially received by X-on, where we record the call and connect the call to your mobile phone using the Three network. In order to record the call we need the incoming call to pass through our network so we can record it, on its way through to your handset. Sales:
We can give you a standard UK geographic (01/02) or non-geographic (03/08) number that we will assign to your mobile handset, or you can continue to use your existing mobile number. To continue with your existing number we would need to set up a network divert that diverts all calls dialled to your existing number on to the new number we give you. Once this is set up, your existing SIM card is no longer required and you can replace the SIM in your phone with the X-on SIM card. Then all calls dialled to your existing mobile number or the new number are passed through to X-on for recording and connection to your mobile handset. Prefix Dial Method We give you a prefix number that you dial first, then you dial your desired destination number. The prefix sends the call through our system for recording, and we route the call onwards to its destination number. You continue to use your existing mobile SIM card. Depending on your phone, we can install software (e.g. for iphone) that automatically adds the prefix for you. For incoming calls we can give you a new number for callers to dial, or we can transfer calls dialled to an existing landline number on to your mobile and record the call. Note that with this method we cannot record calls dialled directly to your current mobile number, so if the call needs to be recorded you must return the call and dial the prefix. If required, we can give you a configuration web page that allows you to route incoming calls to your desk phone or your mobile phone as needed. Similarly, outgoing calls from either landline or mobile can be recorded. Blackberry Call Recording Existing 'off the shelf' solutions for recording calls on a Blackberry mobile are saddled with some inherent issues which are not present in X-on's solutions: Call recording requires conferencing be enabled at the handset, which is limited to certain operators, and contracts The second leg of conference call delays the connection of inbound and outbound calls, unacceptably for many users The second leg call may fail altogether Signalling does not pass third party CLI information making call tracking difficult If you're seeking a call recording solution for your roster of staff using Blackberries, speak to us before signing up for an existing Blackberry Call Recording application. Call Storage X-on's Mobile Recording service stores the conversations on our servers in a secure environment which cannot be accessed externally except by authenticated users. Recordings are available in WAV or MP3 format and can be downloaded to authenticated users over a secure internet link (https) or via secure FTP to your server. Recordings are held on our server for 6 months minimum period, or longer as agreed with the customer. You can search for recordings by date/time, calling number or called number, and download recordings to your PC or server whenever you choose and as often as you like whilst the recordings remain on our server. Each recording is automatically deleted from our server when its lifetime expires. Alternatively, if you prefer to keep your own recordings, we can transfer the recordings to your company server using a secure FTP file transfer as soon as the call has finished. Once the transfer is complete we delete the recording from our system. More Information For further information on Mobile Recording please call Sales on. Sales:
