Introduction Purpose: Repro Desk Services for IIS provides a secure RDCS (Repro Desk Communication Services) tunnel in a DMZ environment. The DMZ (demilitarized zone) is small network inserted for security between your private network and the Internet. Overview: The primary web server is located in the DMZ. The secondary web server is located on the Repro Desk Admin server. The Repro Desk Admin, SQL Server, file store, and console/ids(s) are located in a secure LAN. DMZ traffic is not permitted directly to the LAN. Port 80 traffic is allowed from the Internet router to the DMZ server. LAN traffic is allowed outbound access to the DMZ and the Internet. Installation is in two major steps: the component in the DMZ (see page 4), and the component in the secure LAN (see page 12). Notes: Always install the DMZ web server first, and then the LAN server. This version does not support hardware or IIS load balancing, or web farms. The DMZ web server must be installed on a dedicated server. The product may not function properly and is not supported on a multi-site server. The LAN server must be installed on a server with the Océ Repro Desk Admin already installed. A static IP address for the LAN server is highly recommended. In a Windows workgroup environment located across a DMZ, local DNS name resolution must function properly, or the application will not work. If DNS is not used locally, the LMHOSTS file on the Océ Repro Desk Admin server must be edited to contain a NETBIOS entry for the DMZ server, as follows: a. Open LMHOSTS.SAM. This file is typically in the %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\Drivers\Etc directory. b. Enter the name and IP address of the DMZ server. c. Save the file as LMHOSTS, without the.sam extension.
