1 St. Paul University Philippines Tuguegarao City 3500 SCHOOL OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING CONTESTS MECHANICS Regional General Programming Contest Mechanics Guidelines: 1. Registering teams must have an adviser who will attend the Competition with the team. Valid school ID is needed upon registration for the participants and the adviser. Registration will start at 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM on March 4, 2015, Registration Fee: Php per team. The Competition will start at 1:30pm 3. Each team can have two to three members. 4. The Duration of the competition is 1 hour 30 minutes. 5. Programming languages to be used are as follows: Visual Basic dot Net, C# and J#. due to some incompatibility, VB6 will not be used 6. Problems will be selected from domains such as mathematics, computer science, logic and business. 7. Each team will select one (1) programming language to use in solving the problems. 8. One problem will be given to the participants 9. Each team will be assigned in a workstation accessing the different programming languages as stated. 10. Electronic aides and media are not permitted. No disks, USB memory, laptop computers, palmtop computers, calculators, cell phones, Etc. 11. Participants are not allowed to bring printed documentation, such as texts, manuals and printouts. 12. Contestants are not allowed to leave the contest area during the contest period. 13. Advisers are not permitted in the contest area during the contest period. 14. Judging will be based on the time required to reach a correct solution as well as qualitative assessment of solutions by the committee-in-charge. 15. There will only be 3 winners to be declared (1 st, 2 nd. 3 rd )

The Competition will start at 8:30AM on March 4, Each team can have two to three members. 4. The Duration of the competition is two hours. 5. Programming languages to be used are as follows: Visual Basic dot Net, C#.Net or J#.Net for front end and MS Access and MYSQL Server. 6. Each Team will select one programming language to use in solving the problems. 7. Each team will be assigned in a workstation accessing the different programming languages as stated. 8. Electronic aids and media are not permitted: No diskette, Flash Disk, laptop computers, palmtop computers, calculators, cellphones Etc. 9. Participants are not allowed to bring printed documentation, such as texts, manuals, and printouts. 10. Contestants are not allowed to leave the contest area during the contest period. 11. Advisers are not permitted in the contest area during the contest period. 12. There will only 3 winners to be declared (First, Second and Third). Criteria: 30% - Error Trapping 30% - Efficiency of Code 30% - Database Design 10% - Program Design

Valid school ID is needed upon registration for verification for the participants and the adviser. Registration will start at 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM on March 3, 2015, Registration Fee: Php per team. The Competition will start at 1:30pm. 3. Each team should be composed of 3 members only. 4. The theme of the website will be given before the contest start. 5. The Competition will be held for 2 hours only. 6. Participants will use notepad, Notepad++, Bluefish as their primary coding tool. 7. Images, Videos, text or Audio must be created during the competition. 8. Flash drive or any other devices will be first checked by the coordinator to be used by the participants. 9. Participants who will use ready made codes or will be cheating in any form identified by the coordinator or judges will be disqualified immediately. 10. Three (3) participating teams will be announced as winners. 1 st 2 nd 3 rd Criteria 30% Theme 15% Page layout 20% User Interface 35% Content (Text, Graphics and Images, Animation/Video, Audio) 100%
4 On-the-Spot Advertising/ Video Making Contest Guidelines 1. Registering teams must have an adviser who will attend the Competition with the team. Valid school ID is needed upon registration for verification for the participants and the adviser. Registration will start at 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM on March 4, 2015 Registration Fee: Php750.00per team. The Competition will start at 1:30pm. 3. Each team should be composed of 3 members only. 4. Each participating school should provide their own materials needed for the contest (i.e. computer/laptop, software, Camera Recorder). The software used will either be a movie maker, Macromedia Flash and other related software. 5. No coach, mentor or student is allowed to coach during the contest 6. The advertising should be from 2.5 minute to 3 minutes only. 7. The theme of the advertisement will be given before the contest start. 8. The board of judges chooses the top three advertisements as winners. Criteria for Judging Aesthetic ( Look and Appeal ) 30 % Relevance to the Theme 30 % Layout (Organization & Creativity) 30 % Values Incorporation 10 % 100 %
5 IT Quiz Bee Registration Fee: Php per team. I. Guidelines 1. Each participating school is allowed to send a representative comprising of three (3) members. They must be bona fide Information technology students. 2. On the day of the competition, the official representatives of the competing schools should submit to the registration committee a certification of the registrar that the participating students are currently enrolled in their school and must be able to present their official School ID s. 3. Each participant must have registered not later than 30 minutes before the competition proper. Registration shall be officially closed January 12, Latecomers shall not be entertained. 4. The elimination round is comprised of 10-Easy, 5-Average and 5-Difficult questions with respective scores of 1, 3, and 5. Each team shall be provided with an illustration board on which they are to write their answers. The top 3 teams shall qualify for the final round. In case of a tie, there shall be a tie-breaking question. 5. The final round is comprised of 5-Easy, 5-Average and 10-Difficult questions with respective scores of 1, 3 and 5. In case of a tie, there shall be a tie-breaking question. The team with the highest score shall be declared as Champion. 6. The facilitators of the quiz bee competition will distribute the question to the contestants; the quiz master will then read the question after the contestants raised their answers. 7. The given time to answer the question is indicated in the question. 8. The contestants are allowed only to erase their answer after checking and scoring. 9. Questions or appeals to the board of judges shall be entertained after all the scores have been entered. The board of judges determines the accuracy of the answers and decides on the issues. The decision of the board of judges is final.

Disqualification Any contestant may be disqualified from the contest on the basis of the following: Cheating(in any form determined by the judges) Falsification, fraud and misrepresentation in the accomplishment of the contest documents. Misconduct during the contest Violation of the contest rules Certificates of Participation shall be given to all the contestants and Certificate of Recognition to the participating schools and coaches of the winning schools. Awarding of prizes shall be awarded during the closing program. On-the-Spot Essay Writing Contest 1. There should be one contestant from every participating school. 2. The contestant must be a bona fide student of the school that he\ she is representing duly certified by the department head. 3. The essay should contain not less than 3 but not more than 5 paragraphs. 4. The essay should be completed 1½ hours. Criteria for Judging: Content: 40% Relevance to the Theme Originality Substance Language use: 25% Grammatical Accuracy Sentence Construction (Style) Diction (Right Choice of Words) Presentation/Organization: 25% Logical and Orderly Presentation of Ideas
7 Mechanics: 10% Spelling Punctuation Neatness Indention On the Spot Poster Making 1. Each participating school is entitled to 2 contestants. They must be a bona fide students as certified by the head of the department. 2. Each participating school should provide their own materials needed for the contest (i.e. 1 whole cartolina, pastel, charcoal, and pencil). 3. The contest proper should be done at the maximum of 4 hours. Criteria for Judging: Slogan making Contest Resourcefulness: 10% Neatness: 10% Creativity: 15% Originality: 25% Relevance of the Theme: 40% 100% 1. The contest is open to all participating school except students from the school. 2. Slogan should be written in English. 3. The contestants will be given one hour to finish the slogan. 4. Anyone who will be caught cheating will be automatically disqualified from the contest. 5. Each participating school should provide their own materials needed for the contest (i.e. 1 whole cartolina, pastel, charcoal, and pencil). 6. No one is allowed to get near the contest area. Criteria for Judging: Content: 40% Design: 30% Creativity/originality: 30%
