The 45 CP do not include additional requirements Where to do the Master Thesis: The thesis has to be in the field of productions technology Official supervision by a Faculty 4 Institute of RWTH Aachen University External Thesis: Upon application, the thesis can be done externally (e.g. other faculty or industry) Supervisor, however, has to be out of Faculty 4 Institute of RWTH Aachen University Important: Supervisor has to be organized by the student himself! Important: Also the external supervisor has to have a diploma of a university! Otherwise a supervision is not possible. (All information on page 5 of the registration form) Seite 13
How to find a master thesis 2) Have a look on the homepage or on the noticeboards of the institutes you are interested in 3) Write a detailed E-Mail to the assistant where you point out your interests 1) When do I want to start the thesis and in which research field? 4) Have a meeting at the institute Start your planning at least 2 months before you want to start your thesis! Seite 14
Advises for the application process Start your planning at least two months before you want to start. If you want to write an external thesis (e.g. at a company) at least three months before. Inform yourself what are the research fields of the institute and of the assistant you want to write an E-Mail. Write a detailed and personally addressed E-Mail to the assistant! Ask for a personal meeting. If you are planning an external thesis: Don t name a concrete topic! The internal supervisor has to be involved in the process otherwise he will have no benefit. Seite 15
