Reports To: FLSA Status: Recruitment & Retention Specialist II Non-Exempt POSITION SUMMARY The Recruitment Specialist is responsible for council-wide management of recruitment of girls and volunteers in Girl Scout troops through regionally organized areas (service units) in the Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada Council area. Responsibilities include adult and girl recruitment, developing community partnerships, and securing meeting locations. All functions are performed collaboratively with operational volunteers. Responsibilities include budgeting, analyzing statistical data, developing marketing strategies, creating and implementing long and short range goals, networking, building relationships and attending meetings and events. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Member Recruitment Organize and implement troop membership recruitment, registration and placement efforts Work with Recruitment & Retention Specialist II to identify specific targets for membership growth by analyzing demographics and membership trends in order to expand membership in untapped and underserved markets Create new troops in underserved areas by scheduling a meeting time and date Market to the appropriate demographic Plan and hold recruitment events Identify and recruit adults to fill open volunteer campaign positions Facilitate the implementation of membership recruitment plans for each service unit and participate in the development of council-wide membership recruitment Extend Girl Scouting to the community through presentations, networking and relationship building with key community stakeholders. Act as an ambassador to promote the visibility of the Girl Scout organization to promote the visibility of the Girl Scout organization Ensure Girl Scouting is open to all by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity Management Systems Serve as content expert on Girl Scout process, procedures, rules and forms Process essential forms promptly and accurately Provide for the safety and program experience of all participants through adherence of mandatory policies and procedures Utilize membership data and department plans in order to impact the year end membership results positively

Facilitation of Regional Council Efforts Collaborate with all departments within the organization and with members of assigned areas to meet and expand the geographic goals and objectives of the Girl Scout council Work closely with all membership recruitment and retention specialists to coordinate consistency councilwide Work as part of a team to advance council initiatives as needed QUALIFICATIONS AA degree preferred or 2-3 years of equivalent professional experience Experience with and understanding of volunteer management is beneficial but not required Must be able to recruit, train, and supervise multiple volunteers Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality with work related information Able to speak effectively before individuals and has excellent interpersonal skills Ability to manage a multiproject workload in multiple locations; exercise initiative and meet deadlines Basic experience with Microsoft Office Suite software (Excel, MSWord, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet). Ability to learn internal software. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends on a continual basis Must be able to travel within the Reno/Sparks area on a consistent basis Must be able to travel to rural areas occasionally including Eastern and Central Nevada as well as the Eastern California area stretching from the Oregon/California border to the Southern area of Bishop, California and as far east as Elko/Spring Creek and the Utah border Must have a valid driver license, reliable transportation and insurance for necessary travel to meetings and events Behavior consistent with the mission: Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place Required to learn and have full understanding of Girl Scout Leadership Experience Obtain and maintain membership in the Girl Scouts of the USA COMPETENCIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Individual must meet minimum membership goals set annually and reported monthly. Employee must have the confidence and skill set in order to provide information, grow volunteer recruitment, and the overall Girl Scout concept to small and large groups. High ability to continually provide conflict resolution between girls, parents, staff and volunteers. Maintain a high level of knowledge of the organization on a continual basis through staff, team and departmental meetings; or through research, print or online materials; and other avenues available within the organization. Authority and Accountability

Accountable to Membership Recruitment Specialist II. Employee has the authority to carry out work performance objectives agreed upon with their supervisor. Objectives are outlined annually and reported/reviewed at least quarterly. The primary duty will be the performance of office or non-manual work directly related to the management or general business operations of the employer and includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance. Supervisory Responsibilities Responsible for the recruitment of multiple volunteers. Required Training GSUSA/GSSN training modules on the Girl Scout organization, GSLE, and Troop Leadership. Mathematical Skills Must be able to understand and perform math skills needed for the position (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, ratios, fractions, and proportions to practical solutions) either with or without a calculator. Be able to create and maintain budgets, balance accounts, calculate demographic data, statistical data and interpret how it relates to membership. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and carry them out. Ability to apply conflict resolutions skills in a variety of situations between staff, volunteers and girl members. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), Outlook and Internet. The individual will be trained on and be responsible for mastering Personify. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Current driver s license required. Employees who use privately owned vehicles for council business are responsible for complying with local, state and federal laws. Employees will be required to carry a current driver s license, vehicle registration, personal and public liability insurance which meets state and council requirements. This position consistently requires the individual to travel exposing them to traffic and weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to dirt, dust, heat, cold, wind, noise, rain, snow. Customarily this position requires travel within the Reno/Sparks area on a consistent basis.
