E V E N T R E P O R T IST ALL PAKISTAN INTER UNIVERSITY CHALLENGE APRIL 21-23, 2011 Institute of Space Technology (IST) clinched the month of April by managing successful execution of IST All Pakistan Inter-University challenge 2011. Twenty one entertaining competitions More than six hundred participants About forty Universities from allover Pakistan IST had a history of organizing Twin City Inter University challenge for the last three years. This year the spectrum of this event was broaden and swelled over all Pakistan level. The event proved to be a great success as over six hundred participants of about forty universities from all over Pakistan exhibited fervent participation The wide assortment of contests proved to be a platform for students to interact, compete and share their ideas with each other. Bursting hoop of 21 entertaining competitions enthralled the participants and audience for three successive days from 21-23 April.IST also arranged a leisure trip to Murree on 24 April for the participants of universities stationed outside the vicinity of Twin cities.
The first day of the event started with Bilingual Declamation competition. PIEAS Islamabad captivated the event in both the categories of English and Urdu. The day progressed to another contest entitled as E-Gaming. The event was a demonstration of virtual skills of energetic youth representing different universities. NUST Business School Islamabad, COMSATS Islamabad and EME College secured first positions in the respective gaming contests. The mesmerizing entertainment of first day was Documentary / Video shoot Competition with a theme of Student Hostel Life. Numbers of entertaining videos were included in the event. Sizeable audience witnessed the show and applauded the efforts of university students. The best documentary title was swirled to University of Gujrat.
Second day of the event rose with a wide range of competitions including Bilingual Essay and Story Writing Competition, All Rounder Quiz Competition, Painting and Sketching Competition, Photography, Visage Canvas, Speed Programming and Singing Competition (Qualifying Round). University of Punjab Lahore and PIEAS Islamabad stood first in Essay Writing Competition (English & Urdu) respectively. University of Punjab Lahore was honored with the title winner of All Rounder Quiz Competition. University of Peshawar and University of Gujrat won the titles of Painting and Sketching respectively. Selected theme of Painting& Sketching was Traditions & Culture of Pakistan. Photography contest titles went to University of Gujrat and Fatima Jinnah Women University. Visage Canvas, Speed Programming and Singing Competition crowns went to University of the Punjab. Urdu Mushaira was another entertaining festivity of the second day. There were two categories, the serious and humorous poetry. In serious category University of Punjab Lahore and University of Peshawar in the category of humorous grabbed titles. Famous Poet Mr. Sarfraz Shahid was also member of judges' panel on the occasion. In the end he also presented his own phrases and fascinated the audience with his humorous touch.
Third day clearly belonged to the (AOUJ & GOUNJ) students' societies of IST. The day begun with the dramatic performances and mounted rhythm gave way to Singing and Clash of the Clans contests. Famous Media figures Mr. Usama Qazi and Mr. Shoaib Khaliq were invited to judge the Dramatics. Mr. Shahid Mahmood Nadeem (DMD PTV) graced the occasion as chief guest in Prize Distribution Ceremony. He witnessed some portion of the Dramatics and very kindly gave away the prizes to the winners of event. Overall Champion Trophy was bagged by University of the Punjab. Vice Chancellor (IST) Engr. Imran Rahman was also present on the occasion.
Famous Bands LAHU and RAP ENGINEERS witnessed and judged the spellbound performances of the contestants. They commended the quality of performers in Singing and Clash of the Clans. University of the Punjab and OVERDRIVE Band won the singing and Clash of the Clans events respectively. PTV, ATV, AKS Radio (www.aksradio.com), City FM 89 Islamabad, THE NEWS, Pakistan Observer, Daily Express & Islamabad Dateline covered the event. Over 2500 members of social networking website liked the event and praised the efforts of organizers. On the whole the event proved to be a great success receiving overwhelming response from all across Pakistan. It was organized with shared commitment of whole IST team.
